my fiancee and i have a maine coon kitten that looks exactly like happy.. his name is maximus and he already loves bags.. sleeps just like him.. however sounds like a motorboat when he purrs. now we have a glimpse into his size for the future..
Unless one knows who the parents are, there is no way of knowing if Happy is a MC or even a mix. That is, unless you're interested in DNA testing ? Own nephew has an Australian Shepard and later went the DNA route, turns out his dog is not 100% but the couple other "breeds" took him down to the low 90's, %.
Does he show affinity for water? Seems to be a Strong MC trait ? Anything to do with it became a great pastime for the 3 was fortunate to live with, including water bowls % fountain !
awwww happy looks just like my kitten, Paws. shes 1 now and her bday is on june 21 just like my brother so its easy to keep track of. i got Paws in september for my 10th bday when paws was only 3 months old. she is a coon cat too and she is the most adorable thing EVER!!!! you can see her on my channel. just type sweetsunny4
Wow, he looks exactly like my new kitten I got from the shelter, except my kitty has a soul patch and all his toes are white. He's floofier than all of the other kitties, so I hope he grows to be as floofie and cute as Happy! I'll post some video once I bring him home to show you, it's really surprising to see how similar they are!! :)
Awwww I absolutely loved your video. :) It was really cute!!! My cat, Ramona, was a Maine Coon mix and she had the pooffffiest fur!!! Even inbetween her toes, just like Happy!! :) Thank you for sharing this video...even though Ramona has been gone for 2 years now, your video reminded me of some of her traits & habits and it made me happy aha. :)
What an adorable kitty! I got my cat Wolfie (Wolfgang Amadeus Meowzart) from a shelter. He is 1/2 Maine Coon and 1/2 Tabby. He's so big, but not full coon sized. His little mew is so funny for his size!
What an adorable kitty! I got my cat Wolfie (Wolfgang Amadeus Meowzart) from a shelter. He is 1/2 Maine Coon and 1/2 Tabby. He's so big, but not full coon sized. His little mew is so funny for his size!
Omigosh!!! He looks like my Garfield!!! The only difference is Garfie's toes didn't get fluffy and his mouth was white! Based on what I've been learning, I think he was a Maine Coon too. He was given to me, I miss my big ole baby so! Thanks for sharing, I didn't get any video of him before he died. *sigh*
I have a Miane Coon, Big Papi, who has the exact same coloring. At his biggest BP was 19.5 pounds. He's 14 yrs old so he's not as heavy. You made a good choice. These cats are awesome. Overall they are peaceful, loyal, and playful. They love to be warm, and are usually willing to lay with you. I have had experience with more than just my Maine Coon, so I'm not basing my thoughts on one cat. Just wait until he's a full grown adult shedding in the early Spring. Get the vaccuum ready...
Yea, see his ears. Maine Coon (I had one) have a sharp tip point ears with fur that comes up to make them look more like a wild mountain cat. An Angora as a rounded ear tip and their fur is kinky. I think he's Angora.
Omg happy looks excatly like my girl cat Zoe! even down to where the left front paw has only alittle bit of white on it. we say that she ran out of paint when she painted her paws white lol beautiful cat!
ps. we also got my cat zoe from our animal shelter she is now 6years old and a goof ball! :D
it's funny how we all consider our animals to be siblings and even our kids lol! even if they aren't even the same kind of animal! Happy indeed looks like he's living up to his name thanks to his loving owner!
he grew up to be a beauty:) i had a black and white cat for 13 years or so.. i had to put him down because he had skin cancer which later turned into a fat tumer on his face:`( i miss him he was my childhood cat:(
God bless you and your fur family. I lost my Maine Coon about 18 months ago -- think about her every day. Thanks for sharing this. It just about made me cry. You two must both be blessed.
I've got a rescue tuxedo Maine Coon too. I have never met a more loving creature. Mini Lynn was less then a pound when I got him. Shelter had him listed as a female at 6 weeks old. At the follow up vet check we figured it out but kept the name as it's really traditionally male anyway and we thought it would be really cute to have a large cat named Mini... I'm so lucky he was there for me the day I went. Don't you love the grand whiskers?
Hello my dear commenters! I'm Happy to report that Happy is still Very Happy, as rescue pets should be, as of Oct. 2010.
