  • Simon Mayor's version is really cool , keep it up...

  • lovely

  • Nice job! What key are you playing it in? I play tenor banjo and mando but I play everything in the first position.

  • thanks fredcrs, I appreciate your support.

  • I started with the mandolin about 10 months ago. Through a lot of hard work I can play at least a little of many styles, traditional, bluegrass, Irish, popular, but I really like the emotion that comes from The Irish music. you're version of this song is excellent, but I'm currently pulling my hair out trying to figure out all that you're doing. Do you know of a tab that closely represents your version? The ones that I'm finding are in the first postion only. You play very !!! well ...

  • Where can I find the TAB for this rendition? I can find some for The Butterfly, but they're all simlarly different from this rendition (high on the neck)

  • I think you can listen, it isnt hard to figure it out

  • @fredcrs Well, I know where it's starting from, and if I were more experienced, I guess likely I could figure it out right away. Haven't tried that hard yet. Cheers.

  • hum, I didnt mean to be rude. I play guitar for like 10 years and starting playing mandolin now. I'm really aganist tabs or anything like. I know its hard to listen and play, but it will really make u a better musician. And for me its much more funny.

    Cheers

  • @fredcrs oh, I didn't take it that way at all. It's all good. I just haven't learned where all the notes are yet.

  • Would anyone happen to have tabs for this?

  • wow.. That's awesome for half a year.. I've been playing for about 5 years and i'm about same standard >.> shameful on my part.

  • thats really good! i hope i can be as good as he is!

    p.s. good choice in song.

  • Very good! Nice job!

  • this is a great tune thanks so much for posting,,great job on playing it too

  • as a banjo player

i loved this version on mandolin

    well done

  • cooool...

dont no whether i liked his hair cut better than his playing...and I really liked his playing...

  • good style men. 5/5

  • how do i figure out how to play that?

  • Mel Bay's Irish Mandolin Playing: A Complete Guide by Philip John Berthoud has a mandolin tab/sheet music for the butterfly.

  • Well done, lad.

  • Sin thu fhein! good one ya! sounds great!

  • Fantastic! I've been learning the mandolin for approximately 4 months, and have been trying to track down tablature to this song that is similar to your version. No luck yet though. Is there any way you could send me the music/point me in the right direction? I would be eternally grateful. Your music is wonderful- keep sharing :)

  • How exactly do you read tablature? I started playing the violin before mandolin, so i can read violin music alright, but how do you read tablature?

  • There are heaps of good sites on how to read tablature. It took me about 10 minutes to learn the basics, honestly-- very easy. Just type 'how to read mandolin tablature' into google and you should get a million sites with free advice.

  • tableture has numbers on lines.... the line is which string you are on and the number is what fret you are on

  • They're tuned exactly the same O.o play it how you'd play it on a violin...

  • I love this! Very stylish.

  • sounds so folky. i love this.

  • woah cool!

  • Nice one neal, sounds good.

  • we have a unique antique mandolin on top of our cupboard at home

  • It just needed to be tuned better. Those double strings are tricky sometimes.
