  • HE SHOULD NOT THROW CURVE BALLS AT AGE 10

  • A circle change is way more effective at this age. Don't see to many kids that throw a curve and not give it away before they even throw it. Good batters can see that curve before the pitch. Circle change is easy to pick in their hand and throw it the same as a fastball. Any kid at that age that throws a curve won't make it past hs. How many pitchers in the pro's came from the Little League WS. None. My 10 year old has been begging me to let him throw the curve. No Way. Circle and Cutter.

  • @mparmeter1 he throws a palm ball for his change. At this point we are just working on different pitches to see which ones he picks up on the best and can use effectively/consistently in a game. When the drop is on, it is lights out!!!!!!!!

  • Why is a ten year old throwing a curve ball? If he throws it wrong he will kill his arm and it is more like a gravity ball than anything

  • @anthonymorabito32 it's not like he throws it 24/7

  • well, I once baffled hitters with my fastball and change. But the opposing pitcher threw 65 and we won 12-0 because he just had a fastball

  • I'm saying that I don't worry about it much. Odds are he'll be lucky to make it past high school ball, if you look at the odds. Only thing I want to ensure is that he is having fun and working to get better. I'm not crazy enough to think I actually have any control over what happens or doesn't happen to his elbow. He could just as easy roll his 4-wheeler and break his arm or wreck his shoulder.

  • @osborneg1 My son's 10, plays 10u major in Texas. Pitchers have to have an effective off-speed pitch at that level to be effective or they get crushed, even if they throw 55 plus. They've seen 62 and will still rip it if all they throw is heat. I let him throw a "safety curve" where he points his index finger straight out so it keeps the wrist from rolling. But some new studies show that the curve actually produces no more stress than fastballs. Just stay away from sliders!

  • @dcraptors10u that is exactly what my son is throwing. he treats the drop the same way. Middle finger across the seam and index finger off the ball or straight across, which doesn't allow for added velocity, thus becoming change with some break. Biggest thing is it looks WAY different. Our 11 yr old all-star team actually faced a kid throwing close to 70mph in the state tourney this fall, but he had nothing else. Our team put 12 runs on him in 1 1/3 innings with 3 HR's. You have to change speed

  • @osborneg1 I agree with having fun but u r putting 2 much stress on that elbow at such a young age. If u talk about having fun ,it should not matter if he gives up 1 run or 20 in one game. After all this games mean nothing. He is not pitching to major leaguers or even high school.

  • @Landinomartes I agree in the long run none of this matters, but short term we are going to do what we can to remain competitive. The 4 seam and 2 seam will be the workhorse, but drop, curve and change will be used depending on what is working the best that day.

  • sorry Dr. Kremcheck

  • Hey keep throwing those, hope u save enought money 4 his surgery

  • @Landinomartes Are you saying that everyone that throws a curve has surgery?

  • @osborneg1 Not everyone becuase most people are smart with their kids......... Throwing curves before highschool will ruin your arm.

  • @Landinomartes All I'm saying at 10 yrs. there is no need to put that much strees on the elbow. Go to you tube and click on danger of curveball on youth or check Dr Kresnick and see 4 yourself .4 all we know your son will be great and have no elbow and arm problems but the odds r stack against him if he keeps throwing a curveball at such ayoung age. Anyway if his fastball is good enought should be getting batters out with it. Who is he trowing 2 major leaguers?

  • Iwanna marry myself

  • @bjules954 sorry to hear about elbow surgery, hopefully everyone that throws curves at a young age isn't destined for elbow surgery

  • i would smack that damn 55 mph fastball to damn ohio

  • You call that a curve ball ive been throwing a better one since i was 9 and throw a 65 mph fast ball and im only 12 so shut up

  • been through my fare share of arm troubles, i threw slightly harder though at age 10. I am a college pitcher now average 83-85 on fastball, started throwing curveball at a young age as well, went through some arm trouble but not too bad(took a year off.) If anything, he will be great, reminds me of myself. would recommend him doing some physical therapy exercises on his arm though with light weight 5 lbs is enough, build arm strength and you'll have no problem.

