I was going to Sanford on a fully loaded First Choice 767. I was expecting to take off and go to Manchester to refuel and then cross the Atlantic but the pilot went full throttle at the beginning of the runway and we lifted off the ground a few minutes before I saw grass. He turned over the channel and went straight to Sanford.
bristol airport at MAXIUM can handle a b767 with less than half its fuel tanks full ( a fully loaded 767 wouldnt beable to take off from bristol) you deffo did not see a B777 at bristol it has never been done. MD10/11 are also to large for this airport. the largest airliner to serve bristol regulary is a b757 from continetal to new york.
I flew on OOBL into MAN from the dominican republic in august, great service, but being forced to listen to Peter Andre and Jordan's Song during landing was horrid.

A330 takes 2220m to tke off at MTOW.
At 80% of Mtow it can take off in 2000m
bristol airport runway is 2011m
Not much of a scary-hairy landing, as the 763 can land at mtow in 1800m

Yea u gotta remember , the B767 cant flare at bristol and it needs time to stop unfortunitly its just a slam down ;)

thomsonfly645k 2 years ago
yes aerlingus ones :)
BIASpotter 2 years ago
Yeah, they did, i came in on an A330 With aer Lingus from Dublin, but they've since pulled out of Bristol, and you only get crappy Ryanair!
annagilda 2 years ago
Aer Lingus use A330s into Cardiff currently for charters
thomsonfly645k 2 years ago
They still could handle them ( obviously ) It's just pilots down want to risk hairy landings on short runways anymore

Kibble28 4 years ago
Hmmm i could be quite easy to mistake a 767 for a 777 ,I dont think bristols runway is long enough for 777's
Flookie08 4 years ago
it had 6 wheels on each main gear fing
and 777 can stop quite quickly
Kibble28 4 years ago

andym551 4 years ago
its a 767-300ER and the runway is to small for 777s to takeoff from.
andym551 4 years ago
we were in the same airline and same plane to greece it was cool we went from bristol aswell
tubtom1 4 years ago
i didn't think a 767-300 could land at bristol because of the 1.30 mile runway 'roosterhut'?
themonster75 4 years ago
