@SVenables97 You need 3S and 1800mah at least, though I wouldn't fly it with less than 2200 mah, flight times will just be too short. I don't know what a Walkera lipo has, but if it doesn't have at least the above, don't bother.
@jankaps82 Yeah, it is flimsy, but it takes a beating! The gear is still there after nearly 150 flights on that bird, and it now has a 4S 950W powerplant on it too. I had to repair it once recently after a hard landing, but somehow...
Hi I wouldn't recommend this plane as your first plane, it is a bit too fast and agile. I recommend the Hobbyzone Supercub as a first plane, and this one as a second. That being said, you CAN fly this first, just expect to repair it a lot.
Ive been flying the cub forever now and I mastered it... I want to get the T28D but is it different than the normal t28? I got a Dx5e Remote and the Receiver. So I might get the PNP vers.
HI Jake, only the color is different. Make sure if you get the red one that it has the 30A ESC and not the 25A. They should both ship with 30A now though. I have/had both colors and the white/red version is easier to see, but the Air Force one looks cooler in my opinion. If you have mastered the cub, you can step up to the T-28. That is how I did it. Crashed it hard in the beginning (as you can see in the videos) but the T-28 is really an easy-going flyer. I highly recommend it!
i have a lot of problems hand launching my trojan. I use a dx5e. I can take it off from the ground, but the nose gear is failing on me now. do you have any suggestions for a successful hand launch?
HI Badkarma52, here are some things that may help:
Give the Elevators some up trim before you launch it, maybe just a few clicks. Be sure to retrim it in the air.
Launch at full gas and point it at 45° in the air after a good toss, toss it hard.
Hold the plane in your left hand, and use your mout to give full throttle on the controller, and that way your right hand is on the elevator when you throw it for more up/down control (assuming Mode 2).
im from brisbane australia and im 12 and i flew my trojon by my self for the first time last saterday it fly smooth but i might put a better motor on it!!!
I have posted a video of the T-28 with the Turnigy SK35-42 motor. It really smokes with that thing! Unlimited vertical. The 35-36C from Turnigy is actually better though. Congratulations on your first flight! I hope you will continue to enjoy the T-28 as much as I have!
Thanks mate! I love this plane, this is my second T-28, still waiting on delivery of the upgrade parts for her though. Will post video of her after the upgrades.
Hey aileronjack, the problem is the canopy came improperly cut from the factory. It does not fit on well, so the magnet is useless. I would keep it on even if it did though, because on my first T-28 the canopy bailed on me at 100 feet up. Since then I have always had a band there.
Thanks Kenneth! That field is a dream to fly at, and there are rarely other flyers out there, so most of the time I have it to myself.
Good luck with the maiden, I hope it goes better than my other T-28's maiden flight! Remember to fly high, like four mistakes high and go easy on the throttle. It should fly nice and slow in the air at half throttle once you get some height, then you can trim it out. Have fun, you will love the plane!
i love that paint scheme i just bought a t28 and will maiden this saturday, i hope i fly half as smooth as you :), i didnt even know there was a t28d , and to top it off that looks like one of the most beautiful locations for RC flying ive seen :)
I'm a beginner. The club I'll be joining recommended the T-28. Any trouble with those tiny wheels in the grass? Didn't appear to be.

Also:
Use a neck strap for your controller if you don't already. It makes it way easier to hand launch.
Make sure the plane is not nose heavy when you launch it.
Make sure throttle is at full before your throw it too! I can't think of anything else yet.
Good luck! Hope that helps! Oh, and practice on a grass field not on pavement!

Hey Dumbthumbs:
I noticed a rubberband on the rear of the canopy (probably to hold it on). Try reversing the polarity of the magnets....it should fix the problem,,,,
