  • Was pigpen playing? When peppermint patty and Charlie Brown were dancing around the chair, it looked like pigpen was standing to the side holding a chair, but when it zoomed out, it was Marci in that exact same spot...????

  • I just watch Happy New Year Charlie Brown last night on Channel 7 on a regular Antenna and it was so funny when they play the musical chairs

  • I have no idea why charlie brown is on boomerang (?)

  • @amazingpcmovies That was on UK.

  • @Emergencp I know. I used to watch Peanuts on Boomerang when I was younger. But I'm not so sure if it's still on the channel, Peanuts play so little in the UK to begin with...

  • I love how they do the 60's dancing at the end there.

  • ... Fuck you

  • it was on boomerang cool

  • @Supercharge87 2 times in this and it was a short summer charlie brown :)

  • Hmm...how many times did Peppermint Patty and Patty appear together? This is pretty cool.

  • Is that you lucy?

  • @PurpleHated YOU GOTTA CATCH ME FIRST SIR

  • Peanuts probably suffered the same fate that everything we took for granted over the last 50 years when everything just went weird, including music & gaming as well. At least memories aren't destroyed as long as someone remembers the good old days...

  • This reflects very well how our current monetary system is built up. Money is created out of debt and there is never enough to pay it all back to the banks, so there is always a loser.

  • lol u know when got out the music was still playing

  • 5 people didn't win at musical chairs

  • Comment removed

  • where is the dirt ball kid ?

  • DANG!!! Charlie can really DANCE!!!! Woo!!!

  • 5 dislikes?! o.)

    Respect the classics man.

  • peppermit can get it

  • I love this. Someone will ask "So, wadda wanna do?" and i go "PLAY MUSICAL CHAIRS!!! Hey! Its time for musical charis come on lets go!!!" My friends think is so annoying when I burst into this song but I love it!!!!!! =)

  • @Lilyellowbirdlover08

I love hilarious kinda inside jokes like that. I've played this during house parties before heh

  • Cool, we get to see the original Patty, who had become somewhat of a background character by the time this special come out.

  • @Supercharge87 Yeah, it's strange that there are two Patty's in the same room together. It must get confusing for the other characters....

  • no lie i always thought permint patty was some suffer boy

  • my new

  • I don't know how anyone can like Peppermint Patty. She's got to be one of the most annoying character out of the whole Peanut Gang... But I am a fan of Charlie Brown. It reminds me of the good times...before animation began to suck.

  • Peanuts are the best. I know I could watch all the old shorts on here, but I really want to buy them all on VHS. I never had as many as I wanted to as a kid. I rented most of them at the local video store.

  • Peppermint Patty! so cute

  • Peppermint Patty! so cute

  • at 00:50 and see what I mean

  • We all know Peppermint Patty... and this is her party... so it's kind of OBVIOUS who's going to win...

and she was kind of mean to Lucy, they all got on the chairs, and she sent Lucy out of the game even though THE MUSIC DIDN'T EVEN END

  • in this movie around the end he said "dont let the ants get in the shitter" i just saw it on tv wtfx!!!!

  • LOL, adorable...Happy New Year Everyone :)

  • so cute!!

  • And for the grammar police out there, YouTube gobbled up all the apostrophes when I pasted the text in from MS Word.

  • And, part III:

You hop around each corner of the precious seat

Waiting for the moment you can get off your feet

    Cause when the music stops

    You cant be standing there

If you want to be a winner

    You gotta be a winner

If you want to be a winner

    At musical chairs

    YEAH!

  • Part II: Cause you dont want to be the only one Without a seat Cause when the music stops You cant be standing there If you want to be a winner at musical chairs Now every time the music stops Youre gonna end up One chair short And if youre booga-looin When the musics gone Sorry, its time to move on Now its the moment of truth Its getting down the wire
  • Here are the lyrics, as far as I can make out (part I): Hey! Its time for musical chairs Come on, lets go! Set up the chairs now, all in a row You run around the chairs till the music stops And you have to find a seat now dont get caught Cause when the music stops You cant be standing there If you want to be a winner at musical chairs We take away a chair while youre running around Dont let the kid in front of you get you down Just listen to the rhythm Now dont miss a beat
  • I just watched this tonight with my mom.

