  • 2nd half of my previous post. If someone could come up with a price guide that has a real value to what cards really sell for then maybe I would be interested checking it out but so far price guides mean nothing to me and when I go to card shows and somone pulls a guide I leave the table and dont buy becuase I think I am loosing and the seller/dealer is winning and feel like I got ripped off.

  • Great show, but I think price guides should be away with becuase no cards ever sell for price guide value plus it isnt the real value. I stopped buying price guides cause of the totally different value that that and ebay has and just go by ebay sale or I ask myself is that a price I want to pay and how badly do I want to own it.

  • preach on brother, preach on

  • you tell it doc

  • The DOC or BUST!

  • 5:50-6:00 amen doc!!!! 3-4-5 hundred for 5-7 cards! R u kiddin me, turns my stomach then you have 'opening day' type stuff 4 the 'kids' which the value of that stuff it might as well be free.

  • how come the beckett dude keeps studdering like he's making up stuff?

  • about that autograph thing, i've seen some ugly autos but i've never ever seen an ugly Michael Jordan auto, they all look the same.

  • doc you are the new ralph nader....a consumer advicate!!!

  • Stay tuned for more!

  • BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!!!!!

  • u rite doc...shame the card companies don't care anymore

  • longest vid on youtube but i love it

  • GO DOC! DOC FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the vid Doc and preach on Lagooner!!

  • beckett should not do box breaks unless they go randomly to hobby shops around the country.

and as far as sticker autos i think that for current players not so bad. but common if it is a retired player how hard is it to get them to sign in person.

  • I have to bring this up, the "witnesses" that over look the auto signatures are sometimes hobby owners that just send the cards out to the players. I know this for a fact because I have a friend that recently signed thousands upon thousands of autos for UD, in the privacy of his own home. He just had to return the sheets of stickers back to the hobby owner the next day. "Hey look, I got Adrian Petersons Roommates auto!" unreal, i give up

  • 48:00 Tracy is on his heals.... i am pretty disgruntled after watching this.... might be hard for me to put my hard earned money towards something thats getting tainted....

  • Preach on brother DOCTOR!

you hit it right on the head friend

    j

  • As for these loaded packs/boxes that get opened on air for the company/show that has a lot of views, its just shooting yourself in the foot...as nobody but a few will pull anything like that and that sowers the collectors..yes we can buy from the auction/trading sites instead of that risk of buying a box but we can only buy from those with enough trust in the product to pay the $300, $400 or even $500 a box for the chance of a 1/1 hit.

  • I have that Papelbon on card Auto and a Turkey White Huston Street on card Auto 1/25 that was a redemption and I like looking at them more then the Upper Deck Series one Derek Jeter sticker auto I pulled (and this is not a Redsox/Yankee thing as i have had pulls where the sticker has been half off and ones where the sticker has had bubbles or creases in it, you just dont get that with the on card autos, i say "If they cant sign on time then don't pay them!", they'll sign quick enough then !!!!!!

  • As an English dude (ok i can hear the boo's already), but as an english dude who came to this collecting only about 3 years ago (and I'm 40 years old), i went to 1 Redsox game and was hooked, and within a few weeks bought a few Bowman Heritage packs and pulled a Johnathan Papelbon Signs of greatness on card auto and it all started from there, i have bought boxes and even a couple of cases for my own and now have entered a few group case breaks I think it stinks that they go for sticker auto's

  • me and some of my family are goin to flordia, and my mom and dad said i could stop in new jersey and go to the backstop, can wait doc, save me a hot box!

  • (my previous comment continued)

I think people lose track of what that is sometimes and that is a big reason why they are so dissatisfied with the state of the hobby. I say find what you enjoy, like prospecting, collecting your favorite team, or just busting wax in general. Just my opinion.

  • Look, I understand where everyone is coming from and I don't like it either... However, the hobby has changed and everyone just needs to accept it and move on! We need to get our heads out of the past, move on, and accept the fact that CHANGE HAPPENS! Even though it has turned in to an industry, there are things you can do to treat it like a hobby instead of remeniscing about the past and complaining about what the companies are doing! (cont. in next post)

  • Are you for real?

