  • M1 KORG is not dead!

  • -hi will you understand the programming wing korg m1 which is when the screen says encendes and workstation korg m1 music and nothing works and no sound.

  • love the sound of korg m1

  • What patch did you start at 1:46? it sounds sooo classic!

  • korg M1 or korg kontrol for music production????

  • nice

  • I don't think Depeche Mode even used the choir sound on the M1 did they?

  • @YungJoshii I was thinking the same thing, enjoy the silence..

  • My gf has an M1 that her uncle gave her, but didn't come with much in terms of cables and accessories. Do you know what Korg pedal (or non Korg) that would work with the M1?

  • What kind of softwere do you use for recording?

  • Reminds me so much of Innuendo. (Queen's last recorded album.)

  • You really don´t like to play the white keys, don´t you ?

  • @harpsinth Black keys are the quickest way to get some harmonies going (pent. scale), so it's understandable :)

  • Does anyone know if the M1 software that comes with their USB keyboards is exactly the same as this in terms of the capabilities? If I'm not getting an M50 for Christmas I should be getting a new laptop and I want to get one of the USB keyboards to go with it. I make J-Pop music and I am hoping it'd be good for that.

  • 0:27 enjoy the silence! great....

  • @thegreatpizzaman

    LOL !!!!!!!

I really beg your pardon ... cause I could not give you many more "thumbs up" !

  • I remember when these were brand new. I never had the pleasure of owning one, but I know own the KLCDE, and it sounds just like it. It's incredible to get the sounds of this awesome machine for only $150. Long live the M1!!!!!!

  • The KORG M1 is the greatest synth of alltime PERIOD. Everything that came afterwards is just a clone or more complex. The M1 is as good as its ever got.

  • 1:16 is that a factory preset or custom? sounds wicked

  • Não nego que é um excelente sintetizador, mas porém há de se reconhcer que é de tamanho exagerado, embora muito bonito e de aparencia chamativa, não possui timbres fantásticos, mas um bom som.

  • Hi, I have a question regarding M1 split combi.

Is there a way to ranspose the lower (left) side of a combi ?

    Thanks

  • Hi. I'm 12 and I have a korg m1. I want a kruziel but I don't think a korg is cut out for me. Do you think I should buy a kruziel or stay with a korg?

  • @alphacode909 im trying to pick this up around 400$ still works, what do you think man?

  • @Taud a bit high on the price , to me 200 would be max.got mine for 90.

  • @Taud

    for me, $350 max

  • @alphacode909 try synth, if you like - only korg (triton - seq etc). Computer - native instruments (german)

  • @siwess what? was that supposed to be english?

  • @stinkyfinger5000

Of course you can,. Diffrence is I cannot see the point in being rude via a laptop as it just makes me an arse. Stand next to me and say that type of shit and ill smash your teeth out much like any one else.

You say im a troll yet your opening line to me is "Are you fucking dumb" Yeah reeeaalll hard man. Hey dont spill your hot chocolate haha, little 12 year old.

  • @stinkyfinger5000

Ah - a real hard man eh? Its amazing how rude you can be via a laptop from a different country. Get bullied at school do we so need to take some cyber revenge? eh, sad freak! And all from the comfort of your cosy bedroom whilst momma make you a cup of hot chocolate with a marsh mallow.

  • @stinkyfinger5000 The M1 had 16-bit samples, that's what distinguished it from D-50 8-bit samples. Who needs a monitor on an instrument? Just get a PC instead and forget about fine tactile instruments.

  • There's like a delay on everything you play, like the "Enjoy the silence" part.

Can you make it react instant? or is it something in the sound?

  • DreamPad patch is awesome

  • did depeche mode use the m1 for all the synth parts on "enjoy the silence" or just for the choir voice part?

  • Does this have its own sound output, or is it like a midi controller? I'm a little new to all this electronic music business, and I would like to find a good stage synth without having to hook it up to a laptop at shows.

