People seem to be mixed up about Jesus' second coming, well...let this help us understand..Jesus did not make a second coming. what happened was the apostles LORD-GOD made a second appearing for their bodily change upon seeing him in the air, which they were to be caught up in , to be with him, "there" NOT with him on the physical earth. Their LORD-GOD (Jesus) had made his first century "appearing" at the end of the age (covenant) just as he had appeared in the beginning of the Mosaic covenant.
Also, when the bible mentions the last days, and END ...it's always referring to the END of the very covenant Jesus had slain on the cross. the old Mosaic covenant. They all knew they were living in the last days of that covenant and waited for the visible sign to the world it was coming to its END with the Collapse of that covenants' Temple and Prissthood. Jesus being both NOW the permanent Temple not made with hands and as eternal Priest of GOD after Order of Melchesidec NOT order of Jews.
i'm fairly new with the discovery of Preterism...and I just want to comment on what I believe Jesus meant when he said ...Go and make disciples of all nations"" . I believe in context he was saying they should not be limiitting the Gospel of (bad news - for that is what the future held - with War coming ; "the wrath of God") to just the ears of Hebrews, but should be preached to "every National" as in every one who is of other national origins. Not litterally to go to every nation under the sun
Sure, I can say blind. If you'll look ahead that's the one leading you. You know, if the blind lead the blind both fall into the ditch! You must have swallowed the futurist science fiction story for so long you can't see the proper context of the 'last days' and 'the end' of the Old Covenant age. Preterism will get ya out of that ditch.
wow all things ? can you say blind, i see you got alot of Bible all mixed up there ...not much time left now for you to get that mess cleaned up woe , woe , woe unto thee...there shall be weeping and Ghashing of teeth, repent, while it is yet day ! your pride has blinded you, pride comes before the fall , wake up your teaching lies, the beam in your eyes, remove it if you can, your Lamp is empty, without oil , your wick is burned up ! repent and give Jesus Christ the Glory !
Imagine being so simple minded you believe that an ancient Roman execution would result in a zombie demi-god that, like Osiris , keep an the ancient, paranoid God of an obscure tribe in the Mideast from taking his anger out on the human race because we are not the way this ancient Middle Eastern god things we should be like. God, to the Christians, is a senile delinquent, who, like an old man in a nursing home, makes a puzzle and becomes angry when all the pieces don't fit together.
The context of Isaiah 13 is stated specifically in verse 1 (e.g. WHAT HE SAW) and generally in II Peter 1:20-21. Isaiah WAS NOT speaking of prophetic events as would a modern day psychic, whose prose would be in the 1st-person point of view. He was only a passive narrator of what GOD REVEALED.
According to II Peter, prophecy is written from the 3rd-person objective. Therefore any assertion that passages (e.g. "sun and moon darkened") are cultural/poetic narratives is biblically inconsistent.
@fractalbeliever You are still missing the context of Isaiah's prophecy. Yes, Is.13:1 IS describing "what he saw." He saw the destruction of Babylon at the hands of the Medes (v. 17), and the time of the destruction was NEAR (vv. 6& 22)! So, since that's the focus of the entire passage, the language is clearly figurative. Did "every human heart" literally "melt" in Babylon (v. 7)? No! Again: figurative, hyperbolic language!
@coper11 In Isaiah 13, GOD is speaking, Isaiah is writing. So if I understand you correctly, God (and HIS SON) are predisposed to gross exaggeration, and making prophetic statements that they have NO intention of fulfilling. Right?
Also, your comparison of verse 7 has no logical legs (e.g. the word "melt" reduces an entire passage of scripture into "hyperbolic language"?). Tails didn't wag dogs in Isaiah's time, and they still don't today. Either way, it has no probabitve value for verse 10.
@fractalbeliever Once you understand Is. 13 you can apply that understanding to Mt. 24:29 and see that Jesus was speaking of the destruction of another nation: Old Covenant Israel! Also, the Revelation speaks of "the great city that symbolically is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified" (11:8), and "Mystery Babylon" (17:5), both of which refer to first century Jerusalem!
