Best o' '68, i have listen to this album since then, if we can any credit to Al besides being a good music,, is being an adventurer who searched as many stiles as musicians he contribute to , Dylan as an example or organize such a band as B, S &T., he was a man of resources, it doesn´t matter how much he had to give, he gave it, many times hand to hand with Mike, that I dare to put just a few steps behind Jimi, in another stile, with some other gifts, he also was a revolutionary at his time.
I'm convinced now that Mike was better than anyone on guitar. There are better players out there I'm sure, but still Bloomfield is the best. I thought that Clapton, because of his attitude and making one note sing, was the best sounding without being a jazz player as well. I haven't been listening to him very much recently. I'm totally infatuated with the wonderful knowledge of playing Mike always reintroduced.
I used to work with a drummer who said "Isn't funny when you find a drummer that can read (music), he can't count!" It is not a shuffle, but don't blame the guys for using it in the title. There are plenty of misleading titles. This song is in 6/8, that is to say, six beats to the bar. Just count the eighth notes on the cymbals to yourself: ONE twothree FOUR fivesix ONE twothree FOUR fivesix.
@pretorious700 I think I'll go with what both Kooper and Bloomfield felt it was. It was considered a shuffle when my band did it in the late 60s and still is imo.
Hi Otaku3, How are you now after all this time since your trajic events? I hope you and your loved ones are all safe and healthy. Your people have my prayers for a great recovery. Please keep in touch.
The radiation leakage from the nuclear power plant which is an urgent problem is not still processed but because I am okay with my family at the moment, set your mind at ease.
True bliss... That has got to be the most perfect electric blues guitar solo ever recorded. Tone, dynamics, musicality, the vibe, the elegance and drama...
Hey Otaku3, Thank you for reintrotucing me to this great music. If you are ever in Des Moines, Iowa call me and I will take you out for a great dinner.
Hwy...PS are you OK after the Tsunami and nuclear thing?
Fortunately because Tokyo was undamaged from a terrible tsunami, I'm O.K. with my family at present.
But all of Japanese east area including Tokyo is facing the crisis of serious electricity shortage due to a nuclear power plant of a radiation leakage now...
I really appreciate the great support of your country.
I was so fortunate to attend several Mike Bloomfield performances. His intensity and ability were and still are incomparable. Thanks for posting this, one of his greatest recorded performances.
This is so cool. I remember laying in my dorm room holding my two speakers up to my ears and listening to this for hours on end. Listening to this is a trip back through time. Thank you!
I've always thought Mike Bloomfield was one of the best blues players ever.. I am in awe of how good he is. The only thing flashy about his playing was its sheer brilliance. In fact it was blinding. He could hold his own with any of the guitar "Gods" and then some.
Thank you so much. I heard this all through jr. high and high school. I loved Supers Session, but didn't know the name of this. I am remembering groups from my past and trying to track things down. I loved this song! Love it. Now I know it's name and also can look for the album...or if I have to the cd. I still like vinyl. Again, thank you.
Bought this album when it first came out. We were amazed astounded freaked they were SO amazing. Mike, Eric, Mayal, Hammond and Butterfield were our heroes.
Too much for me to figure out by myself. I have searched but there are no tabs or music for this one. Got to see him live with the group in early 70s. Waited till they let us in free, then he played for another 2 hours. They finally turned off the electricity.
Mike was, within any given riff, both a roots revivalist & an experimentai improvisor: No doubt he's playing blues, & when you listen for influences, you find them, but when you just listen, it's all Mike. He tirelessly gave credit to the greats before him: Albert, BB, Freddy, Muddy, Wolf, Otis & Buddy all had major career resurgences, due largely to Mike virtually -demanding- it. At the other end, Mike's THE beginning of modern lead guitar, electrifying the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
Bloomfield was a master guitarist. The Super Session album and Crosby, Stills & Nash album helped get me through Vietnam in 1969. I'd listen to them for hours on my reel to reel tape deck. Another great guitarist in Bloomfield's style was Danny Gatton, who came along years later. He died in the mid 90's (suicide), but he was another master of the guitar. You can check out some of Danny's posted vids here on YouTube. Check out Blues Newburgh.

The best moment of my life was at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach CA. Bloomfield, Naftalin, Cropper, Dunn. Feet on the stage and Wild Turkey 101.

He was kind of BB King with more "fire" if you get what I mean.
His playing really matured and he could hold his own with the very best in the business.
Damn drugs took another one much too soon.
My God, but they have one great band in heaven.

スティルスはブルームフィールドが病気で倒れたために急遽代役として録音に臨んだようなので、このセッションにはいない筈です。
とすると、声の主はアルクーパーあたりではないでしょうか。

I do not think so.
If this rhythm is not a shuffle, please teach me that definition.

60otaku3 9 months ago 3
@60otaku3 This is merely a midtempo blues. A shuffle has to have a least a small amount of swing feel.
pretorious700 9 months ago
I think that a fast tempo or a slow tempo has nothing to do with explanation of on a shuffle.

'blues' is a definition of structures of music.
'shuffle' is a definition of a rhythm style.
