Beautifully rendered CGI wodnerful mise en sene shot compotion grat sens eof vista and perspective and pin accurate rendering fot nhe F16s, Mig 25 and Mirages
Hi. Thanks. I don't mind sharing... The scenery is satellite imagery using software called FSEarthtiles (freeware)... but you could also use TileProxy (freeware). The aircraft are all freeware for FS9. The formation flights and prerecorded flying scenes were created using FSRecorder (freeware). Just so that there is no ambiguity, I flew each of the aircraft... no special programming. All video was shot using Fraps and my head tracking hardware/software "TrackIR 5".
@penneyfour I'm not sure I follow . . . you flew each aircraft simultaneously when recording this? Were they cloned planes flying in formation with you?
Hi again. No I did not fly each aircraft simultaneously. I flew the lead aircraft and recorded it with FSRecorder. When I finished the scene, I stopped FSRecorder, played back the first aircraft, and flew the second aircraft in formation with the first (all the while recording again with FSRecorder). With FSRecorder you can do this over and over, filling the skies with aircraft (as long as your frame rates can take it). This is how I create formation flying. take care... Morgan
this is a better job than i've seen in most high-budget movies! if you're not already, you need to be doing this for a living. great job. and, addressing another post on here - "flying" and "hand-holding" the camera are the secret to making CGI flying - and actually, ANY cgi motion - look real. it keeps the visual from looking too smooth, which is what kills most CGI work. again, GREAT job!
Thanks a lot. Making vids to go with music and music to go with vids has become my passion. Thanks for the kind words. By the way, I checked out your DC3 vids... excellent music. Keep it up! Maybe one day I will be that proficient with music. - Morgan
@penneyfour thanks! well, on top of being a musician, i have a warm place in my heart for flying. i got my private glider's license when i was 15 - flying before driving! my dad was a commercial airline pilot, and my brother was an F-16 pilot. if i couldn't play music, i'd be flying something right now. and again, you did an amazing job here. i love it.
Sure. As you may guess, when I make a video using Flight Simulator I set up individual scenes. I set-up both internal and external camera shots. For internal camera shots I use TrackIr 5 to look around in the cockpit. Sometimes I use a text editor to move the eyepoint forward, backward, or to the side. For External shots, I fly an invisible aircraft alongside the target aircraft and record... in this way it is like flying the camera. Hope this helps. - Morgan
Thanks alot!, when i reinstall my flight simulator X I will download all my planes and i will record vids, thats why in my channel you cannot see them, but anyway, THANK YOU A LOT!! oh and your video is great, one of the best, or, the best FSX video i have ever seen.
Unfortunately, I do not know how to do this. As far as I know, there is no way to refuel while in flight. Like with many things with FS, I just simulate the action, even though there is no real effect. If you want to try in-flight refueling, you may want to try Arma 2 or Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead... I know for sure that you can refuel in that simulator. - Morgan
Thanks friend. If you ever have the chance to visit the southwest of the United States, you might find it very beautiful. I especially like the colors of the Earth. That is why I almost exclusively use Satellite imagery in my videos. Take care! - Morgan
Yet again man, totally awesome! It's spectacular to watch, I can't imagine how man hours of editing let alone the flying to get those shots. Congrats!
Thanks a lot. You are right, this one was a lot of work, but fun all the same. The sound quality is not what I wanted it to be... but maybe better luck next time. Take care - Morgan
Thanks. My videos are now available in iPhone format (as mp4). Also, most of my soundtracks are available (as mp3). Simply go to my personal website (link at left) in my YouTube home page. Take care
Thanks Andre. I appreciate the warm comments. So how is your "little" project coming along? I am truly envious of your setup. I too am waiting to see how it turns out, please keep up with the vids. Happy New Year. - Morgan
I appreciate the feedback about the soundtrack. Once I post the .mp3 to my webpage I will send you a link so that you can download it. Take care. - Morgan
Hi. Thanks. Actually every single aircraft used in this video is freeware. Most of them are still available from sites such as Simviation. Google is the best tool to find freeware add-ons. Take care. - Morgan
flying in formation is quite a feat. Ive tried it with f/s recorder and cant get it right lol. Great video!

Awesome video, now if the flight sim could just give you those G feelings and bumps there really would be no reason to ever fly for real :)

How big (In GBs) is this FSET scenery? Also did you use Google Earth to make it because I thought they had banned it.

I have no idea how big... the resolution is not that high, so not too much i suppose. No I did not use Google Earth, as it is not available.
