am studying medicine, and i get stuck many times, when i see the whole huge material i have to cover .. thanks a lot for your advice and the beautiful illustration !
Great video! It's a great way to encourage kids and help them understand their book better. I fell asleep reading at night too! So I will make sure I sit up and keep my feet down.
Thank you for this advice. I'm reading Tom Sawyer right now and it's due in a week. I have no idea why it has stayed in circulation as long as it has. It's scattered, and has no plot; the characters are two-dimensional and boring. I love to read, usually, and classics are usually my favorites but... Ugh. However I will try to follow this advice.
Well, Ive never had problems with reading a book and Ive already known those hints, but I must say, the similarity with the tree was really cool idea!
I'm going to try these tricks. My BIG problem is I ALWAYS get tired and even fall asleep while reading. After reading for a short time the words start blending together and it seems as though I'm just reading the words with no meaning behind them. I'm going to start taking notes and reading with a brighter light...maybe that will help. Thank you :)
I just wanted to say thank you for your book, The Read-Aloud Handbook. It's one of the best non-fiction books I have ever read. Because of your selfless writing my wife and I read prolifically to our now five-year-old daughter and going into Kindergarten this fall she is a fluent reader. While that's nice, more importantly we wouldn't trade the time we've spent reading to her (read: being with her) for anything. The thoughts in your book helped make that a reality. Thank you very much.

Wow.
I appreciate all the effort you put into this video.
I like the analogy that you used; I will always remember this video now as I read my chemistry textbook (book/subject I don't want to read).
THANKS

Love the narrator, he's got the tone just right, not too academic or condescending but neither does he sound like a fool!
