  • this is haunting...perfect for this time of year here in the North East US, leaves dropping...darker ealier, colder days...

  • i'm completely mesmorized by this

  • Hard to beat this one!!!

  • Whenever I feel Lousy, I always dream to this song. Somehow it connects me to the universe and everything. And when the song is done, I feel encourage to do things. Thank you is all that is left to say. I'm glad they left the major label and did something fantastically drastic to music today. Blessed!

BEST: All my LOVERS are here with me. All my past and future.

  • It happens to me too, this song has a hidden message or something :) I just love it, it makes me high!!!!!!

  • this is there best song

  • so good

  • muse??? wake up...must be some kind of a joke (I hope for you kiddos)

  • I believe radiohead is the most advanced band of our ages. however, watch muse's blackout live at wembley, then try again, they are undoubtedly talented as well.. But it's important to realize however, that you are comparing apples and oranges, over a computer screen nonetheless.

  • ear.

    gasm.

  • i agree. there is no comparison. Muse is a rock band, Radiohead are the prophets of our generation.

  • But muse is still fucking awesome

  • Why does evrybody compare Muse to Radiohead or Radiohead to Muse. I mean they're both great.

Both. Comparisons are bad for music, it makes you think there has to be a band that is the best, but there is not. Don't compare music, try to like all music you hear. It'll make you happier in the end. :D

  • You are right. However, I would say that Radiohead is the most passionate bands of all time

  • agreed

  • i agree with you gentry1678

  • Somebody was asking for a better band...How about Sigur Ros? If not better, they are definitely a close second. Many would argue they come first. At the very least, I will say Sigur Ros' live performances are better...

  • One of the best versions of this song. Still my fave Radiohead song.

  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Imagine being there for this show...

We're all freaking out about these "perfect audio" youtube videos so I can't even fathom how magical this would be in person.

  • @judamann123:

    LOVE the ondes martenot!!!

  • there is no way muse is anywhere close to radiohead. Radiohead cannot be compared to anyone, they are invulnerable to comparisons. deal with it.

  • name a band out there better right now than Radiohead

  • Muse, by the smallest of fractions. But Radiohead still holds on pretty tight

  • By what, the fraction of exagerration?

MUSE, to me, is a reasonable aside.

Most people I talk to cite MUSE above Radiohead because they think they're more "powerful". They apply driving rock beats more often. Well colour me woopy. The songs Just and My Iron Lung?

The artistic importance of Radiohead sinks MUSE into an operatic rock-novelty.

    *To me.

  • love this

  • I did take a peek at an official songbook - the one I looked at says "Freetime"

  • stupendous

  • they are stunning

  • Stupenda.

  • Awesome performance

  • could you people stop comparing muse and radiohead please? theyve evolved in different ways and now they hardly sound alike anymore. and that fucker who dare to rubbish the beatles should burn in hell.

  • Comment removed

  • You do talk a lot of shit.

Funny shit, mind, but shit nonetheless.

    And funny.

    Did i say "funny"?.

    Shit though.

    But funny.

  • this is like radiohead's mideastern kind of song in some way i compare to muse's united states of eurasia but they don't sound anything alike

  • thom york said that this song was the best thing he's ever produced

  • i agree, main reason why i bought amnesiac

  • anyone know which instrument the woman is playing here?

it looks like an organ at first, but shes moving a string it looks like

  • I think it's called an ondes Martenot, sort of a cross between an electric piano, slide guitar and therumin.. Jonny Greenword has kinda repopularised it recently, particularly with this song.

  • It's also used well of Muse's latest album.

  • thanks!

  • ondes martenot

  • It tricks you into thinking it's a sloppy 11/8 at the beginning (2+2+3+2+2) but it's actually starting with dotted quarters where the 2s are, and a half note on the 3. It's a swung 8/4. Beats are 1, & of 2, 4, 6, & of 7, repeat. All &s are the 3 partial of a triplet, not the duple perfectly dividing the beat in non-swung music. You might call the &'s either "ah" or "let" if you subdivide 3s as '1-&-ah' or '1-trip-let.' [ ] indicates a chord played [1]-&-2-[&]-3-&-[4]-&-5-&-[6]-&-[7]-&-8-&.