Paul said in Colossians 1:5,6 that the gospel had already gone to all the world and in v. 23 he said it had been preached to every creature under heaven. Jesus was speaking directly to his disciples in Mt. 24:14 when He told them the gospel must go out to all the world before the end could come. When we understand "the end" to be the end of the Old Covenant age we begin to understand what Jesus and Paul had in mind. AD 70 is your answer! Great Job William. I love you show on AD70.net!
"The sun & moon darkened" in Mt. 24 should be read in the same context as Isaiah 13. In Isaiah 13, the prophet is predicting the end of the Babylonian empire at the hands of the Medes (v. 17). Notice v. 10 and the references to the sun, moon and stars. This is clearly judgment language describing the fall of Babylon! Jesus predicts the fall of Jerusalem in very similar language in Mt. 24. Put your 1st century thinking cap on and you'll see it too!
@coper11 Your unsupported assumption about Isaiah 13:10 is that when Babylon fell to the Medo-Persian Empire, that the prophecy concerning the constellations "not showing their light" and the "sun and moon darkened" didn't actually happen. Without proof of this, you like (W. Bell) are posing a circular argument.
Also, the context of Ch. 13 appears to switch between Babylon's fall and the Day of The Lord's judgement on the "world" (in verse 11) which (in those days) included more than Babylon.
@fractalbeliever You are not understanding the nature of prophetic, apocalyptic language. By removing this verse from it's context and refusing to allow it to say what Isaiah intended, you end up denying Scripture. This was figurative language used to describe the wrath of God poured out on the nation of Babylon. Mt. 24 is God's wrath poured out on the nation of Israel for her adulterous sin. So, contrary to your assertion, there is no "switch" in Is. 13 at all and it was in fact fulfilled!
@coper11 You (and W. Bell) are certainly entitled to your beliefs. But neither of you have offered conclusive PROOF of your point of view--only circular reasoning. You start out with the premise that all has been fullfilled in Christ (circa 70 AD) and next (presenting no evidence) you relegate every verse of prophetic scripture (that doesn't support that perspective) to non-literal "prophetic language". Logicians and mathematicians refer to it as a tautology--a "self-fulfilling" argument.
@fractalbeliever You certainly have me on the edge of my seat awaiting your learned interpretation of Isaiah 13! You accuse me of circular reasoning yet you are the one who imagines what "appears" to be a "switch" in this prophecy. You have shown a willingness to tell me what it doesn't mean, and that I've offered no proof. So, what is the proper way to view Isaiah 13 contextually?
The method we are employing in our interpretation is called "the analogy of Scripture." It's very consistent.
Your cross-referencing of Christ's words-"This gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world"--with statements made by the apostles would be substantial if not for one point: Jesus Christ (if you believe he was fully God and man) KNEW that the "whole world" included tribes, cultures, and nations UNKNOWN to the the apostles.
Moreover, the apostles' statements that you reference were NOT spoken in an end-times prohetic context, and thus offer no probative value regarding prophecy.
You're clearly taking Matthew 24:34 (and Christ's words) out the context framed by verses 29 through verse 33. The "this generation" Christ is referring to are those who actually SEE the events (e.g. sun & moon darkened, Son of Man coming in the clouds, all tribes on earth to mourn, etc.) No such events have been documented by 1st century bible chroniclers.
Your unsupported assumption is that the tribulation ended in the 70's AD with Titus' siege and destruction of Jerusalem. See Rev. 6.
Humorous indeed! You know, Hal Lindsey, Harold Camping and Edgar Whisenant all believed it was going to happen in the 21st century. Others before them believed it would happen in the 19th century. If you are old enough you were probably saying the same thing just over 10 years ago about Y2K. Now that that time is gone, you claim the 21st century. Look up "generation" in Matt. 12:38-40; 23:36, & tell me if you believe it to be the 21st century when Jesus died or destroyed Jerusalem?
We are living in the end times and witnessing all of the signs unfold in Matt 24. "Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to atone for your sins. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice because He lived a life without sin and died for you. He paid the price for our sins. It is a free gift of salvation that God offers to you. Will you accept it? I pray that you find truth in your life. Jesus is the only truth that anyone needs. God bless you as you seek after Him"
So what happened to all the souls that died b4 there was a bible, qua ran, torah, etc. Bef ore there was a concept of heaven and hell....where did they go?
