  • ???????????????

  • Were studying the salem witch trials in my English class so this song really speaks to me. Keep up the amazing work! :)

  • pure talent. Cheers.

  • Thanks for this thought-provoking and beautiful song. I'm the coordinator of the New Moon Girls book club. New Moon Girls is an online community and magazine for girls ages 8-12. Our September Book Club selection is focusing on the Salem Witch Trials, and I've used this song on our Book Club page. You can view it by visiting the New Moon website and typing "books" into the search box. Thanks again!

  • This Is Class.

  • you. are. amazing. your gonna get discoverd,, then signed. then BAM!! SUPPERSTARRR!! (: keep doing what your doing! ill be the first one to buy your first album!

  • a very powerful song. Thank you.

  • Still brilliant 3+ years later.

    (but enough about me)

    .

    ;-)

  • anyway we could get the chords to this song?

  • Oh wow. Finding this song was a little weird for me. It's not at all like my family's proud of it, but one of my maternal ancestors was the judge during the Trials. Heck, it's just one of the long, growing list of atrocities committed in the name of religion. Truly this is what is meant by the sins of our forebears. I'm ashamed to be blood to the faithful, knowing they allowed such things. Between a putrid, maggot-ridden, diseased vulture corpse and the blood in my veins, I'd eat the vulture.

  • @KyranKandosa

Atrocities were also against the most faithful. It was a honest declaration that killed the people at the trials. In the end it wasn't anything more than self interest and greed that killed the people at Salem.

It's truly disgusting what has been accomplished in the name of religion, and even more disgusting that in doing so they forgot the whole point.

It's also disgusting what's has been in the name of atheism.Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot ,for example.

    All's equal in the end.

  • @kingdomfalls True. I'm an agnostic w/ atheistic leanings, but if I had to choose a religion, I'd probably choose between neopaganism, particularly Wicca, which seems the most benevolent of the "Right-hand" religions I've seen so far, and LeVeyan Satanism(Note that this is a philosophy that embraces Satan as a rebellious figure throughout the history of mythology and a symbol of man's base nature, rather than other branches of Satanism that DO worship Satan)

  • @KyranKandosa

Interesting. I always find it funny to see denominations amongst non-Christian groups after all the hubbub about how everything else is unified.

Then what would that philosophy entail exactly? It sounds like a very one-dimensional philosophy from what you have said.

  • @kingdomfalls Do your research. I know I intend to do some more. It's not really one-dimensional at all. The LaVeyan Satanists are all about individuality, self-exploration, and self-control. They also have an eye for an eye morality as well, though I think that may be a little harsh. I've read a few articles here and there, but it's pretty much summarized in the wikipedia article.

  • I've missed this song...

When are we gonna see a CD from you? :)

    /Benny

  • Wow, this is one of your best, in my humble opinion!

  • cut girl :)

  • cut girl :)

  • saying she's the 'leader of a "hidden thought"' is like calling jack kerouac the leader of the beatnik movement, kind of presumptous

not that she's not damn good

  • I know this video has been on youtube for a while but I have just found it and it is absolutely beautiful! Why haven't I seen your cd's in Wal-Mart yet? You really have the talent. Beautiful music, beautiful person, keep it up!

  • simply awesome...I am a history teacher...I think you should write more history songs!

  • If tomorrow my child asks me: who are the americans? I think I'll find positive answers through you.

  • A song like *salem* is an extraordinary cultural sharing. You give much of yourself for your country. You help me to make a living representation of your country. And I hope your country will thank you. However it is a bit sad that you're the only artist who I can truly say that. But you have fans, friends. I read the comments that you receive. At you alone, you are the leader of a ''hidden thought'' in the minds of your fellow citizens.

  • @Sosthene57 There are many great spirits here... We are not what you see in the news. Our leaders only represent the rich as of late..most people here want to do what is right Except right and wrong have been confused. "the ethics of mankind" needs a revised copy in modern speech so the children will understand that we are all on this blue marble together. The ethics to know the attitude "who cares i'll be dead by then" is a curse to there own soles. to know all life is a family, siblings..

  • @5t34l7h hey! thank you for responding to my comments, 5t34l7h ! (what is the meaning of your name?) i like your point of view. i find it interesting, informative and optimistic. good. i am a big fan of reinadelcid. you can not even imagine how much i love this artist. but im french, and it is always a challenge for me to write comments in english (thank you google translator). so im glad you're understood my comments.

  • @Sosthene57 my name is stealth coded a bit....but it no longer fits me..had the name online for about a decade now..time for me to think of a new one...might be some form of the pied piper now that ive been playing woodwinds and speaking truths...or jack of the green for my connection with nature.....ps. liberty started in this "modern" world with an agreement between france and america...

