  • WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT

  • WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU LEAVE THIS VIDEO UP YOU GODDAMN DOUCHE CANOE

  • stupid cock sucker

  • ZNFJSRNFF NSDUIFNDIJSNF

  • Wtf

  • How the fuck is this video still up? 5 years of this static bullshit??

  • my favorite part was ``CRSHHHHHH CRSHHHH CRSHHH CRSHHHH''

  • This sound quality is surprisingly well! The obnoxious static really adds to the mood of the soloing. When the video is over you want to sit there and ask yourself. "Did my ears really deserve that?" :)

  • Is it only me or someone is breathing very very loudly when I watch this vid ?

    This is very annoying -___-

  • I CAME WITH THIS NOISE!

  • love the quality

  • GREAT SOUND BY THE WAY!!!!

  • @cd31247 lol

  • FUCK THIS NOISE

  • owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • 269 people are deaf

  • @tsoww no!they r not deaf! the sound of this video sucks!i would agree with u only if i could hear Victor's bass sound rather than a jackhammer's! :P

  • PFFF do do do PFFF do do PFFF do PFFF do do do PFFF do do PFFF do PFFF

  • Okay dude can you please do something about the audio? Or at least re-upload this clip and see if that works?

  • pfffff pffff this is star command. lol

  • 'o ceeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • horrible audio!

  • PFF PFFF PFFF PFFFF PFFF PFFFF PFF PFFFF PFFF PFF - great bass.

  • Wow this just proves again and again Wooten can achieve any sounds he wishes, genius .

  • nice quality ~_~

  • Jaco did his thing but he is no where the best ever there are so many bass players today that would give Jaco the Blues further more Jaco was not even a great thumper I will give him credit for being the Jimi Hendrix of the bass in his time .

  • Standing ovation for the FUCKING GREAT QUALITY!!!! FUCK THIS VIDEO GODDAMN'T!!! >=/

  • Awesome quality dude.

  • I had to stop listening because I just heard alot of "CRAASSHH" is this video bugged or something?

  • i think his distorion pedal is a little to loud

  • th sound quality in this can suck my fucking balls.....y upload this? :S

  • I hear much STATIC!

  • Why is there much ear rape in this song?

  • SYNTHAXE!!!!

  • Woah, someone needs to calm it with the distortion effect? D:

  • Victor is just so damn good its too much for the mic to handle.

  • wtf

  • Como se puede ser tan hijoputa de colgar un video con ese ruido de fondo? y por cierto comparar a jaco pastorius con victor wooten es una somera estupidez ademas de una barbaridad. Para comparar un grande con jaco comparad a Gary Willis

  • That is some very interesting audio you got there...

  • For those interested "Skipe098" has a cleaner version of this. I'm getting the same static as "Seattlecarnut " is.

  • While the music may be good, the sound is awful! I'm getting nothing but static every other note Victor's playing.

  • Haha, I love his facials

  • Even when he isn't using any technique besides plucking he's the meanest bassist you ever heard (so to speak). Then he goes and melodically taps while he's walking with his left hand. I can hardly deal with this

  • If Jaco were to come down from the heavens today and sit down with Victor Wooten, he would say to Victor "Thanks for being an amazing bassist and carrying on the legacy" and Victor would say to Jaco "Thanks for pioneering like you did" and then, they would jam together.

These stupid, petty comparisons would be left to the rabble, who don't matter to great musicians who realize that music isn't a sports contest; it's the greatest individual gesture of creation a man can undertake.

  • i could listen to victor all day :) he has a really relaxing feel to the way he plays

  • is this the flecktones?

  • @sparkinsons yes indeed

  • what is the pirate dude playing on? :D

  • @filipdinev1 it's this crazy electronic drum set he made. he's "futureman" and he made the thing and rigged it up to midi drum or something

  • he's really great !!! tnx !!!

  • kkkikk

  • i love vicor wooten but he is always tripping balls on something

  • Is that a Ken Smith he's playing.

  • @hahabass It's a Compito fretless.

  • now that is a true musician. notice how he played the music without even looking or using frets. you can tell hes practiced on that bass and knows were exactly to put his hands for that solo. wish i was that good.

  • @scarfaceisyourdad Purely practice. Try playing songs you know in different positions, like I learnt Teen Town by Pastorius/Weather Report and learnt to play it all over the neck, octaving and sliding around. Using that I can now tell (just about) where my hands are.

  • Everyone of this band is amazing!!!

  • has no one else noticed half of this solo is a song from mario. LOL

  • i guess not! haha

  • @dalondoner fuck i think it is! hahahah

  • is he using round or flat strings on that?