  • I have a Korg M1 in MINT condition for sale in London England for £250. - 25/5/2011

  • V synth?????

  • if you did create these sounds? send these to me in email form!!

  • Which program did you use for filter? cubase? or are these factory presets?

  • bien ahi gato negro!!!

  • Does anybody here know how the Korg M1 Soft Synth from the Legacy Digital Bundle stands against this Hardware M1. Is there much difference in Sound? Just interested if they did a good Job at Korg or not becouse the Wavestation Software Synth is fantastic and i would like to know if I need the Digital Edition including the Korh M1 Software Synthesizer...By the way, I love the Sound of the Korg M1 - the Synthesizer of the Ninties were anyway better then the new ones coming out latly.

  • nice patch at 1:18

  • The M1 has character, what you can't say about modern workstations. This character results not only from the technical concept, also the early D/A converters and imperfection of the old hardware contribute to this special sound.

I like the M1 more than a D-50, because the m1 is easy to programm without any programmers / editor software.

  • Hello! I have bought one few days ago, so Im new in it. Can you tell me where did you get this sounds? Can you transfer them one to one sound into the korg from computer?

  • Very nice demo! Do you know which new Korg synths have the "Universe" patch?

    M 50, X 50, Microstation?Thanks a bunch

  • Love the bass tone at 4:00. Is that a preset patch or something you put together? If so, would you mind sharing some of the parameters?

  • This video is a pure proof that the M1 is a fantastic instrument, and everything that Korg made after that, was just to squeeze more money out of us by making us believe that the later the synth, the greater. That is simply not true. The M1 is enough. If you can't do with M1, then you can't do with anything else.

  • @dvamateur This would be one of the very few intelligent and true comment / statement about an instrument.you are right all korgs past m1 have no major improvements but this iseven more true for roland past the d50 / jd800. Nothing goodcame from these compagnies since the early 90's

  • @alphacode909 Well, I am not saying that the new synths are not good, because they sound good, but they just don't satisfy my aesthetic needs. To me, DX7 and D-50 are like Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul. Timeless designs. For guitar players looks and feel of an instrument are very crucial, why not for keyboard players? Why isn't the audio business getting it? I just don't dig the soft synths, becuase there's no look and feel of an instrument to them at all... Okay, I am old.

  • @alphacode909

Guys if you think Korg is bad try Roland.

    Creators of the Jupiters 4, 6 and 8. Juno's 6, 60's and 106. SH101, TB303, TR808 and 909. All from the 90s.

    And what Since the 90s?

New Junos that resemble nothing like the amazing originals. New SH range that is nothing lke the 101. And loan behold the up and coming Jupiter 80. Bet its nothing like a Jupiter 8!

So I do agree with you. But it isn't just Korg.

To put simple - How the mighty have fallen.

  • @kolakube123 LOL oh my god just had a fight with a bunch of idiots praising the Jupiter 80 for its trumpet sounds ! 100% with you on the comment about Korg and especially Roland !

  • @alphacode909

Its a sad fact mate but its true. Neither Korg or Roland have released anything even eyebrow raising since this millennium. Not a thing and thats between them.

  • Are you guys saying not even the v-synth is worthy?

  • @alphacode909 Well, I agree with you guys. There is only one highlight that roland made : the XP-60/XP-80. I own a XP-80, and of course it is not as good as for instance a Korg M1, but it is a great synth. I hope comapanies like Korg and Roland will pick it up again with synths like the M1.

  • @kolakube123 ...all these machines are from the 80's... I was there.

  • @pinahl

    ??? All what machines???

  • @kolakube123

the original junos/jupiters were meant to emulate acoustic sounds using primitive technologies. weren't meant to be synth beast

  • @kolakube123 : I don't totally aggre... Some machines are exceptions... With Roland, for example, the V-Synth (XT) is really interesting because of its VariPhrase integration within a synth structure.

After the M1, Korg released the WS serie... But it's a long time ago, now...

The Golden Age of True Synths is dead... It's now the Age of Huge SoundBanks....