  • I would like to find an artist who could be your french counterpart. An artist who could paint a vivid representation of my country. Let me know if you ever meet him! haha... ;)

  • whooo! Yah for the witches!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow.. this is a really touching song :)

  • I really like this song. You're gifted!

And I like that you didn't write it from the victims perspective, because that's what everyone would think of first.

Thanks for this beautiful song ;)

  • This was a really interesting song for me to hear, since I'm descended from one of the last people hung in the Salem Trials. An interesting perspective I haven't heard put on the events before.

    I liked very much.

  • @Cambreath I was just about to write the same exact thing; I am also descended from one of the last hung. Perhaps we are related?

  • @chopsueybrandy Yeah, probably. I've met a lot of people with salem victims as ancestors.

  • om) As I was say'n, the songs stand alone, but SEEING your expressive nature... how it shines... every word rings more sincere, the message -infused with substance, the experience becomes all the more evocative. I MAY be uniquely obsessed with this, but "The eyes have it!" -a touch of mascara to frame the windows of the soul. Your gaze... ever so telling, engaging, passionate, spellbinding... I guess my point is... "never leave home without eyeliner." That was just a really long way to say it.

  • Hey Reina! U famous yet? Touring soon? I wanna see a show! Don't skip Hollywood. BTW, thanks for your nice reply on the myspace cover... glad you liked it =) Why am I responding here? Why not. You'll read it eventually. I've been revisiting a few of these great oldies. Haven't heard some for a couple years... always too busy re-listening to "New Girlfriend" when I visit your channle. Ya know, If I would've found these songs on myspace, I'd still luv'em, but (I think I'm about to run out of ro

  • This song almost made me cry the first time I looked at the lyrics. . . so good. . . so sad. . . :(: :):

  • Fanaticism within any religion is the harbinger of sin. If the "Golden Rule" embedded in our soul is followed, such events as Salem would not occur. No doubt Reina gets it. Surely her beautifully understanding mind, along with her amazing talent.....causes God to smile......

  • i live near Salem and love to study things like this!! interesting idea for a song, too. so original.

  • With originals like this, you don't need covers. Excellent.

  • This song is awesome, there's all sorts of amazing things happening in it. Shows a superbly perceptive, independent mind and rare spirit. A young songwriter to watch and love.

  • THis song is so nostaligic I don't know why. I first heard this song only 2 years ago :(

  • I would leave my fiancee for you in about.....3 seconds.....surely.

  • ouch

  • Blame Reina not me.....

  • Ya! That chorus gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it~ Wonderful :)

  • wow i cant think of the correct adjective. great job.

  • This song is amazing. The lyrics are original and very creative. I love it.

  • this is truly amazing. I play guitar and write stuff to, I actully have the same guitar. I'm gonna put some of my stuff up soon, so check it out. Amazing!!! P.S DO YOU CARE OF PEOPLE DO COVERS OF YOUR SONGS??

  • that was absolutely beautiful! people are always so quick to pass judgment! and then persecute just because someone is different! this is a beautiful song!

  • That gave me chills! I love it!

  • It is refreshing to have such a thoughful intellect seeking truth and beauty in this day and age.

    Three Sovereigns for Reina

  • amazing, i wish i could write like that. i can write music on the piano, but i can't write lyrics. but totally amazing!

  • brilliant song and very nice performance! if I may make just one suggestion, I was uncomfortable with the camera angle! I don't want to feel like I'm 'looking down' on you! usually the performer is on a stage, or right in front of us. just an observation. keep up the good work!

  • I especially love the chorus. Lovely words. You are definitely talented. :)

  • I love this.

  • omg! that is such a beautiful song! great job! eerie how it paints the picture of salem! i love it!

  • You are Great.

  • You've got talent. Keep practicing your craft. I think you have the potential to make a living playing music.

  • Can you plz write a song about a crush you can never have

  • i cant get over how amazing she writes

  • i know. i love the orginiality; anyone can do a good cover, but writing your own music, especially as well as she does is a lot harder.

  • nice voice and amazing song. u r vry talented. keep it up

  • Ran out of characters, so will add this other criticism (that has nothing to do with your great talent - as a writer, singer, OR guitar player):

The sound quality on this recording isn't all it could be... so, how about recording another version (and singing "my dreams" this time)?

I just posted: "I have to stop now! Really! Or it could get to be too much of a great thing."

But - of course - I'll be back.

  • I just discovered (1 hour ? ago) you via your cover of Luka, and have since heard your cover of Hallelujah and 3 original songs + 3 covers by others of your songs.

I have to stop now! Really! Or it could get to be too much of a great thing.

I have subscribed, and favourited, and playlisted, and 5*ed...

