Any highly advanced extraterrestrial civilization capable of deep interstellar space travel would already be self sustaining by getting their resources from any of the infinite uninhabited terrestrial bodies in our galaxy.
For our very survival as a species, Humanity has to suspect all extraterrestrial contact as being of a malevolent nature. To first assume benevolent contact, would be foolhardy.
