As one who doesn't know much about railroad history or computer graphics this impressed the hell out of me! What kind of software is capable of this and how much does it cost? What kind of computer do you need to do this? This is amazing.
I can't believe you go to all the trouble to make these nice realistic scenes - and then ruin it all by doing something as unrealistic as putting British Southern Railway and Great Western rolling-stock into this otherwise convincing US screensaver.
Of course putting buffers on the American loco and also car headlight lenses on it destroys the illusion too. The train may go faster if it had the required 2-man crew too.
Pity, as I'd happily buy it without these fundamental blunders of fact. :)
@zoics1 Thanks for totally missing my point. :) No, I can't think of a reason to pay for any screensaver. I was just pointing out that, to me at least, it seemed silly that they put an American locomotive running through American scenery - but put a British train behind it. So if I WAS going to buy a screensaver, that would be enough to put me off buying this one. Yeah, pedantic aren't I? :)
@emdB67 I guess I did miss your point. The only point I did get was the point of the people who designed this screen saver. The point of that, was to show off your NVIDIA graphic's card capabilities. So whatever point you're trying to make, I missed it. Maybe you're the only one who can make that point because the rest of the world gets it?
@zoics1 Overall, I've no doubt the point I was trying to make is of little importance to most people. But anyone who knows a bit about world railways / railroads will know what I'm talking about. Basically, the train on the screensaver just couldn't exist. Other than the locomotive and cars being from opposite sides of the world, the couplings on them would also be different.
But I do understand your point too. For testing one's graphics card, it does a good job of that. :)
@zoics1 Exactly. This was made by people that create 3d rendering and such for visual impact. The "mismatched" parts or whatever just don't matter do most of us.
This train looks a bit better than the NVIDIA one in my opinion.
Also, according to the NVIDIA site, 7600gt is as low as you should go and run this. I had an old 7300 laying around and it worked on a lower resolution and details down to get over 30fps. My GTX470s are still asleep running it.

@emdB67 Why pay for it? Just go to Nvidia dot com web site and go to their Cool Stuff section and you can download it and about 5 other - FOR FREE!!!
Check it out.