  • according to one of his lessons, he developed his tapping skills by observing how a pianist plays the piano.

  • You don't get this good because of the money...

  • That highly electrified banjo is a trip!! I've never heard anything quite like that before!

Wooten's pretty sik! LIKE that guy.

  • Nice to hear Victor Wooten play a nice super tasteful solo

  • why comparing jaco with vic?.and if he sound little like jaco so what, who dont want to sound like jaco? hes great..thats why few people success cuz, few have the passion on what they doing like playing bass, game, etc, that why vic is great cuz the passion.. the faces that they make wile they playing a solo, they feel the music,

  • Well said, he talks about how much he worships Jaco, and I think everyone does.

  • well i don't know that,,he always seems to talking about them old school bass players like jaco, stanley, and many ,,,,,,,but got to say that,, yes jaco was a beast on the bass,, he always put the right note,,,but how you'll compare jaco and vic ,,,of course every one wants to sound like jaco but thats his sound ,,,,now vic sound really different

  • futureman / roy

  • that guy who is victors brother is called futureman

  • that synth guy was freakin me out

  • what the hell was that intergalactic communication device that creepy guy with the dead possum on his head was playing?

  • That's a such called "SynthAxe Drumitar"

  • and the 'drummer (Can we still call him that?)' is Vic's brother!!!

  • its called a drummitar you should look it up its pretty cool

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 It's a SynthaxeBut it's set up to play drum patches.He calls it a "Drumitar'

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 i think it was a midi guitar

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 an intergalactic communication device! :)

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 That would be the drumitar and his name is Futureman.

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 he made it himself, its like a cross between a guitar and a drum machine, bassically a drum machine

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 It's called a drumguitar, and he wears a pirate hat... not a dead possum... not sure why, but it's not a possum. His name is Future Man and he is Victor Wooten's brother.

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 It's also known as a synthaxe

  • @GuitarPUNK1209 its a "Drumitar"

  • AWESOME....VIC IS THE BEST!!!!

  • lmao

  • фирма!

  • 2:40 He makes fucking paradiddle!

  • left right left left right left right right soundls like hes doing a paradiddle

  • Jaco, Jaco, Jaco...that's all I ever hear in many bass videos. I mean yes, Jaco was brilliant and his influence can't be denied. But really, give it a rest guys. Let's listen to what Victor has to say through his playing and not talk about how Jaco will always be the greatest or how Victor is "ripping him off", which he is most certainly not.

    Sigh...*end rant*

  • @viper914 correct..victor "stole" what jaco had in his playing and made it his own style...instead of just "copying" his style..

"real musicians steal...not copy" - anonymous

  • @doublethumpbass89 thats not true at all.. victors playing may be influenced by jaco but he certainly didnt steal jaco's style. An instrument is different in everyones hand weather it is the same instrument or not it will be unique to them. so there playing styles may be the same. but there playing is totally different. two different souls create two different feels.

  • @themacleodreynolds thats the point i was making stupid

  • @doublethumpbass89 well it didnt seam like it. its pathetic how people cant just say "thats the point i was making" they have to call them fag or stupid in a sad attempt to make themselves look bigger and cooler but it makes you look like your incapable of having a conversation without letting your over active ego get in the way. so... have fun with that. :0

  • @themacleodreynolds im not anything like that..infact im extremely nice..but when you misunderstand me ill tell you something

  • Comment removed

  • wow

  • Jaco's sound is here....it was Jaco's...everyone else is a student..including Victor....

  • GO VICTOR!!! No one rocks the bass quite like he does!!!

  • i love victor wooten but the baddest man on the panet when it comes to playing electric bass is not Vic, its the Budha, Bill Dickens....if you have never heard him then you have not heard the best ...the stuff he plays makes Vic shake his head.

  • Bill has more chops than Victor, but I think Victor has a much more musical style than Bill, who tends to be more of a "shredder" bass player. In my opinion Victor is better because of that. His music brings more beauty than Bill's

  • HA i have the same bass. well its not fretless and its not custom made by anybody but i have the same model :P

  • wtf is that dude playing at 1:53 ?

  • Its a Frankenstein drum and note synthesizer he built himself.

  • another name is drumitar right?

  • A Synthax Drumitar.

  • thats true jaco is a legend

  • Victor wooten, el bajista màs completo de la historia!!

    saludos desde Uruguay..

    Ismael Viera.

  • This is wit Bela fleck and the flecktones

  • Why thumbs down? He's right.

  • He is Jimi Hendrix of bass

  • understatement

  • Um what the fuck is going on?

  • Oh my goodness, dude.

  • what the heck is that weird looking instrument that one guy was playing?

