  • This video reminds me of Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid.

  • Aaaah, I miss the muppets..

  • Jim henson must have loved the beatles! and their songs, i love this scene in the muppet show.

  • Jim Henson was a genius who was unappreciated in his own time. I wish we could all have a little bit of Muppet spirit in our soul.

  • @ScrumbleNuts "unappreciated in his own time"? What the hell are you talking about? He was praised like no other for what he did in his own time. He was loved then and he is loved now.

  • @skybreaker09 thank you for the disproportionate amount of aggression there....

I "the hell" am talking about the fact that he died before he knew how much his work had touched so many, and that the passion and skill he put into Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal paid off in the end despite poor box office returns at the time. He was an artist who was well recognised in his lifetime but I don't feel he was appreciated enough. Next time just ask for clarification and drop the attitude.

  • GOT TO LOVE RINGO

  • The guy who does Robins voice is a good singer. But I really wasnt expecting Miss Piggy, but it was so funny

  • nice phaser sounds...

  • @Sasserathome Now that is something I want to know two.

  • epic ;)

    it makes memories come back

  • i still dont get the laugh track at 0:17 but it makes me want to laugh XD

  • maybe it was the sight of the octopus playing the bongo drums. that part was as cute as Robin singing.

  • @hadla because an octopus is drumming

  • This brings me memories of a vhs I had when I was a kid. It was filled with these songs. Lote it.

  • Yeah I first heard this song with the Muppets long ago. Now it is one of my favorite Beatles songs.

  • I didnt even know The Beatles wrote this song... sad, especially considering im a big beatles fan! ha

  • i have this on vhs, and my 7yr and i sing this often at bedtime to help him go to sleep!

  • Know what Herbie the Octopus and the Gills Brothers have in common with the Prairie Dog Glee Club?

  • Ringo received sole writing credit for the song although George Harrison did help him alot with the song

  • George only helped with the "We would be, so happy you and me" part

  • cutest. ever.

  • Ringo Wrote this Dumbass.

  • I remember seeing this as a child and it was before I knew anything about the Beatles.

  • I LOVE THE MUPPETS!! And I love this song and this cute show by them!!

  • KERMIT'S SO NAKED!

  • these niggas had to be high as hell... muppets in space under the sea shit man i grew up during this shit lol.... goodtimes

  • lmaooooooooo<3!!!!!!

  • Do you like fish sticks?

  • Waldorf: Well, that was different.

    Statler: Did you like it?

    Waldorf: No.

    Statler: Then it wasn't different.

  • ACTUALLY this WAS written by Ringo Starr AND George Harrison. don't be too quick to condemn, my friend.

  • your correct but i believe its only credited to ringo

  • if you're speaking to me, you may want to hit the reply button next to my name next time.

  • Actually this WAS written by Ringo Starr, not George Harrison. Get your facts straight

  • Comment removed

  • Nope, your wrong - It was Written by Ringo Starr.

  • I could have sworn my copy of Abbey Road credits the song to Harrison, not Starr at all, though a quick Google search (oh, how simple it would have been to do this two weeks ago). Perhaps I read it wrong. or confused it with a different song. but yes, the internet has spoken.

  • At least your smart, unlike the rest of youtube... Google searching is a good thing haha

sorry i sounded kind of ... you know... rude-ish to you haha

turns out you are partially correct, George Harrison wrote some of the music. When Ringo wrote the lyrics, he only had 3 chords to go with it.

  • Anyone else used to think that giant ray was trying to eat Animal when they were little, but got scared when Animal bit back?

  • Terrific. Loads of fun.

  • ahhh... good times.

  • I love how piggy still does her hair toss thingie, but with her flipper.

  • i remember this i love it!

  • Isn't it delightful? I expect Sebastian the crab, from the Little Mermaid, to turn up!

Miss Piggy was my heroine when I was in Infants' school. She makes a good mermaid.

  • Lol. Kermit has one of those lil swim caps on. Hahaha. Only thing I have a bit of a problem with about this vid/episode or whatever is you can really tell/see that Robin is a puppet. He has a square bottom! Idk why they couldn't make him a bit chubbier like Kermit. Oh well, he's still sooooo adorable.

  • Robin is a much simpler puppet in the way he is made. Kermit has quite a bit of internal padding, and his "bottom" is more rounded. Perhaps the Henson company didn't originally plan on using the simple puppets like Robin as much. But I do agree with you...the froggies ARE adorable. Oh what the heck...I LOVE PUPPETS!

