Wow, never played this game before. I searched for "Mattel Intellivision Bi-Plane (1981)" & realized it was on/part of the "Triple Action" cart, which I have (the ROM/emulator). Cool little game. I wish I could start or find a little online "Classic/Retro game lovers club" or something. A site where people can/do play rretro games online against each other on emulators that have "kaillera client". Maybe have a forum/message board for emulator/ROM help, & perhaps a "High Scores" section too.
The very first game I EVER played... I can remember how amazed I was at the concept that what I did with my fingers was affecting what was happening on the screen. Needless to say, this game started my passion for gaming, and watching this video is not without a strong sense of nostalgia. Thank you for uploading. :o)
It may not be apparent on this video, but it had a subtle physics simulation where you could stall if you climbed to steep. Trying to keep your plane going while shooting the other guy led to a LOT of screaming :-D
This was my favorite game in all, "Intellivision's' Lineup, and to think it was part of a three pack...The controls' were deadly, and stalling the bi-planes was the most fun...Hate to say it though if I could go back in time and get my skill back, I would own you fools... :)
Loved this. You people had more fun creating the games than should be legal. As an Intellivision freak who's only played this on ps2, I have to say you kick my ass at Bi-Curious Planes. Either I really, *really* suck, or it was actually easier w/ the disk controller.
me and my dad still play this from time to time on his intellivision, i always use the green plane and i ussaly win about 80% of the time. I love triple action, bi-planes and the tanks are the best
That's what i love about classic video games: despite the simple & abstract 2D graphics, the gameplay was usually ultra-realistic. The appearance still let the player use his imagination, & due to the subtle accuracies of the gameplay (in this case the stalling of the planes), playing was a very "real" experience. These games were about skill & precision. & I can't help but be the 3rd person to mention the kill at 4:00, 1 of the greatest & most graceful video game maneuvers I've ever witnessed.
Indeed, hot kill at the 4:00 mark. I didn't know the game was programmed for the planes to stall... man, that was a heck of a feature for an '82 game. Makes me kinda wish I had bought it-- but the auto game is what killed it for me. I'd have played Biplanes for hours!
OW! Great kill at 4:00. Well played lane-change maneuvers as of 6:21. The running commentary was something that we did frequently in our Intellivision household, I'm glad to see that this practice was alive at Mattel Electronics. This was indeed great.
I peed in my pants playing this game when I was 5!!! So funny

My sister and I used to play this game for hours at a time... The tank game on this cart was also quite good. More fun than armor battle in my book.

@Tagemandbagem
Without an emulator it can not.
Schnitz1 4 months ago
@Tagemandbagem By definition no your computer can not run this as it's lacking the necessary GI CP1610 CPU and supporting hardware ;)
Thank goodness for emulators though.

back in the day what was the average retail price for an intellavision game.

Depended on the title. Here, they ran $40-$60 new. Pretty much the same as today's games!
Polaris912b 2 years ago
but, consider inflation. 60 bucks back then would be more like 100 now.
Or did you already adjust? :p

Brings back a lot of memories - good kill at 4.00, but could the pilot have pulled up in time if it hadn't been the final kill of the game.
