I don't see why so many people are up in arms over Skyrim bringing new blood to the franchise. Skyrim is my first Elder Scrolls game and I love it! But you know, it's because I was introduced to Skyrim that I began to browse over the other Elder Scrolls games and I hope to play Oblivion after I finish Skyrim and I am just as excited :)

Wow... I see a lot of people complaining about level scaling... On a Daggerfall channel. That's really dumb, considering that Daggerfall is the most aggressively level-scaled game in the series.
i saw that while oblivion had only 16 miles of land to explore, this had over 60,000 miles to explore... this is the largest Elder Scrolls ever... although most of it is randomly generated, it had 150,000 villiges, cities, dungeons, and explorable areas ( somthin like that), quality over quantity? these graphics are far inferior to skyrim/oblivion (obviously) but they are WAY smaller... i want this game...
@SecretMountainTroll Actually playing the game is a problem because of its size - The world's so large that entire KINGDOMS are interchangable - In the later games, you can actually come to care about a place.
The closest thing to that I've come is hanging around a town that has a "Rusty Relics" pawnshop and bank.

Level scaling was an unknown thing back then, actually being handled way behind the scenes, so the player is introduced to an obligation to build up his power before progressing, lest he find himself hopelessly stuck at the bottom of some crazy dungeon with no way out. This happened to me several times, and it was not pretty.
If I remember clearly, the humanoid enemies with classes are all levelled, but none of the creatures. So at level 1 you'll encounter rats and elder vampires, at level 20 you'll also encounter rats and elder vampires. MQ dungeons may behave differently, but since there's a level requirement it's probably just the way they're populated rather than any level scaling. Loot is another matter, as what materials you find is completely level-scaled (though artifacts are completely fixed).
I like this game, but personally I think Arena played better, this was the buggiest game in the series, at least in my experience, and I have all of them

before oblivion/skyrim in tes games once you were at a high enough level you could just 1 hit kill just about anything in the game. in oblivion/skyrim despite how much you leveled up, you'd still have difficulty unless you chose the right skills to upgrade. nobody wants to play a game that's ridiculously easy

@kingplutoxiao1 remake is needed, but with dual-wielding and some other improvements from other games. and no bugs. thats not bethesda style, but we can always hope. skyrim just feels like fallout without guns. bethesda will probably make a game based on elsweyr or black marsh or some other province. but im happy with daggerfall, it runs on my netbook and is still fun, and bethesda would have to scale remake down for modern graphics and gamers.

@MisterAAnderson Err... no. It's partly Hammerfell and partly High Rock. They are two different provinces. It's set around the Illiac Bay which divides the two regions.
I like the idea of Daggerfall, but it's very buggy and poorly executed. So what if the game is the size of Great Britain? It's a landscape of pixels. They had very good reasons as to why they down scaled Morrowind so much. A hell of a lot more detail.
Daggerfall is such and awesome game. The best Elder Scroll game in my opinion. The only bad thing though is the Guards and the npc do nothing when you mass murder 100 people infront of them :p

What little there is, I've found ways to avoid. When I download/purchase a game, I'll enjoy it the way I want to enjoy it, (avoiding nudity) and you can enjoy it the way you want to enjoy (not avoiding nudity). Sound good? Good, glad we got that settled.

Over 10k towns.
Huge rewarding maze caverns.

before oblivion/skyrim in tes games once you were at a high enough level you could just 1 hit kill just about anything in the game. in oblivion/skyrim despite how much you leveled up, you'd still have difficulty unless you chose the right skills to upgrade. nobody wants to play a game that's ridiculously easy

@kingplutoxiao1 daggerfall is my favourite, but technically it is not the best. its the biggest tes game, and maybe the biggest game ever made, atleast the world is. but it looks just like ultima underworld, a 1992 game. graphics dont make the game, but still. daggerfall is buggy. real buggy. and the story, maybe the its that i didnt understand english at the time when i really played this, but i dont know what happens in it. but i played it as a kid, so i love it most.

@JURPO90 Dagger fall is only buggy depending on the version of it you have. There are many versions of Daggerfall. The story has 6 endings. Daggerfall is the best game in the elderscrolls series, no questions asked.

@kingplutoxiao1 maybe it is, but this is another fallout-type of debate if the new games live up to the old games. but arena/daggerfall/battlespire are so different to redguard/morrowind and skyrim/oblivion. they are all like 3 different series of games. im just dreaming of a wondergame, daggerfall with modern graphics, physics, but with the big world and the good old gameplay. btw i have the custom installer daggerfall with community patches, and even thats buggy.

@JURPO90 Theres a mod for obvilion a daggerfall one. There might be one for Skyrim, but in my opinion. They should remaster Daggerfall. But make the gameplay the exact same, no level scaling, and don't make it hold your hand. The game would be great, speaking of fallout 3 is like a wannabe FPS with RPG elements.

@kingplutoxiao1 remake is needed, but with dual-wielding and some other improvements from other games. and no bugs. thats not bethesda style, but we can always hope. skyrim just feels like fallout without guns. bethesda will probably make a game based on elsweyr or black marsh or some other province. but im happy with daggerfall, it runs on my netbook and is still fun, and bethesda would have to scale remake down for modern graphics and gamers.

But yeah, if they remade/remastered it. They shouldn't have the same exact features(but no level scaling).

I like the idea of Daggerfall, but it's very buggy and poorly executed. So what if the game is the size of Great Britain? It's a landscape of pixels. They had very good reasons as to why they down scaled Morrowind so much. A hell of a lot more detail.

Daggerfall is such and awesome game. The best Elder Scroll game in my opinion. The only bad thing though is the Guards and the npc do nothing when you mass murder 100 people infront of them :p

@ddgg00 Yes I am. I just don't want them in the games I play. In any case, I've started playing it now since I found out there wasn't nearly as much nudity as I thought there was. What little there is, I've found ways to avoid. When I download/purchase a game, I'll enjoy it the way I want to enjoy it, (avoiding nudity) and you can enjoy it the way you want to enjoy (not avoiding nudity). Sound good? Good, glad we got that settled.