What more do you WANT from me?

Constructive criticism? OK: in the lyrics it says "And now she haunts my dreams", but you SING "... our dreams"

Stick to "my": It makes it more personal.

  • amazing!!!

  • This is my very favorite song of yours, it has so much truth in it, it's so intelligent. I love it.

  • Search for this ---> JOHNNY LAWRENCE Sounds Good 2 Me

  • Thank you Reina for sharing this with all of us!

    Nadine Salem ;)

  • I'd love to see you concert with this song in five years when you and the song have matured. You both have potential.

  • good stuff.

  • i love this song!! my friend alex and alyse sang this song for our play about the salem witch trials.......it made alot of people cry

  • This is my favorite song of yours. It is one of the best songs I've heard recently. I hope you get signed at some point if that's what you want, or at least that you start selling your music. I'd love to own some of your songs. Thank you for posting these.

  • this is my absolute favorite so far!

because you wrote it from a different perspective, and owned it!

most side with the victim, but in this case you represented the accusers soooo well.

    they would be proud!

  • you have a beautiful voice.

  • Amazing.

  • i love this song. i've had it stuck in my head all weekend

  • Reina, hun. When are you going to get yourself a contract? Or something.

    You're really amazing.

  • Unfortunately, true artists like Reina are often rejected by the music industry. I hope it's different in this case!

  • even tho she doesnt 'hit the charts' she havent lost anything; she still has her self and her gift. :---)

  • That is certainly true :)

  • I'll tell you one thing, she's a crapload better than all this mainstream stuff.

  • Agreed, Fergie.... *shutters*

  • if you like this song you should read the book called " The Sacrifice" it's true about the 1692 witch craze

  • This song is beautifully haunting. Great work, as always.

  • i 've just fallen in love with your music now definitely.

i don't know what it is but your great

  • I hope you wont mind but i am doing a coursework lesson on the salem with trials(in drama) and i might mention this for sum musical stimulus. ;)

    EXCELLENT!!!

  • I LOVE YOU!!!

(I just couldn't say it in a different way)

  • Top me it sounded like your voice that you smoked.. sorry if i got it wrong. if you do and want a career in music particularly singing..stop smoking. if you dont smoke then i got it wrong and i am sorry. cheers

  • Hah, no, I don't. Like most people in my generation, I know better than to start actively chasing down cancer by smoking cigarettes.

  • Stop Smoking

  • she just said that she doesnt

  • The chorus is BRILLIANT

  • hmm.. not my favorite but it's good. :)

  • amazing.

  • I couldn't choose a favorite of your songs, but I think "Salem" is the most lyrically significant and haunting. I love your melodies and voice, and your lyrics range from excellent to brilliant, as in "Salem".

  • I've been listening to 'Sirens' the most, but I just came back to this one.

every so often, maybe once in hundred, songs give me this beautiful shiver.

Do I know you and not realize it?

  • A friend of mine sent me this link a few months ago, and I keep coming back to listen to it over, and over, and over again. I love the emotion you put into this song, not to mention that your guitar and vocals are simply stunning!

  • wow good for you

  • I am sorry I left so many words out in my comment, I tend to that when my thinking gets ahead of my typing, but I hope it is readable and understandable. LOL!

  • Reina, this song is still one of my favorites. Why - first of all you do it beautifully and on par with that is the topic and how you approached it. I think Fear is one the one thing that keep us from empathy with each other, which if we acknowledged we not be able to harm each other, for any reason! That you could do this type of thinking at such a young age and express it the way you did gives me tremendous hope for us humans on this Planet. TY my dear!

  • my fav original song by u Reina! keep it up!

  • This song is awesome! I really like your style... have u ever gone to a studio or are you going to soon? I wish you had a cd... I can't wait for more music of yours... I wish I could write like you! :)

  • OK, here's the thing: I want your autograph...on my arm...so I can have it tatooed!! You're awesome! What will you do with all that money you will make someday??! Keep writing from your heart, it' wild!

  • This song gives me goosebumps...

  • Your songs make me want to cry my eyes out, In a good way. =)

  • I love this song, Reina!

    It's beautiful, thoughtful, and sad.

My only critique is that you misspelled "Arthur" in "Arthur Miller" in the tags. ;^D

    Other than that, wonderful song!

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful and thought-provoking music with the world!!

    <3

    Nate

  • Wow, thanks Nate.

I must have been dyslexically thinking of "Miller" while typing "Arthur." I fixed it.

    Reina

  • Please add subtitles in order that we could sing it

  • Lisa Loeb should be your Godmother

  • ''One at Salem's lot'' from Serve the servants (Nirvana). La chasse aux sorcières. Thanks, I have learn something.
