  • out of all the fucken songs they played, which 1 is the national anthem of england?

  • The national anthem of the United Kingdom, "God Save the Queen", was performed as the flags of the United Kingdom and Hong Kong were lowered.

  • @qiranwang Boy are you stupid!!!

  • 这世界仍然被白人控制着,我很难过 !

  • @kioka2009 我也是。我们需要改变这一点。

  • wasnt singapore independent from malaysia because it was so powerful in comparison

and yes chinese ppl did have something to do with it

  • @Crapidiot But of course Britain had to defend Singapore during the 60s during the Indonesian Confrontation. Indonesia was determined to eliminate Malaysia and was sending guerillas across the Malacca Strait desguised as fishermen.

  • im with you on that one. most of these filthy free tibet whitetrash supporters cant find tibet on a map.

  • I am glad to be a Chinese Canadian !

  • @jdiddy666 Sure can. It's the country with the big Chinese boot print on it.

  • Absolute nonsense- I don't think I've ever heard something as far from the truth.

  • The success of HK comes mainly from the hardworking resourceful Chinese, not the British. How many colonial countries of Britain is as successful as HK? None that I know of. It would be the British who should thank HK for the reaped benefits.

  • I don't disagree on what you say, but Singapore is quite successful - and is also due to the work of its people, not what the brit had done.

  • @utube881 You mean the Brits had no part in it except for building the port, starting the major trading houses, instituting the rule of law, creating a banking system, bringing English education, and teaching everyone the English language, the language which now allows them to make money. And that's just for starters.

  • @lauwai4life

And just for starters...You can't be serious if you didn't also credit the brits for having found a cure for cancer and brought world peace.

  • @utube881 Cancer? World Peace? Maybe not yet, but soon.

  • @lauwai4life

And also coming soon in YouTube...ladies and gentlemen...look for the reincarnation of the brit empire by lauwai4sure.

  • @utube881 You say that like it would be a bad thing.

  • @lauwai4life

It was good only for the brits and bad for everbody else. If that was ever a good thing, why do you think virtually all its former colonies bordered with all these struggles/bloodsheds to become independent countries?

  • @utube881 Virtually all? Most of the countries where there was violence (mainly the African colonies) soon descended into despotism, sectarianism, and civil war, only recently gaining stability. Even the best of them were riddled with corruption. While the idea of independence looked good on paper, many of these countries didn't have the political maturity govern themselves. The majority of colonies achieved independence as a result of evolution. All remain members of the Commonwealth.

  • @lauwai4life

"...result of evolution". Really? So breaking away from the brits were just naturally progressions, just like homo sapiens evolved from monkeys, huh?

And as for Wealth Common only to the brits...what exactly does it do except for holding games that nobody cares about?

Now what have they really done for Hong Kong that was NOT driven purely by greed, deceit, and exploitation? Sorry, roads, schools, etc are pedestrian stuff that any gov't could've done, they don't count.

  • @Tristar10h This is what you do; you find a globe and then you find these countries: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, etc.: they're all ex-colonies, and they're all doing very well. And guess what? They were able to do it because they had a strong legal foundation, minimum corruption (except for India), and democracy, all concepts provided by the British. The British provided the institutions which allowed Hong Kong to succeed.

  • @lauwai4life

Looks good at first glance, but if you carey to look deeper, you'd see that they made sure all were worthwhile for them. So, at best these were nothing but business exchanges.

As for HK, she succeeds because of her people, not some noble class who departed more than a decade ago.

  • @utube881 Of course it had to be worthwhile for them. As if China ever did anything for anybody without some kind of payback. In HK, it was a partnership between the British and the Chinese, which worked exceptionally well. The British provided the institutions, the laws, the banking system, which allowed the Chinese to use their superb entrepreneurial gifts. No civil war, no Red Guards, no famines. I know because my family lived there in the 30s and I've spent 11 years in China.