  • Charlie Brown plan on sleeping in order not to see the Little Red Hair Girl

  • Happy New Year

  • WHY IS SCHROEDER HOLDING MARCIES HAND

  • @painokitos oh shizz Lucy! looks like you've got competition! lol

  • Haha.. This is sooooo cute!!!!

  • Do you have the whole thing? I never saw this one

  • I don't get why the boys swapped their shorts for pants...when Peppermint Patty didn't do anything to better her outfit

  • There are all sorts of wardrobe errors throughout the series. I just try to ignore 'em.

  • There are three things I'VE learned never to discuss: religion, politics, and fashion.

  • y r the boys wering like loafers or somtin they wear black shorts O_o

  • You're right. I have on the Peanuts Sports Collection(Peanuts All Stars).

  • Peppermint Patty only won because she was singing the song.

  • Yep. Violet was the first addition.

  • Marcie randomly holding Schroder's hand LOL that's funny

  • At 0:01, is that Patty playing the music? I'm NOT talking about Peppermint Patty.

  • Yep.

  • I thought so.

  • i love regular patty!

  • So do I she is so cute.

  • I loved this song =]

and people call peppermintpatty a lesbian, she has a crush on Charlie brown...

  • I can't wait for the Peanuts 1980s Collection to come to DVD.

  • Lucy looks so happy in this video.

  • ummmm 0:34 why is Marcie randomly holding schroeder's hand?

  • and Lucy didn't even notice this and get jealous?

  • @happykitty11 ahh shit, better not let Lucy find out, else its goin down!!

  • The girl in charge of the record player is Patty she was around before Peppermint Patty. Whats funny is from 1975 untile this special in 1986 she took a look break for being in the specials.

  • Yeah I've noticed that. Patty, not the same as Peppermint Patty, was retired in 1976 from the comic strips but she somehow would still make appearances in the specials but they were usually cameos. Anyway I always thought Patty, not Peppermint Patty, was kind of cute.

  • this sounds just like boogie woogie bugle boy. Haha i love this episode though. I watched it new years eve when I was in Vancouver with my family. I love it.

  • sick song dog

  • I knew the moment Peppermint Patty started singing that she was going to win. XD

  • happy new year charlie brown

  • Does anyone know where I can get a DVD of this show? Amazon only has it on used VHS.

  • It is on DVD but you'll have to buy I Want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown since it is a bonus feature but I'm going to wait for the Peanuts 1980s Collection to come to DVD when I buy this.

  • Any Idea what she says at 0:52?

  • I first read your post when it was 52 minutes old, I guess that means something.

    Anyway it sounds like -

If you're still Boogalooin' when the music gone.

Sorry, you've got to move on.

  • I'm Peppermint Patty in Our School Play, You're a good man charlie brown

  • what school do u go to

  • Don't be a pedophile, hairspraylover, it's illegal.

  • Does anyone know the lyrics to this song..? Because the sound on my computer doesn't work so I can't listen to it.

  • oh not penny. it is patty or patricia?

  • I think it is Peppermint Patty, but i think that i her nickname, and her name is Patricia

  • is her name 'Peppermint Penny'?

  • the green singing gal is so adorable except the spots on her face. what is her name? i only remember lucy.

  • I saw this last night!

    Its great!

  • OMG OMG OMG... this is totaly my new favorite song in the world! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • I missed this tonight, and I'm ticked.

  • This is one of the very few Charlie Brown specials that I had never seen until tonight. I found it pretty funny and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I know this special isn't on DVD, but if you could put this entire special on here, silverbeagle, I'm sure that many others beside myself would really enjoy it. Thanks for posting this.

  • Anybody who is interested in seeing this Peanuts special should know it's airing on ABC New Year's Eve at 8:00PM.

  • It actually came on December 30. And it's edited. They skipped the part when Charlie Brown got a "D-" on his book report.

