Amazing. I haven't heard this song in years but I sing it to myself regularly, when I'm walking or if I am feeling that mood. Your voice has gets better and better, almost unearthly but rooted deep. You are a living treasure.
Winter, kisses many with her inspiration. I find that the best tribute to pay is to let her hear the songs of old, remind her of a time where we were still kind to her. Your singing belongs in many movies, but more so, in many hearts.
Tim, the mind boggles at the thought of you on American Idol. Simon saying"nicely done, in a sort of a nineteenth century, Dylan-ish way. I'd like to see you lose the cap and smile a bit more, though."
Been a CD fan since 94. Keep up the good work. I did your version of Jersey City for a bunch of trad music purists at a retreat in Baltimore. Reaction was priceless.
Thanks! I'm not a big fan of the star system, but it might be interesting to sing this old stuff in that context. And I could use the money, as could we all probably...
This is one of those rare performances that seems to shatter the boundary between performer and listener. I follow the voice through every change of pitch; I break as it breaks and rise as it rises. The music moves up and down my spine.
Resonance--that's the word. It's what I aim for when I sing, and it's what I feel when I watch this.
yes, I have sung it under the name Uncle Sinner. I did a show in a little Winnipeg church that didn't mind my lack of faith. the pews were in the round and the acoustics were amazing--I stood up after the intermission and sung this song without a mic. it was a Good Voice Day and all my work went well. there's a picture of it on my myspace site.
my friend Kori Miyanishi (one-third of "Dyad")did a nice version of this song with harmonies, but this version of yours is my favourite.
That crackling sound---is it the icy river? the frozen ground? the air itself? ... Whatever it is, it's a stunning -- almost percussive -- element for the song.
yo tim - found this on a queens of the stone age search ?!! superb man, isnt winter the best! camped out on the north york moors the other night winter solstice near full moon vibe!
Dude! Did QotSA do a version? That'd be funny. I still wanna hear Lemmy sing "Amazing Grace." But yeah, winter rules- built an igloo today, plan to sing there tomorrow...

Thanks for the note. It's even better to do it yourself, as I can attest to by having done it myself.