  • It's in 4/4, abolutely, just check the official piano sheets, and it will make more sense

  • Awesome thanks

  • thank you metric, that helped me very much!

  • Every album of theirs is amazing... too hard to pick a favorite, it really depends what kind of mood I'm in to decide what album to listen to

  • Hail to the thief is the best album. But all the albums are amazing.

  • the way he subdivides sixteen is fucking awesome...

  • can you explain this concept? I've been trying to figure this songs time signature for a while

  • he seems to ben at lost lol haha

  • So awesome.

Amnesiac is underrated. You and Whose Army, Life in a Glasshouse, I Might Be Wrong, Packt, and Pulk/Pull are all brilliant. I probably prefer it to Kid A.

  • Brilliant songs, but Kid A is such a cohesive album that it's hard to say Amnesiac is better, because -- despite the great songs you mentioned -- it has no sense of cohesion.

  • The cohesion issue doesn't really bother me because when i'm listening to RH, I don't listen to specific albums at once - they're just on shuffle. I guess if you just want to sit back and listen to the album as a whole, it could be a bit jarring though.

  • RH lol

  • Me too! Especially You & Whose Army, one of the best Rh songs in my opinion.

  • genius. just an incredible piece of art

  • grill cosby

  • It is a beautiful song. And congrats on knowing your sexual tendencies.

  • im a heterosexual 20 year old male in college and im in no way, shape or form depressed. for some reason, this song gets me teary-eyed every single time. this band's music is so fucking powerful

  • So you're insinuating homosexual males and females are more easily moved than heterosexual males?

  • lol, why would being heterosexual affect whether you like it or not?

  • I feel you man, same here...their music is so powerful, so overwhelming i get goosebumps all over.

  • goosebumps all over, every time. epic.

  • Always arguing, its an opinion that its reflective on the music you listen to. Check out Violent Femmes first album (non live)

  • Every song, it means what it means to the one who listens to it. For me it means something, but the song speaks for itself, every song does that...

  • after hearing this song im sure they had studied metaphysics...

expresan en esta canción la fenomenología onírica...

  • c´mon people, you should be talking about the metaphysical meaning of this song, nor about the spiritual needs of anyone.

    cheers...

  • what the hell are you talking about?

    de qué leches hablas

  • Best version I've heard on Youtube so far.

  • Oh god what's all this metaphysical talk? I think Radiohead fans have officially lost their minds.

Anyway, back to reality. I find this song to have a very aquatic feel to it, much along the lines of Björk's Oceania. Both songs fit well with their respective official videos.

  • This song is everything i imagine...

  • God isn't real.

    Radiohead is real.

    Music is real.

    This are my beliefs.

  • thanks for that, it'd really improved my viewing pleasure of this video, and generally brightened my day, as i'm sure it has the rest of the people who read it.

  • .....and I agree with all the three. :)

  • Radiohead = God, Jesus, Joseph, and even Mary.

  • God is something that is not measurable or deductible is something more than human, that's why exists things that we can not explain because that is the soul's territory, we must follow to our truth.. and we don't always be on the right thing, other people may think that our bad actions are good for them and vice versa... hope that this can help ya...

  • So you're saing you dont believe he existed at all because there's not enough evidence. Yet then you say you know all these things about him like how he invented the concept of hell. You seem very undereducated my friend. Someday you might realize the true significance of the life of Jesus, and why he let himself be tortured and killed in a horrific but highly memorable event. You obviously are not even close to being able to understand the lessons of Christ.

  • Geez - these stories arent even true. Grow up bro. Read up on how the bible was made please.

  • Has anybody noticed the very deep mystical meanings of radiohead´s songs?

For sure that´s why their lyrics are difficult to understand for the majority of people.

they´ve played with more than old books...

  • All this talk about God has got me wanting to listen to Radiohead.

  • all this talk about god makes me want to claw my eyes out. i hate reading 99% of youtube comments.

    just watch the video!