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole WORLD as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
World = Oikoumene = Strong's Number: 3625
Basic Definition: the inhabited earth.
In Context: The inhabited earth of the 1st Century.
Our spiritual eyes definitely have to be opened to these hidden nuggets of truth... or as Jesus put it, His words are Spirit... the flesh counts for nothing.
The Greek word for "world" in the text of Col.1:6, of which Mr. Bell referenced is Kosmos (2889). It refers to the entire world and the sum total of people living in it. It is not Oikoumene (3625), which may also refer to a particular inhabited country, that is used in this case. So Mr. Bell is correct! This text alone is undeniable proof, from the bible itself, that the gospel had already gone throughout the world during the time of the apostles. That's what the bible says
I can see that you have an 'eye" problem. Read Ephesians 1:18, and you will note that your "hope" must be seen with the "eyes of understanding." Then read Hebrews 12:22-23, to see where the saints had come to Mt. Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, -wherein is the tree of life). And yes, it is well documented in the N.T. and in part by secular history. Christ did not come to save man from his humanity, but he did come to put away "the sin" under which Adam fell in Eden.
@AllThingsFulfilled Excellent, Pastor Bell! I have not met another who can explain the Holy Scriptures quite like you can. You have been blessed with a wonderful gift from God. Just about three (3) months ago, i relinquished this FUTURIST view, and I have much to thank God through you for that. I am now a PRETERIST! Keep up the GOOD works and may the GOOD LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU.
plus i would also like add.. lets just say this all did happen, what is our purpose now in these days? (please respond to the first comment i added before responding to this one.)
So if all this is fulfilled then where's the tree of life? where's Christ sitting in the temple of Jerusalem? why is Israel and the Palestine at war? Why is sin throughout the whole world? Where is God and the new Jerusalem that is suppose to be the capital of the world? If the whole bible has been fulfilled already then i think there would be historical documentation of all of this.. i mean this is a pretty big thing.. however i do agree with you about the rapture.
So if all this is fulfilled then where's the tree of life? where's Christ sitting in the temple of Jerusalem? why is Israel and the Palestine at war? Why is sin throughout the whole world? Please explain how Matthew 24:29-30 was fulfilled in the 1st century. Are there any historical records of this event? No! Compare with Matthew 16:27-28. What angels? Who was rewarded? None of this happened, and all the metaphorical spiritualizing does not detract from what should be plainly evident to any reasonable objective observer-Jesus was wrong, or,at the very least, misquoted. I was once a fundamentalist evangelical Christian. I finally woke up. So should you.
So, you are saying the gospel, in the 1st century, had been preached in all the world. You mean, to the Australian Aborigines?, the North American Indians? African tribes in the deep amazon jungles?
Give me a break! This is nonsense! The real truth is that jesus did not return as promised. There were no "angels", no sun being darkened or falling stars (which would be impossible since stars are massively larger than our earth). This is all a huge stretch to avoid the obvious-failed prophecy
No biblical informed christian will deny we are in the last days which began at the first coming of christ. However the last days has not ended for then the evil age of satan will have to be over and there is no longer sin in the world. We are in the last days but not the days after the end of the age. Its still to come and shall be redemption consummated.
Matt 24 refers to the tribulation, Matt 24:14 the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the tribulation, Paul preached the gospel of grace, people are ignorant, they fail to rightly divide the word.
Jesus is KING OF KINGS LORD OF LORDS ALPHA AN OMEGA the true living God.The God of Abraham Isaac an Jacob In the begging there was Jesus. There is no other God But Jesus Christ to him Igive all Praise and Glory to. Jesus is right at the door. The truth is if you dont accept Jesus Christ you going to Hell.
"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no nor ever shall be." Matt 24:21
If all these things have been fulfilled than I suppose the destruction of 6 million Jews during the holocaust was a small thing. and the persecution of the Jews in Russia and all nations were small.
THE TRIBULATION HAS NOT HAPPENED YET. All things have not been fulfilled yet.
Luke 21:24 They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
After the Diapora in 70AD, Jerusalem was trodden down by the Gentiles until 1967 when it was recaptured by Israel during the 6 day war. This indicates that the time of the Gentiles has been fulfilled. The Generation that sees the restoration of Jerusalem to the Jews will see the see the second coming.
