God watching this makes me want to be a teenager in the 80's cuz being a teen today sucks nothing is fun and the music is god awful I really wish the 80's music and style just came back so then I would fit right in and everything would be amazing

Heart, on the other hand, is an all-time-great band that's centered around two women. (I think Ann and Nancy actually fired the rest of the original band after one shot too many at Ann's weight, if Behind the Music is right about it...)

You can't make a comparison here. 15 year difference, also the early 90's was the end of the hard rock era. If they were to rise to fame at the same time, then we will see. Heart disappeared too because of the grunge rock era. Its all timing here.

thats taken me back 20 years, thats an EXCELLENT video of the original members, doesn't matter if they were performing to the music in the background, Janet still sings fantasically and the rest were just having a laff knowing what was going on... for the time they were the best all girl band going, i lucky saw them back then too, those were the days, unlike the cack you get now!

its a bit phony to call this "live"...the backing track is the CD, but yes, Janet's vocals are live. So she is singing, but the music from the band is canned.
The music we have now sucks soooo much. I wish the music now was as great as this. Very few great 80's bands that still perform are left standing nowadays because all the HORRIBLE new bands that swallow them up.
this is the most AMAZING performance that I have ever seen from Vixen...not like their performances are bad but they are the most awesome band that I have ever listened to and I wish that I was alive when they came out or else I would have tried to go to some of their shows. I agree with the others.....Vixen is not Vixen without Janet Gardner in it....she was the heart and soul of this band....not to mention the sexiest female rocker of all time - those legs, that ass, that face - mmm, she was a sexy bitch!!
...now I have a reason to invent the time machine...I want to get back to '89 !! (when Vixen, Poison, Danger Danger, Bulletboys, Bang Tango, Quiet Riot, Faster Pussycat, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Guns'n'Roses an so on...ruled the world !)
It's called "live to track", meaning the band wasn't playing but the singer WAS singing live. All the bands that played that night had to do that, as there was no time to set up and tear down every band's own equipment.
That makes me feel better, I almost lost some respect, because I hate it when bands lip sync or use auto tune live. But the idea that they didn't have time to set up equipment, that's good enough for me.
I hate to say things like this, because people wanna start shit, but I must...Vixen rocks, but this is not live. I doubt the performance was dubbed, but the video is. The audio is the original studio tracks, with some added vocals, and the fade on Edge removed.
No argument here. It's definitely lip-synched with Janet's vocal added. The guitar solo always gives it away! I posted two other Vixen TV performances where they did perform live. Check them out!
Seen 'em, love 'em. And yeah, it's the solos that tip me off, too. It surprises me though, since Vixen was great live! Either this was intended to be like the Trixter video for One In A Million, or they just had a bad night.
I think they thought that removing the fade at the end was enough to "mix things up". Management probably told them it was the safe thing to do due to the performances going out on live TV on New Year's Eve. They never thought that folks would be posting it on something called "YouTube" and watching it 18 years later! :)

No. They HAD to do it, as there were too many bands on stage and no time to set up every band's equipment. However, Janet was 100% live.
