  • ava, the new cassie and marina should have never been constantly on the front burner, if the show shrunk the cast to the characters that we wanted coupled with better writing, perhaps the gl would still be on

  • Ross is on trial because Alan framed him on a drug charge after he lost Trish Lewis to him.

  • What was Ross on trial for? Did Ross have any major stories during the time Long was writing? From the history I've read it seems like he was sort of in the wilderness from the time Amanda left to the late 80s, aside from being involved with Calla Matthews.

  • The only major storylines I can remember involving Ross from the mid-to-late 80s was the big reveal that he and Vanessa were Dinah's parents. However, he was on every day, practically, becasue he was everyone's lawyer. Ross's story did not really heat up until he hooked up with Blake(1992-93)...even his love story with Holly was lackluster...

  • most writers have their own vision for the series and a lot of them admit that they purposely write off characters that they're not familiar with or ones they can't write for...also, some writers like to create characters and that causes familiar characters to fade into the background. I'd even seen comments from writers saying how much they can't stand such and such character and they write or kill them off.

  • I imagined many times, killing off the character of Marina...or maybe it was just the actress that played her.

  • Amazing how Pam Long continued to write for Floyd Parker (sort of...) But, all but wrote out Katie Parker, a far more interesting character...in my opinion.

  • and 1 year later, Floyd was in prison...for murder

  • who did he kill?

  • Long story short, Floyd killed Andy Ferris...Phillip had hired Andy to blow up Floyd and Lujack's bar, which resulted in Beth's blindness. In the middle of a party at the Spaulding manse, the lights went out, a shot rang out and when the lights came back on, Andy was dead. Floyd confessed a few months later and kidnapped India. Totally out of charachter for Floyd to be a murderer. Then he was never mentioned again...

  • Thanks! I watched GL since the late 70's, but have forgotten so much of it. Now that its no longer on the air I'm having fun catching up on the old story lines. This one wasnt familiar to me, but now I remember beths blindness. Thanks again!

  • Yeah, I think that she was blind for a few months...Lujack was actually found guilty of Andy's murder before Floyd confessed (what a friend!) and spent a few months in prison (with Bradley Raines)...I started watching GL in late 1979 when Roger Thorpe ruled the show...I was like 11 years old (I'm a guy, too, which disturbed my mother)...

  • My mom watched the show when I was young, so I remember it from even the late 60's. But I was only 9 or 10, so that era is mostly a blank. Though I do vaguely remember the Ed/Leslie storyline. I really started getting into it during the Ed/Roger/Holly/Rita era also. Due to having to work I missed much of the Annie story lines, so I am having fun going back through those. For me the best story ever was Jonathan/Tammy.

  • when Annie faked her fall down the stairs, that was when I started getting back into GL...great storyline, great actress! The Jonathan/Tammy matchup always gave me the heebie-jeebies becasue of their relation to each oher...kept hoping that they would reveal that Cassie and Reva were not sisters...Josh/Cassie gave me the chills also...too close for comfort!

  • I felt the same way about josh/cassie, but I think that had more to do with me HATING the recast for cassie. I just could not stand that actress.
