HaHa, there's one thing this guy conveniently forgets to tell us after bragging about how much better his CB radio is than a Ham Radio. And that is that his RCI 2950 so-called CB radio is not a CB radio at all. It's a HAM, yes, HAM RADIO. It's a 10 meter ham radio that is modified to include the 11 meter CB channels in addition to it's native 10 meter ham frequencies. He's using one of those HAM RADIOS that he hates so much. Just modified to transmit on the CB band.
ok i live in a canyon down in a hole in Idaho and I run 200 watts or better and I can get out at all. My old man has ham and he gets out all day long on 2 meters and ham so you don't know any thing about radio
the one thing I got from this video was, he was not able to understand that a cb can only talk state side with illegal power! Where as with a 10M or any other HF band you can talk worldwide on legal power and a simple "dipole".

You can talk 'skip' with a CB. 4watts would make it challenging, get yourself an export radio like a connex, they put out about 40watts and make it easier to make out of state contacts. Or get a 'kicker' like Mike shows in his video, you would have NO problem making out of state contacts with 100watts. Remember, CB or Ham radio, i'ts just a hobby, don't take either too seriously. this video is great! can't stop laughing...I have zero knowledge of radios, no electronic knowledge but I have a general ham license, test was super easy just memorize the answers that are posted online.Sorry to say but hams are no longer radio gods, anyone including this guy can get a ham license for $14.00 and an hour of memorizing answers. So the only thing that separates us hams from cb ops are a few bucks and a little memorizing :)

Ii own a 2950,but i have also owned 3 Icoms,Icoms are far better radios than an RCI,most or all the later models cover 160 meters to 10 meters.i have worked all 50 states on an Icom746.An RCI only covers 2 bands 12 and 10 meters there is an 11 meter mod,so 3 bands is all you will get.....ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN CELL WOULD PREFER AN ICOM

I have always held to the principle that the difficulty of each level of testing, including the code requirement when it was required, was to simply determine just "HOW BADLY" did one want the license. In other words how much sh*t a person was willing to walk thru in order to get the license.

I do believe , having multi bands like HAM are better than just 27 MHz band, however, there is no reason not to share all of the HAM BAND with CB band. suggesting 100 watts or less for those who are without license, with HAM license 1.5 kW . what we need is expansion of CB. manufacture can sell many radios, if CB / HAM band share. there is not enough HAM to use all that HAM band. hopefully, some radio manufacture realize it, and push for such option. best for all HAM and CBer.
try Talking to the US marine core in Iran with your CB or what about Mexico. But sometimes I use a CB just to talk to truckers but I use only the recommended 4 watts for CB and my ham radio base station has about 3000 watts but I dont ever use that much power because I dont need it. Oh and try and do digital with CB radio and yes we do have a digital way of communicating and you wouldn't be able to decode it unless you want to spend about $3000 maybe even more then that

LMAO... too bad a 2950 is a 10m ham rig, converted to operate on 11m. I had one, loved it. Upgraded to a Uniden 2510. It too, was converted to run on 11m. Both rigs max carrier power was 5 watts, would swing to about 20-25. Stuff that into a linear, oh baby! Oh ya, I'm a ham, too.

I use on a daily basis a Johnson Messenger Valiant transmitter,55 years old, and a NCL NC 173 reciever. 64 years old. I use them on AM The Johnson does about 150 and works like new the NCL recieve is awesome and since it has a BFO I can copy sideband! I want to see a 50 year old RCI that still works! Personally, I agree that amateur radio is overrated versus CB radio. However, you use too much wind in order to express it and making your video tooooooo long-winded and plain bad. In my opinion, Paltalk Messenger is the number one alternative to CB and Amateur Radio worldwide. Paltalk provides voice chat rooms with thousands of people to talk to 24/7. While CB radio has agitators looking to start fights and Jamming up the radio. Amateur radio is dying due to the high cost of equipment.

petition FCC , to convert under used 50 MHz into CB band. give 27 MHz to HAM, problem solved. 27 MHz antenna is too long for mobile use, and too noise, AM, is bad idea , FM is way to go.

@kodakZX1 The FCC finds you on a complaint basis. For example if you interfere with the neighbor's TV they can file a complaint and the FCC will use oscilloscopes and directional finders (in there vehicles) to trace your signal. HAM operators (at least the ones who kiss ass and don't have a life) use directional finders too and stalk the "suspect" by parking down the street.
While I love talking on the cb, I am also a amateur radio op. With that being said, if this guy truly wants to make a good arguement, at least get his facts straight.

fact is anyone can get a ham license these days. The FCC gives you the answers to all the tests, memorize them, answer 75% correct and you too can be an extra class ham. No experience or radio knowledge needed!!! I don't think the FCC takes either ham radio or cb seriously these days. So pick which one you like and talk it up, no one really cares.. My guess is within 5 yrs ham radio will become just like cb, unlicensed 'free for all'

You can talk 'skip' with a CB. 4watts would make it challenging, get yourself an export radio like a connex, they put out about 40watts and make it easier to make out of state contacts. Or get a 'kicker' like Mike shows in his video, you would have NO problem making out of state contacts with 100watts. Remember, CB or Ham radio, i'ts just a hobby, don't take either too seriously. Enjoy radio!

