Glass plates (microscope slides?) followed by aluminum plate - how thick? Then the KNO3 - what were the metal balls? More aluminum? What was the temperature? KNO3 can be very volatile. What was the final capacitance? What are its thermal properties (Negative or positive and by how much)? Your experiment - without documentation or audio - presents more questions than answers.