  • maybe because Robin usually just sat somewhere...

  • Some of the best blue screen work i've seen in a while. And Animal FTW!

  • i love this f- in video it reminds me of when i was just a little baby. Those were good times. Really good times.... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • The Beatles were literally everywhere during my childhood apparently ;) No wonder I grew up to love them!

  • Someone knows the spanish version?

    Thanks!

  • Muppets, beatles, and cephalopods, can't get better than that!

  • I guess, Jim Henson was a Beatles-Fan, a lot of Beatles-references and Beatles-Songs were used in Sesame Street and Muppet Show.

    I like it.

It's cute when Robin sings "Octopus's Garden".

  • Jim was an amazing man. His love of music and drama is so beautifully expressed through the Muppets, and it's done in a way that appeals to folk of all ages.. He (and his fellow puppeteers) have brought so much happiness, laughter, and smiles to so many people. I am glad Jim's son is keeping the joy alive.

  • @tenderheart17 After all he fallow in his father's footsteps.

  • @tenderheart17 beautifully said....... :)

  • A classic. <3

  • Things can go strange....this performance meant my first introduction to this classic Beatles song!! I still love both versions (oh man if I go on laughing things are going wrong here hahahahheeeee)

  • good combo.. lol

  • haha! this is so cute

Beatles are awesome, Kermit's the next best thing

  • OMG i searched SO LONG for this video!!!

    THANKKSS

  • miss piggy as a mermaid is my favorite thing i've seen in a long time...

  • i love this video

  • i love beatles and i love muppets

  • LmAo

    when animal swims in xD

  • This is just miraculous, mythical even. I can't even describe in words how much I love that little frog, Robin. He was heartbreaking as Tiny Tim in The Muppet's Christmas Carol. But watch this video, and you just feel happy.

  • I've got that movie. It's so funny

  • this brings back soo many memories

  • I use to watch this all the time when I was little! it brings back such good memories! :)

  • wonderful^^

hope ringo thinks that as well :P

  • HOW COULDNT HE lol

  • Oh I forgot how funny this was!!! I love the swimming cap on Kermit and Miss Piggy as a mermaid...so funny!!! Ah memories...Animal..ha ha ha!!!

  • This is a good video, except they miss a part of the song. After they say "We would shout and sing about, the coral that lies benith the wave" they forget to say "Oh what joy, for every girl and boy, knowing they're happy and they're safe."

  • Muppets, beatles, and cephalopods, can't get better than that!

  • ROBIN IS THE CUTEST MUPPET EVER.

    *end of discussion* :)

  • This is actually why the joke "What sentence spelled the end of the Beatles" "Let's let Ringo write one"

That said, I do like this one.

  • HEY this one is a good song.......the real one is better but still....so is ringo's other one don't pass me by

if you listen to the real one it's way better and it's actually a good song

by the way where is that joke from......family guy?.......i usually like their beatles jokes.......lol "im going to mess u up as bad as i did with the beatles" "yoko this is john, john this is yoko" lol so true

  • You're kidding right? Ringo has yet to write ANYTHING decent. Ever. And it's a very old joke. Ask any musician. It dates back to roughly '75.

  • well he only wrote 2 songs but i really like octopus's garden....seriously its pretty good....not the best from the beatles but its good compared to some of the other stuff he's done.....ask ANY musician....wut wuld u call a musician....someone who's been discovered...cuz im just starting a band we havent even done a show yet but we're musicians......we all really like this song so you can diss our taste but seriously.....if that gunna do either of us any good

  • he also wrote part of "what goes on" from rubber soul (which he sang as well of course), johns finger picking on this song is absolutely hypnotizing, it is definitely one of their better songs of their repetoire

  • ya i dont really like what goes on tho

but i love johns part of this song its awesome

  • yeah "what goes on" is one of those that alot of people arent into, I really like it, but I get why you wouldn't like it

  • Who is the guest star on this episode?

What was the original air date?

  • James Coco was on this episode.

    Season 3, Episode 13:

    UK: December 8 1978

    US: October 12 1978

  • Miss piggy AS THE NEPUNE GODDESS IS CLASSIC

  • i loved this i never knew ringo wrote this but im glad THIS was the first beatles song iheard

  • this scared me as a kid

  • 1 :45 terrorified me.

but everytime i hear the song i rememper kermit ^^

  • yea and the song in general
