It's clear to me that they conspired to prevent publication of well-conducted research, conspired to sabotage people's careers for publishing those papers, conspired to under-represent the uncertainties in their own results, and conspired to destroy evidence that would have been revealed by FOIA requests. Some would say they conspired to hide data, but some of that is understandable due to contracts/obligations.

There have been several investigations into climategate 1.0, one even sponsored by the Koch brothers themselves (notorious climate science deniers) and all have found that there was no sign of wrong doing. The Koch brothers investigation even found that "Global Warming is Real". Look it up. Factcheck and snopes both have copious reports on the TRUTH about climategate 1.0. Realclimate has rebuttals directly from several of the scientists involved.

Read comment #79. It's from Peter Thorne of the UK Meterology Office regarding one of his emails that was written in 2005/06, taken out of context and passed off as having been written in 2011.
@chipleeiii The Muller study has major flaws and is unlikely to be published without major revisions. But he already ran to the press and the cheerleaders will continue to believe that he debunked Climategate, even though the controversy isn't whether the globe is warming (by some definition of global temperature). Please, keep throwing strawmen so I can burn them for warmth.
@chipleeiii , when you read all emails from Climategate version 1 IN CONTEXT, you see they were cheating and trying to stop the sceptic true being published. They even did not believe in ther own hoax! They KNEW they were advancing a scam, a scientific fraud. And the same happens with Version 2. They founded (and funded) REal Climate blog to try to stop the fall of the man-made global warming myth. There is a lot of money at stake in the issue. Personal careers, grants, etc.
@Achuara Did they also found the Daily show with John Stewart, factcheck dott org and snopes dott com? Those and many other sources corroborate my claims and have released similar findings. There have also been multiple independent investigations into the emails released during climategate 1.0, and ALL of them found NO WRONG DOING. The emails released in climategate 2.0 were from the SAME time period as 1.0 and contain OLD emails. Deny all you want, but don't lie.
@chipleeiii : I guess you are referring to the fantastic whitewash performed by 5 "independent investigations" -where no critic was nominated to form part of the allegedly "independent" bodies. You can decieve yourself all you want, but don't think you can fool an intelligent person with at least three full functioning neurons. BTW, how did you like the first pre-Halloween snow in the USA since 1886? Or 2332 consecutive days w/o a major hurricane making a landfall in the US? :-)

On the contrary, the record for the strongest hurricane remains at Galveston, year 1900! That's not weather but climate... AGWers predicetd the world would heat 4.5ºC+ by 2020, but temperatures are in reverse, going down, sea levels and surface temps going down, ... I hope these odd things aren't making you nervous. :-)
@Achuara In general, when you find yourself claiming there's been a massive conspiracy, or a "fantastic whitewash", you should probably worry about the tenability of your stance. You've suggested that no less than 5 independent organizations are all "in on" a massive effort to deceive the public. For your suggestion to be true, the entire peer review process would also have to be a conspiracy to deceive. I simply can't imaging WANTING to disbelieve something as bad that. Sorry.