  • it's the drumitar. RayEl invented and built it. read up on it, very worthwhile

  • nice ibanez btb

  • Indeed it's a custom 5-string fretless made by Joe Compito. Mahogany body with a Purpleheart top.

  • unfortunately I don't like his groove on a fretless

  • I agree but don't be a troll

  • Kinda pointless to compare him to Jaco. To this day, this is the only footage I've ever seen of Wooten playing a fretless. He's all about slaps and pops, otherwise. Considering it's such a rare occasion to see the man with a fretless in his hands, his fretless playing is remarkable.

  • I've seen Victor 5 times live, most of it - close up. Including fretless. By the way, watching Victor live is another ball game. First of all, you don't blink, secondly - your blood gets to move at a very high rate.

  • i know this is jazz and i totally admire his skill,,,but who over here feels this is some totally random stuff???

  • why is this spam lol

  • why is what spam?!

what the hell are you talkin about?

  • I think Victor actually rehearses EVERYTHING---no room for error, but it sounds random.

  • I don't. I think he just has a ton of different sounds he's used to playing and he just intermixes them up in different orders.

    =x

  • Most musicians rehearse a solo before they perform, i dont think that he's playing a "written" solo as much as he is drawing from different licks that he has played before and sound good, he's a brilliant musician, he really knows his shit

  • anyone else wonder where Victor gets his shirts? they're all crazy

  • There all awesome is what I think you meant.

  • que modelo de bajo ese?

    alguien me podria decir???

    suena bien!

  • Victor was excellent! genious playing..

but Jaco's playing is Jaco's playing! forever!

  • This jazzy kinda stuff is like another language to a metal player like me. It's just so different (in a good way). Vic is the best bass player ever!

  • thats the grooviest tone ever!

  • When was that recorded?

  • What was the instrument that one dude was playing? It looked like garbage formed into some sort of accordion guitar lol

  • it's RoyEl's (aka futureman) Drumitar. he can recreate any sound from an original drumset with it

  • Comment removed

  • it's useless comparing jaco with victor, of course jaco is a huge influence on victors, all musicians have influences, that's how we make music! We take everything we've ever experienced, and ever heard, and put our own spin on it.

  • do you know which oe it is when he breaks a string?

  • Victor breaks a string during his solo on "Sinister Minister" Replying to Juggernaut2790. Peace.

  • victor Bailey plays 3 times better concept and fell,,,,

  • I really don't see the connection between Jaco and him. You really don't know what you're talking about. If you're stupid enough to actually react to my comment I will argument my statement

  • Hm, I see, still no connection with Jaco

  • Of course there's a connection to Jaco. Jaco's a big influence on Victor in some ways. But Victor isn't ripping him off. If anyone thinks that just watch his other videos. He's amazing and original.

  • Right! You can't rip off a feeling. Wooten induces a similar feeling that Jaco did. That doesn't mean he took any ideas. Those who absorb inspiration are real musicians.

  • What is this "sistem" [sic], exactly?

  • hehehehehe... listen Jaco Pastorius first album from 1976 - song CHA CHA (OVED TO A). This "original" solo of Victor is just a little cheap trick from 30 years before... NOT just Jaco, here are a little bit of this and a little bit of that... Jaco, Stanley Clarke, etc... puzzles... OK : "influences" , hehehe ;)

  • What is this "sistem" [sic], exactly?

ANSWER : rthythmic and harmonic characteristic of some bassplayer's playing... his personality on 4 strings. If you are not the musician, you can't understand, what I talkin' about... I AM.

  • So am I, and you're just talking shit.

  • lol awesome

  • Another one imitator [sic]

  • HE IS THE TRUTH!!!

  • i know it sounds shameful, but i like fretless and want one so i dont have to worry about slapping, because i just can't get the technique down! does anybody have any advice?

  • Don't slap. It makes no sense.

  • buy a bass with a thumb rest. it will help you with slapping and help you slap ghost notes between the notes you slap

  • thumb rest? how does that help.lol

  • a hella lotta practicing is really what it takes. jss keep practicing and youll fix your bad techniques without even knowing it.

  • Slapping takes A LOT of practice. It may be that you're trying to do too much. Start with slapping open strings, do this at various tempos. Eventually when you can do this comfortably, go on to slapping all 4 open strings in random succession, then try slapping out scales. When you feel comfortable with that, start to introduce popping. Be patient and put in a lot of time and you will be able to slap well.

  • but when he plays these accords with his right hand.. they arent 100% clean are they?? O.o im sry.. dunno..

  • Those high notes ARE actually Victor farting - he just mimes the notes in those bits. Such talent!

  • This is true. He has so much control over his body. I envy him.
