  • Lol that's a Tampa

  • A guy showed me one of these with the same v8 set up last weekend. Sad part was it was rusting away along with 20 other cars that he don't have time for.

  • Dude, you are funny!

    Nice coverage and narration...

  • I Pray Saint Peter makes Ralph Nader drive a Corvair through the Pearly Gates. LOL.

  • your positivity makes you a badass haha

  • I Got A Damn Hard On From This......

  • @KruzFireStarter Thanks, glad you enjoy them!

  • I had one of these my father and I built one had a 350 chev engine wow it was fast

  • THATS HOW ITS DONE. You do not put the V8 in the front. If your gonna build a V8 Vair and do not mid-mount the motor, you might as well use a small block Ford.

  • dude your comments are anoying hahaha but you've got a nice vid dude!

  • Hey Nader, they're not rolling anywhere, and going fast. Thanks for ruining a beautiful piece of American automotive history for your own personal gain.

  • With V8s, those proved to be awesome sports cars.

  • @straightedge442 go to youtube

V-8 Corvair Crown Conversion - Maxed Out (in HD)

    Or...

    jbanet576

    Hang ON!!!

  • @CORVAIRWILD That was amazing! The thought of high-performance Corvairs is so cool, how when given a lot of power, they become sports cars. A comparison with a Corvette (being my favorite car) would be unique and would probably teach lingering skeptics a lot. Thanks for sharing.

  • @straightedge442 Isn't YT great!!! I have a couple off 442 vids. search Musclepalooza, I have the guys burning rubber outta the parking lot

  • As far as I remember, The Corvair was designed using the ideas of the Chevrolet Corvette and the Infamous Bel Air, It was designed a rear/mid engine drive, oh and by the way, the Germans designed Volkswagen and Porsche, I guess I can understand the patriotism of " American Muscle " , but if it werent for german engineering, of 4cylinder engines pushing 90 to 275hp we would still be stuck with Flat-Head V8's that are pushing 180bhp Instead of the last 40 years of 300+ hp engines.. ;)

  • @mirror7of7stone Interesting...

  • @mirror7of7stone So what you are suggesting is that without European influence, cars would still be powered by low-HP flathead V8's? Hmmm... and if Ben Franklin hadn't "discovered" electricity we'd all still be using candles. Right.

  • Chevy Corvair = a way early answer to the Toyota MR2? XD

  • HELL YAH!!!!! GEARED IN THE REAR!!!

  • so fucknin gay!!! my ae86 4 cyl throw more smoke!!!!

  • You haven't heard them all my friend! buddy bangs on my door, supprised that I'm not a little old lady, offers to buy my 66 and hollers at his old lady...THIS IS THE CAR i WAS TELLING YOU ABOUT!! you know they banned it because they would flip because too much AIR (?) would get under them at speed and they would flip. thanks..... I'll mind that....(did you know that porsche designed this car?) *sigh*

  • @P0wergl1de and they catch on fire... blah, blah...

  • Actually it DID catch on fire! don't put the old cool guy chrome lighter in the new cheapy replacement socket! LOL! I also bought the street header kit from Clarks and usually rev it when people start giving me "facts" on the 'ol girl

  • Firstly, this video shows a modified Corvair that is now a mid engine car. Secondly, a number of other cars had rear engines Porsche, Volkswagen, etc. It's an issue of poor drivers not poor car design.

  • @telegony The rear engine design does create oversteer... depends how you handle it

  • @telegony You don't know shit about a car, much less about a corvair.

  • problem with this car is, on the turns it fish tails off the road because the engine is in the rear and all the weight shifts! its a sexy car but dangerous. It went out of production due too the problem, the guy that designed the corvette designed this car

  • @PARRAVISION Wow, I didn't know these facts... I've only owned 17 Corvairs for 30 years. Thanks fer informing me. I'll scrap them immediately!!! You are TRULY a LIFE Saver!!!

  • @CORVAIRWILD Lolololololololololololololololololololololol!!!!!

  • @CORVAIRWILD

hah your a jackass RALPH!. read the reports from the national highway safety commission they preformed as well and even out handled cars before and after their production years

  • @CORVAIRWILD If you have a V8 one dont scrap it, ship it to me......and a wagon....and a spyder......oh hell....ship em all except the late model 4 door....you can keep tat one

  • @CORVAIRWILD I KNOW RIGHT! "(corvairs) unsafe at any speed-ralph nader" he is right! so that means you must go fast enough the speedo isnt on the numbers!!!

  • @PARRAVISION I believe the actual issue was with the pre-'65 swing axel rear suspension bucking under during sudden cornering.

I believe that it went out of production due to the Mustang being more appealing to the American consumer with a water cooled V8 and rear wheel drive. Chevy merely shifted gears and countered with the Camaro.

  • GM gave up on the corvair...oh well...

  • Remember reading an article in Hot Rod Magazine in the late 60s about a small Buick V8 in a Corvair. Would love to have seen it.

  • @ronaldt491 I have a vid of a Corvair w a Buick V8. Search "Corvair Buick Ventura"

  • How would one go about getting a spoiler like the one on the back of that blue and white corvair or is that custom/not reproduced?

  • I want the black one with the V8!!

  • what was the "problems" that corvairs had ?

  • @alanack67 The engine is heavy, hangs all behind the back wheels, unlike a front engine car where it's halfway over the front wheels... Makes the back easy to swing out in a curve... and cheap quality control. The 1965's were much better handling wise, but the quality all accross GM's lines was poor, and they sold anyways because the Japanese were still studying the situation

  • Ralph Nader said they were unsafe. don't know why, but they are quite safe. Also, you can't do burnouts, because of all of the traction,

  • What does it weigh???!!!!!

  • 3000lbs???

  • @captainpegs07 thanks there is old corvair up the street and i was thinking about buying it rusty though

  • That white and blue striped one was painted with rustoleum roll on paint. Looks good eh?

  • @philyt Unless that is a common paint scheme..

  • You gotta love the VAIR !

  • I have watched that burnout like 10 times in the past couple of days. I wanna build a V8 'vair soooo bad!!!

  • I am the guy in the car, that was my 1st burnout, the second burnout resulted in a broken rear.. Romp, blast race but dont do 2 burnouts!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Glad I was able to take you there...

  • thats badass

  • The black V8 is mine!

and yes I drive this car frequently.

  • You were flooring it just to get away from this freaky guy, yeah?

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • CRANK ER UP!!! Damn that sounds great

  • olds rims on that trailer

  • Evil car!

  • paint peeling power think that might make alittle effect to your mpg

  • I would be very homesick by now. How about you?

  • Nah... Ready for more...

  • your home all the rest of year why go back now :)

  • Love the small block one!

  • Poooooww.. blow me away
