@tedmich Wayne Kramer and/or his roadie stole my beautiful Gibson Firebird guitar with three gold humbuckers at the Electric Circus in Suburban Detroit around 1975. I heard the roadie was a junkie who would steal anything. Man I miss that guitar. BTW Wayne Kramer is still around. Now doing music for TV as he is the Music supervisor for the Will Farell-produced EastBound and Down(hilarious) on HBO.

Everyone always says these guys invented punk or they were the first punk band, or the Ramones got inspiration from them and Iggy, but it's all bullshit. The Who were THE very first punk band, no if ands or buts about it!!! Every band that has ever called themselves punk has been a direct ripoff of The Who. Nirvana made that quite blatantly clear when they regularly smashed their instruments, and blatantly ripped off Townsends style of writing.
a white guy with an afro and a sparkle jacket... you are either insane or you have the 'ting'.... they are American, but have that British working class look of 'come an' 'ave some if you're a'rd enough'.... feel it baby, feel it...

Thank you for putting this stuff up. Like most people , I would imagine , I did'nt know they did anything other than "Kick out The Jams" on this Beat Club taping.....
But I still think it's"I'm searching for diamond rings and a Cadillac car"...Quien save?
I swear Rob Tyner wore the best ,,,hottest,,,pants ever. So lovely. And BROTHA' Wayne looks beautiful here too. Wow. They always amaze me. I havent seen this before. Thank you so much Fritz.
One of the greatest bands I ever saw live....in the early 70's...! and they still are one of my all time favorite bands up there with the kinks and the Ramones!
The original Ramblin' Rose is by Ted Taylor, longtime soul R&B vocalist. It was also released by another 60s garage band circa 1966. My guess is they got it from Ted Taylor as the vocal sounds like his.
My question is, what was the purpose for this here series? Beat Club was usually on a stage, with a live audience dancing and consisted of three songs (in the 60s anyway). Seems to be almost a whole concert in this live-in-the-studio series.
They had been using these guitars for awhile, Marshall stacks too, but the Orange amps are not part of their usual setup. They were the house amps for the BeatClub stage, they appear in every BC performance going back to mid-60s (look em up, killer performances by Small Faces, Creation, Spencer Davis, The Move & more). Also in a different MC5 BC performance from same period where they do a completely different (in every way) Kick Out The Jams to the one in this series.

they didnt want it studio produced. The soul of Kick Out The Jams remains on a stage set, not in a studio. Which you can hear if youve listened to the CD :)
I wasn't specifically talking about the Kick out the Jams release, I was talking about them as recording artist. They had two studio releases and because of poor production and promotion they were not commercial successes, even if they were good songs live. I know K O T J is a live recording, and I have listened to it, I own a copy, so your assumption was incorrect.
Can anyone tell me what guitar make Wayne is using here?

@openeyes691 Oh no I wasn't implying that this song was punk, I was just saying that they were a seminal influence on punk.

jerry lee lewis' version of this song from 1961/62pre-dates the Ted Taylor version.

It is shame that they couldn't find the right producer that could translate what they did live into the studio.
BuStFaCe 2 years ago
they didnt want it studio produced. The soul of Kick Out The Jams remains on a stage set, not in a studio. Which you can hear if youve listened to the CD :)
konkelberryfinn 2 years ago
I wasn't specifically talking about the Kick out the Jams release, I was talking about them as recording artist. They had two studio releases and because of poor production and promotion they were not commercial successes, even if they were good songs live. I know K O T J is a live recording, and I have listened to it, I own a copy, so your assumption was incorrect.

i wish people would stop calling people idiots on you tube its very tiresome all music is inspired by music that came before it , get over it!

Most bands who played Beat Club around this time blew everyone's minds; the sound of the recordings is just one thing...