  • Touche.

  • ps this song is awesome

2:10 is one of my favorite moments in modern music

  • Shut up everyone.

    This song is amazing.

  • in radiohead i trust.

  • Please shut the fuck up about our sky daddy, and listen.

  • Beautiful! Brilliant! This is by far my favorite song on Amnesiac written & layered to perfection, by the boys themselves! I went many years, loving Creep, but not getting into, or checking any further into Radiohead. Now, I can think of little that brings me joy like getting in my car, cranking Radiohead on the stereo & belting out Thom's beautiful, melodic vocals! I actually learned more about myself, vocally, from Mr. York the past few years, than all my years singing Beatles tunes combined!

  • Only a genious can make songs like this

    Thom is truly one

  • Radiohead is my religion. Inspiration has throughout time been associated with spirituality, and these Gods inspire me and elevate me to a place unheard of. It is undescribable, really. They give meaning to life.

  • Radiohead is above religion. Religion is just for sheeps :) Try to understand radiohead, not just listen !

  • Yes! Omg, I love you for what you said in your comment, I agree with every single word.

  • Hey, I love Radiohead to, but even they were created in the image of a much more brilliant & passionate God! I actually thought about this yesterday, while listening to this very song in my car. If we were created in the image of God, to create masterpieces like this ourselves, then how much more brilliant & awesome is our Creator, than we? Unfathomable!!!! Just look at nature itself, I've yet to see an artist who could create something so magnificent. We mimic God, he doesn't mimic us!

    peace

  • and what if there is simply no God, and theres just a band that does things that other human beings listen with their hears and like? sounds more logical to me.

  • and what if there is a spiritual being whos very conception is incomprehensible to us, just as physics is incomprehensible to a dog? What if we are neither created in its image nor is it in any way connected to us other than consciousness and therefore existence? but then again something doesn't have to be conscious to exist; is a rock self aware? Therefore, is this spiritual being even aware of us or even itself?

  • What if there is a magical pink unicorn sitting beside me watching as I type right now?

What if I jump out my window and fly instead of fall to the ground?

What if, what if, what if?

  • But by your reasoning God would at the same time be responsible for AIDS, child mortality and kanye fucking west.

  • I can deal with the first two.

  • I've got one question!

    The holocaust and slavery???

    some nice god huh?

  • ever thought about counting ur blessings ?

  • what purpose does questioning the event serve? you are responsible not god

  • That's a very deep connection you made there Miloseb. Oh wait, God isn't QUITE that simple.

  • Fuck Jesus!

  • Even most sensible atheists agree that Jesus was a great man with extemely noble intentions. You saying "Fuck Jesus!" is a clear sign of your remarkable ignorance.

  • "I come not to bring peace, I bring the sword!"

    Hmm...

Which "great man" said that again?

You must have a truely disturbing moral code if he is your role model.

  • Wow that quote was entirely and utterly false my idiot friend. Please do not turn the life of a great man into one of mockery, because it is highly undeserved.

  • "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

    - Jesus Christ

    You're right, "utterly false".

Please stop. You Christians do nothing but embarass yourselves with pseudo-intellectual rhetoric and shockingly fictional claims.

    It's quite pathetic.

  • Well you can live your life in hate if you want. My life is one full of love and passion. Maybe Jesus said that and maybe he didn't. If he did say it, he most certainly meant it. And that quote is the last one I would ever use totry to burn a Christian. You can call me unintellectual, but you still have never met me. And never will. So all I an do is say goodbye, and good luck.

  • Hahahaha!

    I don't care.

    I'm not ignorant.

  • remember in paranoid android when thom says "when i am king", well thom is king.

  • Brilliant, Classic, Genius

  • Much more than that.

  • It actually reminds me of The Mahavishnu Orchestra because of the odd rhythm and scale.

  • Thanks God for this song.

  • wow holy shit.

this is better than the studio version.

    it gives me chills.

  • Radiohead, a Gem to come across, and a real inspiration.

