when i have kids im seriously only letting them watch dvd's from the 80's and early 90's before they can make their own decisions. gummi bears, fraggle rock, pirates of dark water, scooby doo (and 13 ghosts), rescue rangers, duck tales, talespin, darkwing duck, the snorks, pound puppies, wacky races, space race, pete and pete, salute your shorts, hey dude, smurfs, the list is endless. My kids will thank me later in life when they know how to survive after the zombie apocalypse. you guys wont!!!

When he noticed me rolling my eyes while being forced to watch one of his current favourite cartoons he challenged me to find a better one. I showed him some old intros on YouTube and he was hooked, so now I'm buying as many 80s/90s shows as I can get on DVD: PoDW, Swat Kats, Biker Mice from Mars, X-Men, Spiderman, Gargoyles, Digimon, Transformers/Beast Wars, War Planets Shadow Raiders, etc :)

Guys, friends ... I recall watching this when I was a very young kid (was born in 88). This was on just long enough for me to have a memory of it. I had actually forgotten about this series completely, but I used to watch it religiously! I was browsing Wikipedia, and somehow came across the title "Pirates of Dark Water". It was like a little light bulp turned on in my head; I just suddenly snapped to attention, and I was like, "Hey, that sounds familiar!" And here I am, and I'm glad of it!

@avengedguy OH MAN! A live action movie inspired by this cartoon, directed by Peter Jackson in the style of LOTR would be the best thing ever. They have to do it in my lifetime. I can already hear the soundtrack remastered into an epic tune.

Mayeth thy words foretell the future!!!! I really loved it to....I'm a upcoming animator and I hate remakes ...but this would be worth it! wish me luck for the next 20 years :P maybe I'll make your wish come true.

Damn they don't make em like this anymore. I hear it was nixed because there wasn't enough money in the budget. Hanna Barbera has the money, they would be smart to bring it back.

I remember watching this for the first time and I was hooked at the opening credits. Just watching this you knew that you were in for greatness. Shame that it never was completed.

I use to love watching this show when I was a kid. David the Gnome, Grimm's Fairy Tales, Gargoyles, Ronin Warriors, Teknoman, Batman TAS etc. Shows need to challenge kids creativity and enlighten their minds. Watching sponge bob all day is going to make a kid stupid and turn their brains into garbage.

In an alternate universe, The Pirates of Dark Water continued on several seasons until the epic finale where Ren defeated Captain Bloth and freed all of Mer from the grip of the Dark Water, and soon afterwards assumed the throne of an Octopon being rebuilt and revitalized, morale bolstered by the prince's unexpected victory over the forces of evil in a shocking two-part episode.

I had actually forgotten about this series completely, but I used to watch it religiously! I was browsing Wikipedia, and somehow came across the title "Pirates of Dark Water". It was like a little light bulp turned on in my head; I just suddenly snapped to attention, and I was like, "Hey, that sounds familiar!" And here I am, and I'm glad of it!

@bl4cKnWhit3 with Zac Efron honestly the guy looks like ren just with darker hair and lighter skin I thought two years ago why not doing a pirate movie with Zac Efron playing Ren's rol he would be perfect phisically but in the role he needs to be more agressive than he is in the musicals lol!

This cartoon holds so much importance to me. I used to watch this everyday when I was 3-4 with my dad. I wish i could go back to that time. this show will always remind me of simpler times

@IHereVoices the villain is not white, just pale while the rest, being in the sun and sea for too long,are just tanned. They should have done it in black and white or just colourless, perhaps then, it would have gone beyond 25 episodes.....

-Blue Resistance lost to the dusty apathy of the colourless desert Warfare.....colourful defeated by colourless. " Pirates of Dark waters"....Dark is a colour too and here, it equates to piracy and evil.