  • 55mph my ass...i would smack that ball 2ice the field

  • sorry no curve buddy just a mediocre drop adapt both types of curves and work on it u might improve some

  • two words..... Tommy John

  • The funny part is I've thrown a curve since I was 9. I mean I used to throw it alot maby 40 percent of the time. Now im a sophomore in Highschool and I pitch varesty and have no arm promblems. If anything it preserved my arm. Throwing a fastball is defiantly more taxing then a looping curve thekids not throwing a slider where u really need to break ur wrist to throw it.

  • @zspero5404 Less baseball, more english please

  • @zspero5404 The only thing it preserved is your inability to spell big boy words..rofl.

  • that kids not throwing a curve hes throwing rainbows....+ if he is his arms not gunna be good

  • Keep on throwing that curve, he won't have an arm by age 12.

  • This poor kid has the double whammy, guided by irresponsible parents as well as coaches. He's surrounded by idiots who allow him to throw junk before his arm is even close to being mature. He looks like a decent athlete, maybe he can be a position player later in HS. No chance his arm holds up snapping curves at 10.

Oh, the 2nd batter was safe... got jobbed.

  • you really call that a curve? kid throws slow enough it dont curve it just drops

  • Good video,,,hes doing good. Tell Him to keep it up and he WILL make it through highschool ball..trust me im in it

  • do not let him throw curveballs he will not make it to highschool at this rate he is way to young

  • change,curve,fastball....................he's ten years old. You're overloading him.Best to just focus on the basic fundamentals at this age.

  • Please for the sake of his arm, DONT CALL HIM CURVEBALLS

  • The 12-6 curve also called the little league curve is not like the true curve.

  • lol its a sinker cause hes only 10 its fine its jjust funny

  • He should NEVER be throwing curve balls if he wants to play college or professional ball. He will throw his arm out. Burt Bleyloeven (Major League HOF Pitcher) recommends throwing curves only after about 13 years old. Who cares about a little glory in Little League if it costs you your future down the road. It's you as a parent who should be monitoring this!

  • looks more like a tiny sinker but still good

  • I learned my curve ball at 13 and I am currently 13, I can throw from 50-70 mph, this kid is 10, his arm will waste if he keeps playing like this, make him stop throwing these curve and let him stick with a fast ball and change up. both aren't harmful at all unless you have bad mechanics.

  • Bad coach shouldn't throw a curve at 10

  • Nice pitching. As long as then kid doesn't tork out his arm by throwing too much or too hard he should be fine.

  • BAD COACHING, not parenting. He's throwing 4 out of 5 curve balls when his coach should be calling the pitches at that age. Circle changes all day long, big shifter.

  • Appreciate all the comments both good and bad. Just not enough time to answer all. Keep them coming thought and stay tuned for new videos coming ASAP.

  • Why would you teach a kid a curveball at that age, your going to screw up his elbow...

  • its called a knee buckler my bad didnt c the whole vid

  • its called a knee buckler and it wasnt

  • Also, put your kid into a weightlifting program. That's another one of those wide spread myths that are not true. Lay off the protein shakes for now, he should get enough protein just from his normal nutrition.

Focus mostly on legs for now, leg strength is the building block for success for any sport. You may want to consider going to a gym and getting a personal trainer to make sure that your kid is doing all the lifts correctly, so he don't injure himself.

  • The only reason a kid would need to get Tommy John surgery is if he is throwing the curve incorrectly. You're not supposed to throw the ball with the flick of your wrist, Just let it roll off your index finger, it produces roughly the same spin, but doesn't screw you over. Then again, if you don't want to risk it, just go with a change up. A good change up will definitely fool any little kid.

  • ur so stupid letting ur kid throw a curveball at the age of 10 hes going 2 KILL his arm

  • @UnworthyH3RO Curve balls hurt the arm by the snapping motion on the wrist on the pitch delivery, not if its side arm or not, thats what causes the tendons to be over strained and rupture and you need Tommy John surgery to fix it. If you throw a curve at a young age it doesn't let the tendon grow properly and makes it weak at an older age when you throw hard enough to get it to snap. If the kid wants to throw off speed, a good change is the greatest pitch for him. Same arm action as a fastball.