    Love all things Radiohead <3

  • Why do I really like this song on the second listen? (other than the fact that Im high... actually, I took a hit after I decided I liked it, so never mind)

I need to listen to more music where I have to pay attention to catch it...

Radiohead always nails that aspect. Is there anyother band like them!? No really, are there any suggestions? I have failed the search xD

  • There actually is no other band like Radiohead.

They are the best my friend.

  • listen to the album walls, by apparat.

Not the same thing, but some song do sound a little bit similar.

  • this song, despite being amazing while sober, is AMAZING while high

  • or rather, in addition to

  • amazing after a breakup :OO

  • stop drug idiot

  • you know how i know you aren't high?

because you just said you were high on the internet

  • That's funny. The other day a friend of mine was taking a hit in the car, and he asked me if I wanted one, and I said no. Then this song came on, and I had to take one. Beauty like this is of another world; not for us earthly beings to grasp

  • indeed

  • thank you Radiohead

  • the keyboard is an ondes martenot

  • Amazing!

  • He doesen't say from how high he jumped into the river.

  • Sublime!!!

What's the keyboard/string section called? It doesn't look like a normal keyboard or something. :)

  • i think this would be ultimate Swan song, there was nothing like this in R'n'R history.

It's #1 song that i'd like to listen right before i die.

  • I wish I could give 7 stars to this!

  • I would give it more then 7 stars if i could

  • Ok what about billion stars?

  • te awes. fav radiohead song for me!

  • better than the BEATLES! and I love the BEATLES!

  • There is a shit ton of similarities, considering every album they do is different from the first one, and they are pioneering the music industry in both the music and the business.

  • man every song makes me feel like im in outer space looking at my body back on earth .........floatingggggggggg

  • It's a 4/4 end of the story !

  • the words are brilliant, but feels like an unfinished story.. wish they had come up with what happened after 'there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt".. either he wakes up and was dreaming or he finds there was something to fear and something to doubt.. feel like i'm left hanging when they just repeat the same verse over and over again..

  • I feel humiliated by your razor sharp response.

  • teapot is kinda right. It's not supposed to be a story. Its Radiohead ffs, not Journey.

  • "And we all went to Heaven in a little row boat."

  • the climax. the climax! .goosepimples.

  • one of my favourite songs of Radiohead...

    thanks

  • definitely 4/4

  • it is a doublebass.

    a cello is much smaller.

  • Ed O' Brien is underrated. He's awesome.

  • what a yoghurt

  • I agree with UomoBello....that's definitely a freakin' bass!

  • It's a bass, retards

  • I played this dvd at my grandma's house she was blown away lol even her church lady friends where just in shocked Jesus over radiohead they call them angelic mystical sounds..they almost took my dvd lol i made them copies for free lol in my opinion there no better living band at the moment man.radiohead is just amazing!!!

  • is that Colin playing the cello?.....damn hes a badass!

  • that's a bass my friend.

  • No its a cello my friend...

  • its a bass

    for orchestra

  • No its a fucking cello, its the same principle ye fuckin spoon

  • bass,cello whatever....the man is a badass

  • its in 4/4, it just has a bunch of dotted and tied quarter notes so it makes it complicated and hard to count.

  • WHAT?

no fecking way is that 4/4

  • I think it might be 7/4, but my music-reading expertise is rather flawed.

  • it definitely is in 4/4. listen to the drums.

  • he recorded song features piano chords in an unusual rhythmic pattern similar to that of a slow three-two clave rhythm. e.g. if one counts 3-3-4-3-3 3-3-4-3-3 as an additive rhythm , each time you say the number one, it will be on the same beats as the piano phrases. There has been great debate about the correct time signature that describes the pattern. Some people have claimed that the song is in an odd measure, or mixed measure - for example 16/8 (3+3+4+3+3) or swung 11/8.

  • The song is usually notated in 4/4 common time, however it is not always easy for the uninformed listener to decipher this time signature due to syncopation complexities

to just say its 4/4/ is pretty lame, yes you can dumbly count 4 over anything but that is not a stright 4/4..i copied the explanation from wikipedia..

  • said wikipedia
