The bridge was the HWY 20 bridge, The Welland Canal Authority had been in the process of making the bridges remote control, what happened here was the central control started lowering the bridge, the operator on the bridge attempted to overide and raise it, which was over-ridden by the central office and lowered, no seriouse physical injuries occurred, but people were affected by stress.
