Nope some people still react in a negative manner. I have even had people say it hurts their ears or sends chills down their spine like fingernails on a chalk board.
Haha, I must admit one can liken the piercing notes to the effect of nails on chalkboard, sure, but I counter that the chills can be perceived as a pleasant experience. I like it.
When I do Xorekteer I get that chest resonance now, in itself a real stimulating sensation, so... it's a matter of taste. I for one, am not a fan of twangy country music. I find THAT screechy.
It took me a year of experimenting (and driving my wife crazy) to figure it out. I watched a bunch of overtone videos, and found several tutorials online. However, because everyone's vocal tract is different, what works for one person wont always work for someone else. Just search for tutorials and experiment with what they tell you to try.
I've been learning for 4 months. I am advancing fast, maybe too fast. But I suppose if you have vocal training you'd have a head start. I am totally self-taught from tutorials and fan-club web sites. And lots of practicing. Hours EVERY STINKING DAY! Much more intensive than piano lessons.
Holy shit! That was COOL! (especially considering that the only other place Ive ever heard that kind of singing is recordings of buhddist monks....) And I love that song so....AWESOME! Thanks for sharing!
Way to give the Tuvans their credit. Great reference to your inspiration in doing this melody. I found my own ability to do this a week ago. Keep it up, u sound great!
Thanks, Pierre. Some people just want me to sing and hate that I talk before I sing in my videos. It's nice that someone appreciates what I have to say, too.
Listened to your video. Sounds like you are well on your way. It just takes practice to build up your control and you'll be singing melodies in no time.
I always wanted to see Azrael just pounce on one of those Smurfs and chomp into them in a furious bloody feast while Gargamel cackled away in glee. (Just not Smurfette, she was the only chick, can't spare her.)
Dude, you have cats. You know they play with their food. Azrael would have tossed a Smurf around, batted it, carried it around, shook it, and only after quite a bit of play, killed it and devoured it.
That's so awesome! Nice job!

Pretty depressing that society is not ready to experience this level of music.

Perhaps one day my overtone singing will be this good - and people will stop running away and holding their ears when I do it. lol

Holy shit, how did you learn how to do that? I'm an opera singer and very interested in overtone singing.
