My parents taped this when it was first on, and like others, I watched it so many times. I was amazed at how much I remembered! The beginning was cut off our tape, so I missed the opening. My parents just wrote "Sesame Street Goes to the Museum" on the tape, and I never knew what the actual name of this special was.

According to Muppet Wiki, when Big Bird is on location and Caroll Spinney cannot get a video feed inside the costume, there is a hole to help him see. The necktie is used to cover the hole.

When this aired my mom taped it for us, when I was three. Not on beta or VHS (we had neither until I was much older) but on cassette so we could listen to it.

It is a thrill to find out what some of the actions are behind the sound effects or music.
