Thisis a traditional Irish tune,I think cobered best ny Thin Lizzy. although I'm a Metallica fan, their cover doesn't come close to the soulfulness of this one.
I was lucky enough to see Thin Lizzy when they were a crap bar band, they were lousy, maybe the seventh time i saw them they got better and better Back uo band to slade and deep purple then good enough to stand on there own, sendond last time i saw them the drummer did the best solo i had ever seen, they became truly talented. R.I.P. Phil, I remember you getting Drunk down at the Dirty Duck in Walsall, West Midlands.
This was in fact recorded in 1973 in PAL 576i (625) Colour video onto 2 inch quad VT. This is a 16mm b/w film recording telerecording/kinescope) made at broadcast for engineering purposes. The tape was wiped for re-use. This in theory could be restored to colour, see Dad's Army" room at the bottom" which has already had this treatment. This clip if you look closely has video efects and film scratches!
It sure was recorded in PAL 576i (625 Colour video) using my ALL TIME FAVOURITE CAMERA...You know the one, Look at 02:16 in this film clip There she is... I LOVE YOU EMI-2001 (They had 4 Tubes NOT 3 like other cameras from the same era) I wish I had one in my Camera collection.
I bet there are one or two still in existants today Even if they are not in use in todays 1080 High Res. Blue-ray era.
heroin is a bullshit lie ruining countless lives and stealing souls. Any terrorist involved in its sale and production should be shot for the worthless shite they ar
This is the very recording and programme that made me a Thin Lizzy fan. I remember seeing them on Top of the Pops for the first time and being captivated by their sound. Some 36 years later I am still a massive Lizzy fan.
Unfortunately the BBC didn't keep a colour copy of this show, only about 4 or 5 shows from 1973 exist in their archive, they wiped loads of shows from 1964 to 1976.

Too bad too that the aspect ratio is fouled up, but hey...girls in dresses and skirts! Those were the days. Can't complain about that.
