People do make youtube videos for a living. This is just getting money from ads. Google WILL pay you quite a bit if you become a youtube partner. This is just getting a partner video. Also people are allowed to upload video game content. Lots of people do that as youtube partners.

Guys I think if you have like 50K subs or higher and your main source of vids are video game videos then you are eligible for partnership just because you have so many subs/views it overpowers the copyright rule.

I can understand channels like machinima and IGN, but what about all these lesser known channels with video game footage that are approved for Partner status?

I've heard so many things regarding the rules.  The most common is that video game footage is "OK" as long as you do commentary. I've encouraged other people with much more popular channels than mine to apply for partner based on that information. (cont.)
