@cstoczyn Sure, just don't comment so much. o.o Do what I do, write down everything you want to say and put it into one comment when you finish watching the part.. Makes it easier and less spammy.
Love this! This was before Elmo became the focus of Seasme Street's fame. Back when Big Bird was the shit. I wonder how old Katy Perry was when this was made, probably wasn't born yet. Who knows?
My parents taped this when it was first on, and like others, I watched it so many times. I was amazed at how much I remembered! The beginning was cut off our tape, so I missed the opening. My parents just wrote "Sesame Street Goes to the Museum" on the tape, and I never knew what the actual name of this special was.
My cousin had this video, and she gave it to me when I was like 5 and I watched it and ever since then I had wanted to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and as luck would have it, my school's orchestra went on a trip to NYC over spring break and I finally got to go :D I think it's the best art museum ever!!
i have this movie on vhs from when i was little but it's slowly degrading in quality. i'm so glad someone has uploaded it! it's my most vivid childhood memory. <3 thank you so much for uploading it
i have this movie on vhs from when i was little but it's slowly degrading in quality. i'm so glad someone has uploaded it! it's my most vivid childhood memory. <3
I remember the music when they are searching for Big Bird, I have 5 years old, now I'm 30 and I remember all the speechs and all the music of this movie, specially the music when they look for Big Birdm it's incredible how the brain works>!!!
haha, this is great, I don't know how I stumbled onto this. I wasn't allowed to watch ANY TV growing up but for some reason my mom bought this for me on VHS. I probably saw it 100 times. Brings back lots of memories, thanks for posting it!
Just in case you want to know why Big Bird is wearing a necktie:
According to Muppet Wiki, when Big Bird is on location and Caroll Spinney cannot get a video feed inside the costume, there is a hole to help him see. The necktie is used to cover the hole.
OMG i havent seen this movie since i was in elementry school. we used to watch it in art class. Its my favorit movie. thank you sooo sooo much for posting!!!
they shoulda asked the museum for help. then maybe they'd find big bird more easy. Plus the security guard would'nt have to suffer the horrible fate of havin his mind fucked up
i remember watching a sesame street movie when i was like 3-5 yrs old (early 90's) Sesame street was like kidnapped and her friends were chasing her in a truck where she's caged. what's that movie???
I've searched for YEARS!!! I thought it was a memory my brain made up about Big Bird,lol..I can't believe I found it through Bing! I Love This..Almost in tears...this was being a kid!
I love the Metropolitan Museum of Art! And the MoMA and the Guggenheim and the Whitney and the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art and the various galleries all across NYC! NYC has got it all! (Or at least a lot.)
I think I love you right now. I used to ask everyone if they remembered this movie and no one did. I had started to think it was just a really vivid dream. It's great to know I wasn't crazy.
Oh my gosh! I haven't watched this in so long! Definitely one of my favorite videos as a child! I seriously haven't seen this since I was about five; this movie went out of print before I could get it. Thank you so much for posting this! This brings back so many happy memories. =]
I remember the Disney Channel airing this as well as a special from the Canadian Sesame Street entitled Basil Hears A Noise. Does this ring a bell for anyone else?
david looks like the Sesame Street pimp, rocking that gold chain and the Hawaiian shirt and everything... Prolly sold rocks behind Hoopers store to get by...
He actually did do a lot of cocaine in real life. He was pretty messed up, which led to a premature death about 20 years ago. So tragic. He was so talented and so good on Sesame Street.
OMG it cant be, I remember this video from when I was 8 years old. My mom recored this 4 me when I was little kid. R.I.P mommmy I still have the tape of this in my room.
now that i think about it, its alittle odd Jim didnt bring kermit to the museum. In fact i could see kermit taking Bob's spot. Bak then kermit was just as big a member of SS as all the other muppets. O well
HOLY CRAP god bless the internet. Thank you for sharing this. This was one of my favorite movies when I was little and I never thought I'd find it anywhere again. I remember crying at this, lol. And the Temple of Dendur remains one of my favorite places to visit.

When this aired my mom taped it for us, when I was three. Not on beta or VHS (we had neither until I was much older) but on cassette so we could listen to it.
It is a thrill to find out what some of the actions are behind the sound effects or music.
My mom is gone now, but the fact that she taped it for us... Now that is fresh in my mind again. Thank you.
holy crap! you must be born in the 80's and thus a 90's kid!? damn those beta max and laser discs i really miss them they're way more epic than dvds and vcds we have now
Wow, I remember leaning against the kitchen counter watching this on a little black and white screen the night it aired. I couldn't remember the name of this special, but I always remembered the little Egyptian boy (and his invisible cat) who just wanted to be a star. Literally.