ATF, we are not yet in the future eternity spoken of in the book of Revelation. For example the enemy has not been bound for 1000 years, and so forth. All things have not yet been fulfilled. Preterism is in-congruent with the current goings-on in the world. Please pray and research the scriptures. I hope you and others with this belief system will be transformed and clarified by the Word.
How could the scriptures be preached to "All the World" in the first century AD when the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and various other island nations had not yet been discovered?
Here's how: And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that "all the world" should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. (Luke 2:1,2). "World" in the text is translated from a term which means the inhabited earth, particularly the Roman empire. See Romans 10:18; Col. 2:5,6, 23; Rom. 16:26. Further Jesus promised it would happen before the first century generation passed, Matt. 24:34.
The Romans did not rule over the Americas, Aust, NZ, etc. These countries, and their inhabitants, weren't discovered until long after the 1st century AD, thus making it impossible for the Gospel to have been preached to ALL the world.
Jesus said that the Generation that sees the signs he talked about occur would not pass away. In other words all of these signs would occur within the last 70 years before His return. Israel (the Fig Tree) only reformed (put forth it leaves) in 1948 (or 1967)
preached to EVERY CREATURE WHICH IS UNDER HEAVEN, whereof I PAUL AM made a minister. I guess you believe Paul wasn't telling the truth, Christ said all would happen in that time, go preach the gospel throughout the whole world, NOW PAUL SAID IT'S BEEN DONE, Jeez
actually the Second Coming did take place since Christ said to them in Matthew 23 verse 35, that UPON YOU, what don't you understand? That was his vengeance
he spoke of his Second Coming, if you understood, then he says all these things, who do you think I will believe, you arew Christ, Ill take Christ words way before yours.
Paul would have believed that the Gospel had been preached to all the known world. But as we know, the entire world is much bigger than what they thought it was back in the 1st century.
The point is Paul and others were only commanded to preach to "all the world" in their time, not ours. It's impossible for them after they're deceased. Hence Peter says, they wrote that we would always have their words in remembrance, 2 Peter 1:12. See again in Luke 2:5, where a census was taken in "all the world" under Augustus Caesar. He was only concerned with "counting" the people of his day.
My grandmother had a saying. "The devil trusted the turkey, but it flew." Trust in a man is a curse (Jeremiah 17:5), if placed above God's word. If "generation" means race, then there were 42 different races in Jesus' genealogy as recorded in Matthew 1:1-17. So all the "races?" from Abraham to David were 14...from David to Babylonian captivity 14 "races" and from Babylon to Christ 14 races? 14 x 3 = 42. What other human genes do you know of that produces a new race each time a son is begotton?
When Jesus said "generation" he meant people in his day as well as the human race in whole. Matthew 24: 15-18 says that Jerusalem would be attacked and destroyed. Around 30 years after his death, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and 1100 years later, it was destroyed again in the crusades. The rest of the chapter is talking about the end of the world. Signs are still happening right now to fulfill this chapter. Jesus meant generation to mean his generation and the entire human race in whole.
If all things have been fulfilled as you say, then where is the mark of the beast spoken of in Revelation? Where is the man of perdition? When did Jesus descend from the clouds?
Matthew 24:30-34, Rev. 1:1-3, 7; 22:6-10. Do your research on the apocalyptic use of clouds in the Old Testament and you should have no problem understanding its use in the New Testament.
Mr Bell, William if I may. I hope you continue to make videos on youtube. There are many on here who say they are christians but are quick to condem. Love you message and hope to hear more.

"The sun & moon darkened" in Mt. 24 should be read in the same context as Isaiah 13. In Isaiah 13, the prophet is predicting the end of the Babylonian empire at the hands of the Medes (v. 17). @fractalbeliever You are not understanding the nature of prophetic, apocalyptic language. By removing this verse from it's context and refusing to allow it to say what Isaiah intended, you end up denying Scripture. Why else do you think that the Tower of Babel in the old testament wasn't completed? Where is the optimism? I don't see it.

20XMAN 3 years ago
No biblical informed christian will deny we are in the last days which began at the first coming of christ. However the last days has not ended for then the evil age of satan will have to be over and there is no longer sin in the world. We are in the last days but not the days after the end of the age. Its still to come and shall be redemption consummated.

