Besides which, becoming a superpower happened largely as a result of the economic vacuum of the post-war years (per Agunstinb' post).
Fixing the system within the existing structure is very hard to imagine as it's likely the post specie-currency structure itself that is failing.

Greece is at the point where it is questionable if that can ever pay back there debt, it is 147% of there GDP and the 2010 deficit is 10.5% of GDP and their economy shrunk by 5% last year. The US, while fight wars all over the place is, has 96% of its GDP in debt and 8% of it GDP in deficit and the US economy grow by over 2%. The US could stop there wars and cut defense by $300B and Stimulus cost in 2010 is $400B, so that was $700B of the $1.1T deficit in 2010.

The credit for the discovery of antibiotics generally goes to Louis Pasteur and Robert Koch who described it in 1877, before Weksman was born. There was 11 other antibiotics before Weksman found Streptomycin, they just did not cure tuberculosis.

It will be interesting to see how the American govs will keep lying about their ability to pay their debts, now that new rating agencies are emerging.
Probably, in a few years from now, we will see some documentary in RTд, aljazeera or euronews, explaining how and what the US has done to push debt, and the consequences.
It doesn't matter how this will end, the process that led the US here will be interesting thing to study, regardless of the outcome.

What part of "Survival of the fittest" do you people not understand? The less others have, the more there is for those of us in the West to grab. My home, two cars, a Piper Chieftain, a 40' Carver, and a Winnebago RV are all paid for and I retired at age 48. It's just this simple, "You have, we want, we take". Facts are troublesome things for some people. The world is a feeding trough. The shallow end is nothing but broth.

The debt that Greece has incurred was forced upon them by Goldman Sachs and WITH the help of the corrupt Greek puppet George Papandreou, which makes it an illegal debt under the Greek constitution. Therefore the phoney debt has to be paid by Wallstreet who have willfully created this mess. The US/Zionist regimes hold Greece in a stranglehold to keep it forever in their 'debt' and suck it dry, as well as take over political control of the country. Like stopping the ship headed for Gaza..