Ii own a 2950,but i have also owned 3 Icoms,Icoms are far better radios than an RCI,most or all the later models cover 160 meters to 10 meters.i have worked all 50 states on an Icom746.An RCI only covers 2 bands 12 and 10 meters there is an 11 meter mod,so 3 bands is all you will get.....ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN CELL WOULD PREFER AN ICOM

And the 2950 has good sensitivity but HORRIBLE selectivity. Bleedover from adjacent channels makes it close to useless as a base. Only good as a mobile. But still, it's a modified Ham radio whether he admits it or not.

I use to be in C.B. and I am glad I am not now, bunch of noise and stupid crap happening all the time there. Now I can talk twice the distance with the same amount of power and do not have to mess with all the stupid crap. You notice on that video that non linear amplifier , you mean you can't talk the distance with 25w? When I doing 80 mile +, with 5w via a repeater. or get on HF and make a 6000 mile contact with 25w. dude needs to stay on CB and have fun listening to oneself talk and be vain

He is correct in that ham radio is more for making long distance contacts,contesting and exchanging qsl cards. CB is more for casual, fun, rag chewing with friends. hey, I have a 2950 that I will trade for your icom. you can peak and tweak, add an echo board to it. you can whistle into it all day and watch the needle swing. if you can't whistle, you can say hhhhhhheeeeeeelllllllllllooooooo, aaaaauuuuudddddiiiiioooooo if you like that better.
P.S. the 2950 is a ham radio, and the amp is a 10 meter ham amp, so try again.

I do believe , having multi bands like HAM are better than just 27 MHz band, however, there is no reason not to share all of the HAM BAND with CB band. suggesting 100 watts or less for those who are without license, with HAM license 1.5 kW . what we need is expansion of CB. manufacture can sell many radios, if CB / HAM band share. there is not enough HAM to use all that HAM band. hopefully, some radio manufacture realize it, and push for such option. best for all HAM and CBer.

try Talking to the US marine core in Iran with your CB or what about Mexico. But sometimes I use a CB just to talk to truckers but I use only the recommended 4 watts for CB and my ham radio base station has about 3000 watts but I dont ever use that much power because I dont need it. Oh and try and do digital with CB radio and yes we do have a digital way of communicating and you wouldn't be able to decode it unless you want to spend about $3000 maybe even more then that

LMAO... too bad a 2950 is a 10m ham rig, converted to operate on 11m. I had one, loved it. Upgraded to a Uniden 2510. It too, was converted to run on 11m. Both rigs max carrier power was 5 watts, would swing to about 20-25. Stuff that into a linear, oh baby! Oh ya, I'm a ham, too.

I use on a daily basis a Johnson Messenger Valiant transmitter,55 years old, and a NCL NC 173 reciever. 64 years old. I use them on AM The Johnson does about 150 and works like new the NCL recieve is awesome and since it has a BFO I can copy sideband! I want to see a 50 year old RCI that still works! Personally, I agree that amateur radio is overrated versus CB radio. However, you use too much wind in order to express it and making your video tooooooo long-winded and plain bad. In my opinion, Paltalk Messenger is the number one alternative to CB and Amateur Radio worldwide. Paltalk provides voice chat rooms with thousands of people to talk to 24/7. While CB radio has agitators looking to start fights and Jamming up the radio. Amateur radio is dying due to the high cost of equipment.

For example if you interfere with the neighbor's TV they can file a complaint and the FCC will use oscilloscopes and directional finders (in there vehicles) to trace your signal. HAM operators (at least the ones who kiss ass and don't have a life) use directional finders too and stalk the "suspect" by parking down the street.

fact is anyone can get a ham license these days. The FCC gives you the answers to all the tests, memorize them, answer 75% correct and you too can be an extra class ham. No experience or radio knowledge needed!!! I don't think the FCC takes either ham radio or cb seriously these days. So pick which one you like and talk it up, no one really cares.. My guess is within 5 yrs ham radio will become just like cb, unlicensed 'free for all'

@MrDigic4 I use CB and the Amateur bands....CB is efficient for local transmission, and on SSB 10m you get get a longer transmission...and if the ionosphere is in a good mood, you'll get a good skip that will send your signal even further. I think we can both agree that when the proverbial S.H.T.F, CB and AMATEUR bands will both have an integral part in communication, locally and globally. The FCC is the true enemy....Amateur and CB are simply, frequencies with a different wavelengths.

And not 28 mhz or more.
So the triple 5 is also illigal for amatures.

This clown was probably trying to talk on the ham radio with a cb antenna. That is why the FCC should never have taken morse code out of the ham radio tests. To keep clowns like this off of ham radio.
