Sorry - I just have another point. THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT THE DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA!! It's artificial, it triggers people, and it ruins people lives because insurance companies live by it. I met a lot of normal weight anorexics who were kicked out of ED centres because they didn't fit the required BMI. When are professionals going to do something about this screwed up system??!!??
About the atypical vs typical ED, in my experience I would switch in and out of loving and hating restrictive eating. Towards the end, before I went into treatment, I was aware that it was horrible. But when I started eating again, I went back into the honeymoon phase, and I could only think positive thoughts about the ED. That could be the case for these people. So I don't know if you can really say it's atypical vs typical...but you make a good point.
Wow. I totally agree with everything you've talked about in this one. Not many people have the guts to actually come out and say this stuff. We need more people to speak on "our" behalf like this. Thank you.
i look this video . It just soo completly true my dad knows i hav and ed and wt has he done nothing he has completly forgotten about it. Also some of the teachers know about it and they made me see the nurse for one meeting and wt does she say to me the next time i see her 'o your doin fine i don't think you need my help' wt is with that.
i agree! i told my mom that i have an ed and nothin has been done in the past month! the pastor at my church knows and my dad too. i think it's b/c im 5 ft 6 and 114lbs and im not thin enough to have a bad enough ed to do anything to my body. Ive told them im bulimic and it's a problem i cant live like this anymore and my emotions are out of control i dont know what to do that why i came to them, and if i did know what to do i would have done it along time ago! Love your Video!!!
hey. that was a really good rant!! :) it is soo true!! i have suffered an e.d for many yrs, and i found that doctors and nurses kept giving me excuses for me to not deal with the shit around my e.d. i like how u catorgarised the video's on here.
It's rare that I encounter an opinion on eating disorders so well articulated and related to my own experiences. When you discussed the "honeymoon stage" and how it is a fleeting high, I flinched - so spot on.
your videos are incredible. i especially love this one, i think bc it's on such a personal level. i have suffered from an ED for about 10 years now, and i am only almost 24. i've been from under 80lbs to over 230lbs in just the past 3/4 years. when i was tiny, everyone was worried. when i gained, everyone thought i was 'fine/better'. i'm at a healthy weight now, but have fully relapsed within the past few months. but, bc my weight is 'healthy' it's so hard to be taken seriously.
i totally agree with this. the system needs to be changed. i am sick of feeling "not sick enough" for treatment because i am of normal weight. it just perpetuates the disorder.

I totally agree with you in this video with anorexics being put in situations that are uncomfortable and overeaters being ignored
