An instrument is different in everyones hand weather it is the same instrument or not it will be unique to them. so there playing styles may be the same. but there playing is totally different. two different souls create two different feels.

Slapping takes A LOT of practice. It may be that you're trying to do too much. Start with slapping open strings, do this at various tempos. Eventually when you can do this comfortably, go on to slapping all 4 open strings in random succession, then try slapping out scales. When you feel comfortable with that, start to introduce popping. Be patient and put in a lot of time and you will be able to slap well.