  • Do you even have a job?

  • What does that have to do with what I said?

  • The consumer has every right to complain about what the companies are doing!

  • Look, I think that what the companies are doing is awful as well, and I have absolutely no problem with a little ranting. However, I think that there are things that we can do as collectors to make the hobby more fun for ourselves. I know my first love of cards came from prospecting. So what I do is not waste $ and time busting high-end products like exquisite, I buy what I enjoy as a collector. I do what I enjoy most about the hobby.

  • im stilling waiting for one of the companies to put a bob marley cut auto in their products.

  • Wow, who knew the Rip Master was so well-versed? I'd have a hard time following that!

  • lol

  • haahhahha and steroids

  • the stickers also give ud one more trick up their sleeves....these cards will never grade mint because they 80% of the autos dont fit on the sticker, thus making them incomplete...while acceptable by children collecting autos, these would be dismissed by a real autograph collector, antique appraier, or museum curator...

  • also, with clemens, ud was going to slowly release the 150,000 sticker autos they have over the next 20 years..now woth the steroids and losing favor in the baseball world and hobby, yhey will rid themselves of them...they will flood the market over the next five years to the point where the avg. clemens auto worth $45 todaywill be down to $17 in 10 years...just watch....

  • .second, its a lot easier and cheaper to have jeter sign one thousand stickers once a year, than have him sign 20 different cards 50 times each...also, if jeter'su dcontract expires, thats fine, as ud still has legal authority to sell the use the autos they have valid from the time the contract was good...

  • doc listen...they dont do stickers any more for a few reasons..or so they say....first off, they will do non-sticker autos but not for a year or two...inadvertently, the only " authentic" autos will be the ones that were touched, and this feeling will be spread throughout the hobby by beckett media and thus the disparity between any given players sticker auto versus toucvhed auto will increase 300% over what it is today..

  • come on..your around this all day every day......you know whats going on.....parallels.. fake jerseys,, damaged cards, error in stats......expiring redemption autos to prevent stockpiling of products...incomplete sticker autos....

the hobby has been over..i cant wait until the better business bureau and the u.s. ethical commissions get these fools on the fromt page..it will happen...what they are doinis wrong.....

  • upper deck and beckett are the biggest legal criminals....they dont put there money to into quality control to make sure that fellows 1/1 sandberg bat wasnt damaged, butspend it on a group of professional pyschologists with extensive backgrounds in addiction....they know how to explit your weakness...works for me..i can find their winning tickets in their products in packs and boxes at retail stores and then return them for a full refund....

  • EPIC VID!

  • great show this week, keep up the good work

  • Hey Doc, you are the man! I've spent a lot of money on blaster boxes but find the quality to be lacking. I've received many duplicates in 8 pack boxes and and many times receive nothing but base cards. For every $20 I spend on a blaster box, I probably will get a couple of dollars in resell value. These companies are raping us and it needs to stop.

  • DOC FOR PREZ!

  • The UD sayingit's a colation problem is BS THEY HAND PACK EXQUISITE THEIR CANNOT BE A COLATION PROBLEM. The employees makes the packs so they know what they sent to becket enough said go get them Doc

  • go dallas

  • doc, that was a brilliant speach. absolute great. you pretty much nailed it all perfectly

great show. kudos to you sir

  • Hackler keeps pushing "It's a hobby" while editing for a million dollar company

  • It was a Hobby that turned into an Industry

  • Go Giants

  • We hope so!

  • Great show doc, we have to rattle the cages of these animals at topps, UD anf the other card companies..

  • I totally agree about the stickers and the damaged cards that we're pulling from the packs, seems like every pack has cards that have chips on the edges or scratches and even touched corners. We pay big money for these boxes and expect to get mint cards...well undamaged by the manufacturer at least. I spend around $500 a week on cards which might not be alot for some people but it's a chunk out of my paycheque and I get alot of damaged cards which I can't re-sell.

  • Loved it DOC....loved it...watched the whole thing when I got home from work this evening.