Matt 24 refers to the tribulation, Matt 24:14 the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the tribulation, Paul preached the gospel of grace, people are ignorant, they fail to rightly divide the word.
GPAGraceTrain 3 years ago
Jesus and Paul did not preach the same gospel.

All things have not been fulfilled yet.
theofficenetmusician 3 years ago

How could the scriptures be preached to "All the World" in the first century AD when the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and various other island nations had not yet been discovered?
neuralecho 4 years ago
Here's how: And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that "all the world" should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. (Luke 2:1,2). "World" in the text is translated from a term which means the inhabited earth, particularly the Roman empire. See Romans 10:18; Col. 2:5,6, 23; Rom. 16:26. Further Jesus promised it would happen before the first century generation passed, Matt. 24:34.
AllThingsFulfilled 4 years ago
The Romans did not rule over the Americas, Aust, NZ, etc. These countries, and their inhabitants, weren't discovered until long after the 1st century AD, thus making it impossible for the Gospel to have been preached to ALL the world.
Jesus said that the Generation that sees the signs he talked about occur would not pass away. In other words all of these signs would occur within the last 70 years before His return. Israel (the Fig Tree) only reformed (put forth it leaves) in 1948 (or 1967)

Colossians 1-23
preached to EVERY CREATURE WHICH IS UNDER HEAVEN, whereof I PAUL AM made a minister. I guess you believe Paul wasn't telling the truth, Christ said all would happen in that time, go preach the gospel throughout the whole world, NOW PAUL SAID IT'S BEEN DONE, Jeez
FullPreterist 3 years ago
You are partially correct. All cults begin with enough Truth to lead people astray...
"All these things" pertained to THE TEMPLE and OT Ordinaces ONLY.
The 2nd Coming did NOT take place in AD 70. Nor did the rest of the Eschatological Complex:
The Resurrection
The Final Judgment
The Last Day/ Beginning of The Eternal State
kingofkleen1 3 years ago
actually the Second Coming did take place since Christ said to them in Matthew 23 verse 35, that UPON YOU, what don't you understand? That was his vengeance
FullPreterist 3 years ago
The context is the Temple and OT Ordinaces ONLY. SEE vs 1-4.
They knew nothing of a second coming since they didn't even understand His death & resurrection until afterward - when He explained it.
kingofkleen1 3 years ago
he spoke of his Second Coming, if you understood, then he says all these things, who do you think I will believe, you arew Christ, Ill take Christ words way before yours.
FullPreterist 3 years ago
Which verse?
Matt 24 does not refer to the 2nd Coming.
kingofkleen1 3 years ago
Paul would have believed that the Gospel had been preached to all the known world. But as we know, the entire world is much bigger than what they thought it was back in the 1st century.
neuralecho 3 years ago
The point is Paul and others were only commanded to preach to "all the world" in their time, not ours. It's impossible for them after they're deceased. Hence Peter says, they wrote that we would always have their words in remembrance, 2 Peter 1:12. See again in Luke 2:5, where a census was taken in "all the world" under Augustus Caesar. He was only concerned with "counting" the people of his day.

Jesus said "generation", but it meant "race".
This race will not pass away until these things have been fulfilled is what it really means. (Trust me, my dads a pastor)
HailZeon57 4 years ago
My grandmother had a saying. "The devil trusted the turkey, but it flew." Trust in a man is a curse (Jeremiah 17:5), if placed above God's word. If "generation" means race, then there were 42 different races in Jesus' genealogy as recorded in Matthew 1:1-17. So all the "races?" from Abraham to David were 14...from David to Babylonian captivity 14 "races" and from Babylon to Christ 14 races? 14 x 3 = 42. What other human genes do you know of that produces a new race each time a son is begotton?
AllThingsFulfilled 4 years ago

ManassehPoetry 4 years ago
Matthew 24:30-34, Rev. 1:1-3, 7; 22:6-10. Do your research on the apocalyptic use of clouds in the Old Testament and you should have no problem understanding its use in the New Testament.
AllThingsFulfilled 4 years ago
Matthew talks about a worldwide census too. This is because the Roman world was the whole world.