  • I ask you if you send me linktog program with which you made the colors

  • @alphacode909 The 1994 Roland JV-1080 is pretty good and I think better than the M-01, although those pads are really nice.

  • @dvamateur

i love my M1. but polyphony is one of the reason the later models are "greater", not necessarily sound wise. but M1's UI despite being just 2 lines of LCDs, surprisingly very intuitive. there are missing sounds many sounds missing, but present in the 01/W.

M1 is great, 01/W is greater

oh yeah, M1's sax is still way better than many today's boards

  • @dvamateur I love the M1, but the Trinity is also SWEET! To me the Triton, & all that came afterwards just can't compare with the sound quality. Don't get me wrong, Kronos is bad ass, but the older Korg synths seem to have a much lusher sound to them.

  • My first Synth - I was soooooooooo proud and lucky!!!!

  • Nice DM segment

  • G I have this in fl studio search for korg legacy vst.

  • Just got my M1 for 150$. These are very good sounds, remember where you get them? Theres tons of sounds on the net for free!

  • At 6:19 it's so beautiful !!

  • Words like violence

    Break the silence

    Come crashing in

    Into my little world

    Painful to me

    Pierce right through me

    Can't you understand

    Oh my little girl

    Your're THE guy!

I'm Depeche Mode cover. Check out my videos!

  • Almost sound of AVATAR from James Horner's music.... :-)

  • @TrendyhendyPD -- Thank You my good man!

  • 00:58 X-files sound fx !! Great

  • @TrendyhendyPD - I'm not saying from an ethical point of view to do this Trendy, but you can actually download this keyboard for free from a website like vstclub.соm

It's called the Korg Legacy Collection. You just hook your midi controller to your computer, or get a usb to midi cable that allows you to hook a regular keyboard up to a computer, then get a VST host that'll play VSTs & VSTi's. Even something simple like Hermannseib's vsthost program. Then just download & play that exact keyboard.

  • which is the synth with more character in your opinion? Roland D-50 or Korg M1?

  • @AnalogAudio1 well they are completely different really ,different tone ,different character ,you would have to have both imho... I would recomment a Polysix /d50 / dx7 II / M1 / and Jd-800 for a perfect 80s/90s setup all together should be 2000$ tops and you can't go wrong with these...

  • @alphacode909 -- I like your taste in keyboards Alpha "thumbs up"

  • just recently sold my M1 and wish i had kept it now :o(

  • are these all factory patches?

  • omg i wish that Santa brings me one of these!!

  • How do you get the factory sounds back I replaced my battery, where is the demo song located?

  • Thanks for the video posting.. I'm picking up a mint one tomorrow! Nice...

  • it was the first synth that had a very similar SAX sound! first time i played was 1991.

  • Wow! It's probably at least 10 years old and yet still retains such good audio quality! The magnificent Korg quality shines through! And nice playing too!

  • @jackspic3 : The Korg M1 was created and sold over 20 years ago actually. ;-)

  • I bought my M1 back in 1996 for 1200 Deutsch Mark. It's spent many year in my cupboard. I will never sell it. The M1 will always be a remarkable synth. I also have a Korg Poly800 too.

  • i just sell one for $10, damn

  • @he214ab I hope the crack was worth it.

  • I just got one for $200 with four cards. ::)

  • Hey guys, I need help. Where is transposition option on korg m1? Can you please write me how to get to it? Tnx in advance

  • nice but nothing any software synth can't do

  • @JohnF30Music Well in theory but you have to imagine listening to these sounds 20 years ago and the wow factor then was far, far greater than any softsynth today. This and the vsti version actually sounds better than most softsynths today because it has excellent synth presets and a good range of real world sounds and experimental plus this created a whole generation of dance music back in the 90s due to its classic piano, bass and organ sounds. Not many softsynths can claim that today.

  • @maccagrabme i don't see how you prove what i said wrong. you basically agreed with me by saying that.

