@panthercat38 It wasn't, but it got better as the books progressed. I think it was around the third book (the one where voo-doo was involved and Doakes was killed) that the television series became better.

Too bad Jeff Lindsay is an atrocious author. His books were horrible. If it wasn't for the Showtime writers and Michael C. Hall, nothing would've worked for the show.