Happy is the most uncoordinated cat I've ever lived with (and I've lived with LOTS of rescue cats over the years.) He is NOT allowed outdoors, ever... he falls off every piece of FURniture in the house, and shows virtually NO desire to go anywhere outside, ever. This suits me just fine!
He is well and, well, Happy, as of Oct. 2010, in case anyone has been wondering.
I have a Tuxedo cat just like this, though a tad less pouffy. I do have a Maine Coon though, too, and a Russian Blue...a Persian mix and another one that's just a mutt of a cat, but a super sweetheart! Rescue animals make the best fur-babies!
Awwww....a video only a true animal lover could make. Happy is a beautiful kitty and looks like a sweetheart. May you and he enjoy many healthy, happy years together. We have a cat named Willis who loves to be around people all the time but almost never wants to be held or sit in your lap. Sounds like your description of your kitty.
Good for you and your house full of love! All of those angels around you. I was given a little ugly runt of a Maine Coon and he got huge like yours did and grew up to be a beautiful cat. He can be a pain in the butt but I love him. Cats 101 has a great series about all of these breeds. They claim that the Coons have a marking on their forehead that resembles a big "M" which "stands" for Maine Coon. It doesn't really make any difference though. They are our wonderful little "aliens"!
Happy is such a lovely boy! Actually, after having cats all my life & making it my biz to study them intently (behaviourly, of course), & as a vet assistant, i'd hazard to say that he's more an Angora mix than a Maine Coon. A nice bunch of fur-children you have there, elsbett! :)
@scruffylittlecat Oh, an Angora! I was thinking more Siberian. He just doesn't have the Maine Coon body type, I think now. It doesn't really matter, but I think it's fun to research my mixy pets. Happy is HUGE now! A beautiful, lovey guy, always very calm.
your MC looks identical to mine though mine is only 7 months old now. i hope he gets the pouffy paws like yours. he already so big at his age. i could send you some pics if you want.
SO cute.I have 2 Maine Coons(both came from shelters as kittens) one is a 14 months the other 3 months. They are sooo much fun. Love your sweet puppies too, they all look so happy and content. Bless you!
adopting an animal from an animal shelter is so rewarding- beautiful video! always nice to see, i dont think i could live without cats! or animals in general!:P x
Darn, what was I saying? YouTube hasn't posted my previous comment! At any rate, Happy has the rounded (NOT rectangular) body type, and small ears of the Siberian cat. He also never "chirps," as Maine Coons are known to do, but meows Very, Very, Quietly. He also purrs very quietly.
I'd post more vids of Hapster Snuggle-Fluff, but my camera is broken, and my back-up camera is, well, horrid!
Thank you for all of your kind comments: Happy is waving back to you, all Happy!
WOW.....there is a special place in heaven waiting for you. Poor little kitty grew to a gorgeous happy proud magnificent cat, all because of YOU! May you live in happiness for a hundred years!
Oh what a beautiful kitten! He looks so much like my Angora cat, Bug - the color, the silkiness, the incredibly poufy toes, and the little voice. We had him from a tiny kitten of about 2 weeks until he was 17. He was a wonderful cat.
Rosie looks EXACTLY like my cat George (14 now but looks the same as when he was 3). I also got him from an animal shelter, and I too am convinced he's Maine Coone. No kidding - the two of them could be litter mates, right down to the "fluffy feet"! She's beautiful, lucky you - enjoy such a great companion! Thanks for sharing!

Those puffy toes really are amazing, and from what little I know, don't know of any other breed that has those. I also have a Maine coon rescue cat, so I've done a lot of research on the breed. And, "wants to be around, not a lap cat" and "quiet voice" fits the description as well!
Yes, I've read that Maine coons can get quite huge- but, also that they retain their "kittenish personalities", which I think is a totally charming aspect.
I know nothing of medium/long-haired cats, since Happy is my first. So Persians, etc. lack those Pouffy Toes, eh? Cripes, I think those "fur spurs" are just adorable!
I'm loving this "gentle giant," as they say. I could not have picked a better cat from Animal Control!

He probably has some Maine Coon in him. The furry paws are a give-away. But they usually have a bigger ruff.
If he 'squeaks' instead of meows, and he butts heads, then he's probably mostly a coon cat.
Also, they get furrier in cold climates. He's probably at least part coon cat.
