I bought these silencers probably a year ago. At the time, they felt like a hard plastic-like material mixed with some rubber. Are the now more of a rubbery material?
Also, my current drumset has a bubble on the red pad. Would it be better to just remove the original padding from the red pad and simply place the silencer directly on top?
SO if you don't want to deal with re-affixing the rubber pegs to the drum head, make sure you pull out the pegs along with the drum head. I recommend positioning your fingers so that they grip the pegs when you pull off the drum head. If you can't do that, no big deal, you just have a little more work to do.
great vid. One thing I think you should mention in the info is that putting the pads back on is not as simple as "clicking" them back into place. If you look at 2:25 on the set, you can see the circular rubber pegs you mentioned, which go into the black holders on the underside of the drum head. If you want the drums to be secure, you need to unscrew to holders on the head, remove the pegs from the set, and then screw back on the holders with the pegs underneath 'em. THEN it'll click into place.
Awesome Video dude. I am starting to get bubbles on my red pad....just slightly, not enough to throw off accuracy...does anyone think maybe these silencers could avoid further bubbling?
Thanks a lot for the video. Very helpful. My fingers hurt trying to remove the drumpads while taking care not to yank them out and breaking the wire. 20 bucks for four rubber pads is a bit expensive.
@KnowOne Going on what you know about the silencers, would it be possible to attach one directly to the drum head itself if one of the pads had completely peeled away? Mine had been bubbling for some time and finally broke off entirely and I'm hoping silencers can save me the cost of new drums.
How are the new pad attached-Sticky Adhesive? And if so, do the pads have a lip that comes over, that would allow dirt and such to stick to the back of the pad. And from what your saying these pads cant bubble up.
Last my Yellow pad started to dip in the middle, I could feel a hole and when I hit the middle of the pad it would make a different sound that the outside of the pad, Would this new pad fix this problem, or am I just drumming to hard?
Yes its sticky adhesive. Theres a slight ede that sticks out but the only thing you MIGHT see is hair if you have a pet of anything. And yes it should cover over the hole so you dont notice.
Thanks, I just might do this mod to my rockband 1 drum kit-the red has a bubble and the yellow is...well I can feel a hole in the center - but my kits works great, I just hate the bubbles.
Thanks. No I was hoping the ring could go over the silencers but it can't because they actually screw into the side of the pad and is not big enough to fit over the pad and the silencer.
Does it just have a bubble or crack? If so you can do this as long as its still working like normal even though the pad is messed up. But if your already having accuracy problems then this wont fix it.
Nice video, very helpful KnowOne!

Hey, I have a question.
Does this help with rebounds? Does it drop notes on the EL kit? Could you compare it to the XCell pads if you've ever played on them?

They click back into place.

No just the ring. You stick the silencer on top of the original pad.

good mod dude. I have a question though. once you take the ring off and put the silencer on, can you be able to put the ring back on? let me know.

i wish i would of knew about this, my yellow pad is just all fuck up. would it still work if i put the silencers on there?

The red pad has a bubble but my yellow pad is dinted in so i'll have to hit it really hard or hit it directly in the middle where it's dinted in at.
MrKingbeef22 2 years ago
Well it'll work for the red...not sure about the yellow. Might help, might not.