  • @lauwai4life

Sure, thats international poliitics, everbody is self-serving, looking out for his own self interest, and thats okay. But portraying worldwide exploitations as a gift to the world is just as absurd as the Cultural Revolution.

  • Get it right. We have not had any say. Our stock market is screwed over. THE UK is the 5th largest economy in the world behind China (China is expected to overtake Germany by the end of 2007) in terms of GDP.

Any sane person will tell you it is not all rosy for HK after the hand over and many believe we are worse off.

  • About time a person from HK tells him to shut up.

    lol

  • Questions and Answers (cont.)

In 1984, British bowed to China and agreed to return Hong Kong to China. Is Great Britain that great as what she was called? Answer: No. China is more greater J

In 1997, 1st of July, All Chinese celebrating Hong Kong return to China throughout China. Did the UK television have reported this news? Answer: NO.

  • Obviously as they got a successful city added to their country.

  • That was just after the falklands war. British military power was stretched to the limit against Argentina, the British would not want to risk Royal Navy power again, against the Chinese.

I think its amazing that the Britiah managed to keep hold of Hong Kong for this long, I mean then they had the cheek to make the Chinese wait an extra 13 years as well.

  • I am glad to be a Chinese Canadian !

  • Fuck you for your stupidity。

  • @WDMarx hey, maybe you should keep quite and not express yours opinion ? To be fair, you tried doing it in tiannamen square on the 4th of june 1989 and look what happened....

  • @677325 Hong Kong was the principal source of western hard currency during the years prior to China's reform and opening up. China needed Hong Kong to stay British. Hong Kong paid China for its water and for much of its food including fish, chickens, pork, vegetables, etc

  • Questions and Answers (cont.)

In 1945, The British soldiers were the first to leave Hong Kong when Japanese entering Hong Kong. Will the British fight for us? Answer: NO. AND WE DIDN'T EXPECT YOU WILL.

In 1982, Thatcher felt down on the stair in Beijing because her legalization of the 3 treaties was not compromise by the Chinese. She thought she could keep Hong Kong as permanent colony because of these 3 treaties long time ago. Is she a loser? Answer: YES.

  • @fengxie07 The Japanese entered Hong Kong in 1941. The British garrison, reinforced with Canadian troops fought against overwhelming odds defending the colony and when the Japanese won, the Commonwealth troops were marched off as slaves. The didn't leave in '45, they came back in '45.. Chinese officials originally thought it was a joke when they ceded the mosquito ridden island to the British. They thought Britain would never be able to do anything with it. Silly Chinese.

  • @lauwai4life

Heroic brits defending HK? That's got to be the joke of the day! You just lost credibility as far as I'm concerned. Silly you, whatever your nationality.

  • Questions and Answers:

In 1840, HK Island was ceded to barbarian British forever according to the Treaty of Nanjing. Opium was legalized. Is this treaty an evil act? Answer: YES.

In 1854, Kowloon peninsula was ceded to barbarian British forever according to the Humen Treaty. Is this treaty an evil act? Answer: YES.

In 1897, New Territories were forced to cede to barbarian British for 100 years. Is this treaty an evil act? Answer: YES.

  • It does not matter if Hong kong was ruled by China or U.K. The most important thing is the welfare of the Hong Kong people. Besides,as long as the rule under China or U.K. is a liberal, it is not a problem.Does it matter the race, colour or creed of the leader, as long as he or she has the best interests of the people at heart?

  • I feel Hong Kong is so much more communist in it's nature today rather than a liberal, free flowing society that so many people were used to. Proof: it's official ceremonies are now so copied off Beijing's communist ceremonies- political and militarily.

  • Man, all you guys are so silly...

  • LOL. If China wants start anything, they're be get bogged down in their own country when we start arming all their pro-independence ethnic minorities. Taiwan is already armed to the teeth.

  • Oh, you silly child! You make me laugh. :)

  • Those British in the TV look funny. WAHAHAHAA!

  • I dont know what the army commander is saying. Is he singing?

  • Yes.

  • where you are from hong kong are u.k.?

  • Canada
