Z Series FTW! It is so porabale and compact and very, very, fst and powerful! FW is good to, as a matter a fact all Vaios are great! The first thing that gets your attenion from afar is how elegant and different there designs are. Next, is how nice there screens are! It being a sony you get very nice hardware.

This is what I am buying the FW series. Great bang for the buck. I configured the same exact specs on Dell XPS 16 and it came up to $1500 as opposed to Sony FW590 for $1200. Cha-ching, DELL what are you doing???

the rest is used as backup, what can do is burn the backup to a disk then you can delete the partition, thus gaining 10 gb

the FW290 series was just launched recently, it sports a Radeon HD 3650 and 512mb VRAM, unfortunately its not listed on the Canadian website yet, only the American one. :(

I'm planning to get one soon but I want 1366X768 with 256MB vram? 1600X900 would be too small for my eyes. Since I could't find any 1600X900 to try in my local sonystyle I need to ask you guys.. will I able to change the resolution to 1366X768 if I get it. what should I do?

i got the 1600x900. The only thing you can do it adjust the DPI setting to make the fonts bigger. However, it doesnt seem to effect all fonts.

the 1600x900 is VERY small, I have 20/20 vision, but its a real strain on my eyes.

yeap, I saw the z590 on display, fonts are tooo small. Fortunately, I found z555 on the Canadian sonystyle which has 256mb vram and 1366X768. Thats exactly what I'm looking for. I hope they ship to US. anyway thanks born

Just wanted to add. I saw the prototype model in Sony Style Paragon in Singapore - they have it proudly on display there.

The screen is SO dangerously thin that on that criteria alone I am very scared to buy it. They say the carbon fiber is strong - yes - but the screen is so it flexes like crazy when u close it by one corner, and if you dare knock the screen when the lid is open, id fear is would shatter!

This isn't a gaming laptop. It's for entertainment, the gfx card provided from ATI is more than enough to cover the BluRay quality discs and supports the 1600x900 screen resolution. If you want a gaming laptop, get XPS or a high end 17" laptop. I'm personally getting the card just because it's more reliable than the GMA. If the GMA were to get fried, the whole motherboard goes.
