Cleisthenes bribed the Pythia to tell the Spartans to remove the Pesistratids. Kleomenes bribed a priest and the Pythia to give a false prophecy concerning the lineage of Demaratus. Obviously, the oracle could be easily manipulated. But I've always wondered whether or not any of the prophetic oracles given by Herodotus and other authors were actually uttered before the events took place.
In English, although we call the place Macedonia, Alexander's father is known officially as Philip of Macedon. That's how he is called in the history books.
That's incorrect. All ancient Greeks used their regional name next to their name to make clear which part of the Greek world they came from. E.g. Alexander Macedon, Themistocles Athenean e.t.c. The word Macedon is the Greek word ΜΑΚΕΔΩΝ which means Macedonian and refers to the resident of the region and not the region itself. I guess non Greeks are not so familiar with the Greek language!
According to ancient Greek historians the Oracle was incredibly accurate, e.g. when Philip II of Macedon asked the oracle if he would conquer the whole of Greece. The oracle said he would but he would loose an eye in the process, and during one of his campaigns in Greece an arrow hit and blinded one of his eyes. And yes he united all the Greek city states. The Greeks believed that the oracle was the voice of Apollo himself so doubting it would mean offending the gods.
One correction that has to do with the English translation of Greek words. Macedon is the English translation of the Greek word ΜΑΚΕΔΩΝ which means Macedonian, the land of that ancient Greek kingdom is called Macedonia not Macedon as some say in English, so the correct is Philippos II of Macedonia.

Anyone know the accuracy of the Oracle? The rate of "mystics" of today are about 10-15%.

Were these gasses in every temple of the ancient peoples? Greek, Egyptian, Persian? All used these gasses under all of their temples??? Please.