  • at 00:34 why is schroeder holding marcie's hand? lol.

  • GASP!!!! :34-:36 Marcie and Schroeder are holding hands!!

  • I hate peppermint patty. She's rude and she's mean to charlie and she assumes he likes her.

she can be a cashew for all i care. (in stead of a peanut)

  • rude and mean to charlie brown? are you kidding me?

  • Up yours.

  • I always thought she was a lesbian

  • Are you sayin that Peppermint Patty is a lesbian. I know Lucy isn't. She's straight as can be.

  • Can you upload the whole new years special please??????

  • I used to play this too when I was a kid ^-^

  • How old are the voice actors for Charlie Brown?

  • i remember reading somewhere (maybe the 45th anniversary book) that they used real children in the specials so they'd sound more authentic. So they're probably about 8-12.

  • LOL This one is ADORABLE!!!! I love this song..

We did the dance at a party once (with this song) and it was fun ^^

  • Muy bueno !! Gracias ,desde argentina.

  • How cute!

  • I love Patty!!! she's the coolest girl ever!!!!

  • You mean Patty or Peppermint Patty?

  • violet and patty were rarely seen after the 60s but they're both in this special

  • I like the fact that they kept Violet, Patty, and Shermy in the specials long after their last appearance.

  • Patty, Shermy and Charlie Brown were in the very first "Peanuts" strip, which gives them a special place in "Peanuts" history.

  • Peppermint is my favorite peanuts character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So cute! what a tomboy!

  • This song sounds like something out of the 1950s.

  • This is one franchise that doesn't need a reboot for the "hip" generation. If you do reboot it, leave it like it is. Don't turn it into "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2007."

  • Honestly, I'll extend a certain finger to anyone who even considers touching the Peanuts gang for a new, hip movie.

  • me too. I'll pull my piano out from under them and you can dig a ditch for them to fall in! MWAHAHAHAHA!

  • @drumfreak87 Exactlly, I'm working on that, but I'm going to need a VERY good lawyer.

  • Peppermint Patty is my favorite! ^^

  • How nice... I always loved Peanuts. I like when Lucy dances... she was cute!

  • Charlie Brown and your friends is the best show ever!

  • muy bueno, gracias por hacernos participar de los recuerdos.

  • If you don't like what comes out of Holywood, don't watch the it!

  • Charlie Brown is a great cartoon! There's nothing wrong with watching TV. We just have to be selective and turn off the bad stuff. If we don't watch the bad stuff, then that sends word to Hollywood that we don't want it aired. This way they replace it with something better. Children should only receive positive messages. There's enough bad in the world without putting it in cartoons. We need to let our children enjoy this very imaginative time in their lives. Hollywood has crossed the line.

  • Well, gee, that wasn't your original message. In your previous messages, you were talking about how evil TV and Hollywood is, and didn't really go any further than that. Please forgive me for misunderstanding you, and at the same time thinking you hypocritical for even knowing what's on TV. It was a very disorganized message. Please also realize that I am not against good parenting, only restriction of free speech and expression.

  • Wildfirechild... Well, gee, maybe you have a problem with perception or a problem with reading between the lines. I am all for free speech but not for allowing our children to have to deal with disgusting freaks in Hollywood who want to destroy our children's minds. We have to allow freedom of expression, while at the same time, protect the innocent who don't know when they are being manipulated. Well, Geewhiz... Who'd uh thunk it!

  • Olivia, it seems you have a problem with me for having a simple belief that one day censorship will go too far, and I'm sorry you do. That's a real shame. Also, you're clearly disregarding the fact that I said I'M SORRY for not reading your response correctly. Please don't get bent out of shape just for wanting to have a constructive argument with you, if it weren't for challenged beliefs we wouldn't get anywhere, so please read my next messages carefully.

  • There's nothing wrong with you being more conservative than I, but could you specify just exactly what aspects of Hollywood and the media you're most concerned about? Please don't take it the wrong way, but you seem fairly paranoid to be bold enough to call them "disgusting freaks".