  • @JohnF30Music I'm not really proving anyone wrong, I'm saying that the M1 is special. It has a unique set of sounds that no other synth has, you can tell an M1 a mile away whereas most new synths are much harder to seperate because they try to be all singing all dancing. The majority of softsynths do not impress me in the same way which explains why my fav softsynth is the Legacy collection. Obviously not the most advanced synth but one of the best sounding along with the Wavestation

  • nice.. now I know how Halo's sound tracks were created, good playing

  • Great! Can you help me? What's better sounds Korg M1 or Roland D50?

  • magic..just magic

  • Hi! nice playing!

what is the name of preset of "Depeche mode - enjoy the silence"?

  • I've been thinking about getting a synthesizer to use for a cheap alternative to the hammond organ sound (as apposed to the typical electronic sounds they are usually associated with) in a live band. There's tons of dirt cheap synths on ebay - which are the brands/types that would be appropriate for me?

Also - would you feed them through the P.A., Their own P.A. or some kind of seperate backline rig?

  • @OIIIlllIIIO well put it this way, any commercially released record in the late 80's and early 90's that had an organ sound on it which wasn't a hammond was usually a korg m1.

  • I've owned an M1 for about 5 years, just can't grow to love it at all ... is it just me?

I have 9 synthesizers and the M1 is 1st on the list for departure. I like having control at my fingertips... much prefer Roland & Yamaha.

  • Hi, I just wondered which sound bank you used for this video, planning on doing some depeche mode, I could create the sound but I have all the program banks so if you know which one it is it'd be easier. cheers :)

  • I have an m1 next to me. I dont know how to use it though :P

  • excuse me, I have a question, bro!!!!

does this piano has D 50, DX7 and some korg famous sounds???? like choirs, pizzicatto, EP´s, and hammond sounds????

I´ll be thankful for your answer!!!!

    THANKS!!!

  • i had a korg m1 too, should never have sold it.

  • excellent demo!

  • 6:20 I just found my first synth! Amazing sounds!

  • After all this years this synthesizer still sounds great. Very nice patches. Thanks

  • Amazing

  • Comment removed

  • Simply amazing. What a great demo, your excellent, you'th convinced me, I need one for my collection. I just wish I had your skill. keep it up, well done, and thanks for posting. LOL .

  • I owned an M1, but sold it last summer. It still has some of the best sound effects and programs you'll ever find in any synthesizer. Each synth is very special - I also miss the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 that I sold last summer, but I had to make room for keyboards that I'll actually use on a regular basis (for jazz). Thanks for posting this demo. It really makes the M1 shine!

  • i have yamaha motif xs 7 but korg have the best synnth choir waveforms on the world

this is really good old keyboard

    i like it

  • i really like the patch @ 2:14

is there any way to translate it for the legacy digital M1? is it a preset or a custom patch?

  • Interesting demo. I really liked the cello sounds on my old Korg Poly 800. I have an old DX7, but need a synth with good cello sounds. Would you say the cello sounds on the M1 are realistic? What would be a good synth to buy for cello sounds? Thanks, Keith Smart

  • hey dude i was wondering if by any chance u can show me how to get the violin sound to work because u just got an m1 Korg and i cant get the violin to work, get back at me when u can.

  • i have the legendary korg m1 with some patches from the magnificent roland d50 that i edited myself and they sound identical i will say,the only problem is this is my first time uploading with a camera and i had some latency on the audio

  • @Solaris1992 Yeah the American version used the Ensoniq MR76 for a lot of it. My music teacher had one and I will never get those presets out of my head!

  • Hi. I´ve just bought a second-hand one, but it's got an iff, the number controls to change the preset don't work properly. I was going to change them but it cost me a lot. I see you change some presets with the controls on the left part. Is there a real alternative to the number controls? Thanks.

  • man...secret weapon of pro music tracks...would love to get one of these...simply amazing..