  • My main beef with Hollywood is that it's constantly sending out the message that being yourself and not changing your personality or anything else will get you nowhere. However, if you're concerned with profanity, sexuality, violence...well look at classic Looney Tunes, they're loaded with violence.

  • You can make a comparison by watching the "Little House on the Prairie" then watch most the stuff on TV today. Big difference. You can watch "Charlie Brown" then todays "The adventure of Billy and Mandy". Major difference. I would rather have the days of cinderella, mickey mouse, Isis, mighty mouse, gentle ben, gilligan's island, gomer pyle, over today's worthless junk any day. You have to view the past, to know what's going on in the now or what might become of the future. Look and learn!

  • That's only a couple of examples. I'm not saying that a lot of new TV shows are gems, in fact a lot of it is indeed garbage, however I'm irked that someone would shun a certain show or music just because it's new. People are going to like what they grew up with.

  • For example I loved cartoons like Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life, etc. when I was in elementary school and still like it now (on the rare occasions I see it). These newer cartoons, like My Gym Partner's a Monkey, I'm not so fond of, probably because it conflicts with my preference for subtle, somewhat highbrow sense of humor. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to give new shows a shot though.

  • Too long man!

Well, I guess I should say you'd like the newer cartoons better if you were still 10 years old.

At least, that's what I think.

  • Huh? I don't get what you're saying. For one thing, I'm 18, and secondly, I don't watch that many newer cartoons. I was just proving a point.

  • Of coarse there's gonna be a diffrence!

    It's not 1984 anymore.

I bet in a few years people will be wondering what happened to Spongebob, and PowerPuffGirls

  • I love Charlie Brown! Charlie Brown is a good guy. Cartoons on TV today are quite disturbing. I would suggest that all parents turn their children off from these Evil cartoons. People who want to make changes to the world and what they believe in, will do it through our children. Please, everyone, protect your children. Hollywood and others are trying to manipulate and destroy one by one. That's not to say everyone in Hollywood is, but there are a few in every crowd trying to spoil the total.

  • Exactly, and you're one of the ones trying to let a few rotten eggs spoil the whole dozen. Do you honestly believe that you can shield your children from the world's evils forever? All you can do is teach them good values and hope for the best. Each generation has their own ideas of cultural gems...

  • you have to protect your children until they are capable of protecting themselves. Letting the TV and some of these vulgar cartoons on TV today be their best friend, is not a wise decision. Sure, you need to teach them good values but you also need to protect them from those freaks out there trying to rob their minds before they have a chance to understand what it means to have good values. Understand?

  • I understand perfectly...no condescending tone necessary. However, how much are you going to keep away from your kids? Do you monitor every last book they read? Do they watch nothing but PBS? Are you so adamant in your quest to shelter your kids that rather than get a V-chip, you infringe everyone else's pleasure by getting programs off the air?

  • My point is, you're free to raise your children anyway you like, but you can't protect them forever. Nor should you mettle in the way others raise THEIRS. However, I can give you props for at least having good intentions!

  • As a parent, you should be their v-chip, microchip and face recogition camera. We bring them in the world. Youre obligated to protect them. The problem is, most parents let their children run freely. Love is unconditional but not foolish. We have to protect our children from TV or anything and anybody who wants to manipulate them. In today's world, I can only wish the world had at least half the wonderful, loving, caring and protective mother I had and have today. We protect the ones we love.

  • ...if you think TV is so bad, then how do you know about Charlie Brown? Matter of fact, why do you have a computer? That's even worse than TV. You're a hypocrite in every sense and you're making meet laugh. :P

  • i love patty peppermint

  • The new voices are annoying.

  • i know, i dont remember p. pattys voice being so high like that. i like her 70s raspy voice beteter :)

  • i rather be poor than no mom

  • I love Peppermint Patty ^^ My mom says I remind her of Peppermint Patty.

  • man, that round-headed kid can twist!

  • this brings back good and memorys. not too long after this oringally aired i lost my mama. dammit!