  • When I was in High School, I always wanted a M1. That an a DX7 FDII. I never did get one. Now I have a Motif ES 7, and I bought the Korg Legacy Collection Digital Edition which has the M1 and all the cards made for it and it has the Wavestation with all the cards.

  • you will find that they are presets but totally customizable I have had mine for 20 years and just bringing it out of the mothballs after 10 years because it still is one of the best and you can get all sorts of patches. touch sensitivity is fantastic.

  • It has much better sound quality than the M3. Who agrees?

  • it sounds beautiful.

  • Can anyone tell me what patch or combination is being used on the 1:15 - 1:35 segment. Please help, awesome sound. Best ambient synth ever.

  • @akablenk71 sounds like a synth bass, with an echo delay. not sure on the delay time. very basic sound. also with a touch of flange.

  • @akablenk71 It probably is just a saw/square wave with a cool delay... ;)

  • Fantastic bit of kit. I went searching for one of these about 5 years ago and ended up with the Korg MicroX which don't get me wrong is a serious bit of kit and way ahead of the M1 but I regret it now. M1 has magic that no other synth has touched on. Great demo. Thanks man.

    Gaz

  • AMAZING!!!! KORG RLZ!

  • soon as i heard the depeche mode style vocal patch near the start, i realised i must own one of these!

  • awesome sounds! what speakers you use?

  • You said some of these patches are free

off the net..What's the link to this site.

  • what the card is it?

  • do u know if theres any difference between this m1 and the soft one from korg legacy digital collection?

  • There is very little difference i have to say but the m1 are fairly cheap so if you can get one :)

  • The Korg Legacy Collection is pretty cheap, not much dearer than a 2nd hand M1.

You get a lot more for your money as well. All cards ever released for the M1 are included. It's 256-voice as well. You don't have to worry about a nother stereo pair of inputs either. It's digital, so there shouldn't be any differences. If there is, it's probably because of the M1's converter.

The M1's aren't very well built either.

    I hardly ever see a pristine M1.

  • @alphacode909 i m telling stupid things here the legacy collection had the Wavestation not M1 does it ? hmm...

  • @alphacode909 -- The version I have Alpha is called the Legacy Collection. It consists of the MS-20, PolySix, M1, Mono/Poly, Wavestation, and the Legacy Cell. All of these sounds you're playing, or capable of playing right here on your demo, are on that beautiful prestine collection, and accurate to a tee. Plus there are SO many more sounds because of the other included synths, it's unbelievable!. If you get a chance, get it. It's absolutely phenomenal.

  • @chrishooper68 What ? really im going to check it out right now as i mainly use Vst plugins these days could be fun. thanks man

  • @chrishooper68 What ? really, im going to check it out right now as i mainly use Vst plugins these days could be fun. thanks man

  • @alphacode909 -- You're quite welcome sir! :-)

  • I want a synth like this so badly...

  • buenas, yo me he descargado algunos de estos sonidos por Internet. Hay un millón de ellos por ahí, y si tienes la paciencia de repasar los bancos encontrarás verdaderas joyas

  • depeche mode very good

  • What was that? I thought Roland D-50 was the Pad Master, but now you made me confused! Never thought M1could do such lush pads all that fat and dense! Sick synth, dude!

  • all i ever wanted all i ever need it is here in my arms... que maravilla joder

  • That Slave To The Rhythm sound at 06:16 is phenomenal.

  • Fab machine, I used to sell these at a music shop 22 years ago!

  • Where did you get your patches alphacode???

  • nice demo.good synth.you should try making some ambient music with it.m1 is made for ambient.

  • Awesome synth!

True Legend, i want one but hard to find here

  • @PRELUDA i have one :D

  • Can you use this instrument with Logic Pro? No USB right?

  • yes, get a midi interface and use plug that into your usb port. midi works better than standard usb anyways. you can use any midi samples from logic to play on the keyboard

  • MIDI cables

  • please the name patch of enjoy the silence is..?

  • @ratoneador nr3

  • for alphacode909... did you create these sounds or the korg M1 just has them?

  • all presets from the net