  • Who is this Tommy John guy everyone keeps bringing up? :)

(Update 8-23-11) - My son and his team just finished playing in the Little League South East Regional for 11 yr olds in Greenville, NC. They finished second, losing 6-3 to North Carolina. They led 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning 3 outs away from the championship and our pitcher was pitching a perfect game. Tough loss, but it was the first year of competing in Little League, hoping for one more win next year and Williamsport.

  • @osborneg1 no offence but im being brutally honest, this team would get absoloutely demolished in llws, they would not stand a chance

  • @gamereviewsfully this video isn't from the all-star team, this is the rec team over a year ago.

  • @osborneg1 Sarcastic?

  • @osborneg1 tommy john surgery is when you need surgery on your elbow because of wrong mechanics once my elbow started to hurt like that i went to physical therapy and they fixed it if i wouldnt have gone i would of thrown my arm out

  • im 13 and my coaches and parents only let me throw cruveballs at certian points of a game. Its Dangerous at 12-13 Let alone 10 Really ?

  • curveballs when thrown properly are less strenuous on the arm than a fastball. However that is when referring to adults. I still think children should only be pitching fastball and change ups. Cause chances are a kid doesn't throw a proper curveball.

  • i got 2 words "Tommy John"

  • why do parents say nasty pitch when they are bearly 10 year olds its called a normal curveball why do people try to make it look like its the big deal

  • thats not a curve

  • @creekerwalker uhhhhhhhhhh............OK?

  • @osborneg1 what it is is a slow pitcher

  • I grew up throwing junk from the first year the players not the coaches pitched...never hurt my arm, I played in college and never lost a thing or had any problems....they have pitch counts to protect these kids now

  • yall are terrible parents. this kid will not make it through high school.

  • @trojanball25 not sure what you mean by terrible parents and not making it through high school. Really.....you get all that from a 3:42 video. You are amazing. Please tell everyone when the world is going to end. :)

  • @osborneg1 he means that if you teach your kid how to throw a curve when their ten hes gonna blow out his arm by the time hes in high school. therefore your terrible parents :]

  • @picturedude1st So we are good parents if we allow him to just throw fastballs only........but the curveball makes us bad parents??????? TI'm not sure that is the best way to gauge if someone is a good parent or not

  • @picturedude1st So.......no curveball =GOOD PARENT..........curveball = BAD PARENT?????? Just to make sure I'm clear on this. Would I be a better parent if I were a dead beat dad who was never around to teach him how to throw the curve. Funny

  • @osborneg1 the kids arm is gonna fall off by the time hes 13 you dumb fuck

  • @trojanball25 not sure what you mean by terrible parents and not making it through high school. Really.....you get all that from a 3:42 video. You are amazing. Please tell everyone when the world is going to end. Funny

  • @osborneg1 hes sying his arms gunna get jacked from throwing curves you fucking ardtard

  • 3 words.......... dolphin, necklace, pencil

  • everybody is right your not supposed to throw a curve untill you are atleast 14 or 15 that kid will not pitch in highschool and will have to have tommy john surgery his parents are morons

  • this is about 46 mph, not 55

  • there was actually a medical study conducted over the last 10 years about kids throwing curveballs. they really found out that curveballs aren't bad for the kids' arms but it's the over usage of kids' arms that's bad for them. like throwing 80 or more pitches per game multiple times a week!

  • i through a way better curve and im 10

  • Lol I can't wait til he breaks his arm

  • Ok Mom and Dad....Start shopping around for a good specialist to rebuild that kids elbow. Are you real baseball fans?....then get the boy to throw a stinging fastball. Put the junk away until he is a couple years older.

  • Two words..... Tommy John

  • I hope he does well through his shoulder surgery before age 14

  • Are u kidding me? my curve drops 2 feet and curves 3 feet! This drops 1 foot and curves maybe 3 inches

  • @codbeast54 He is also 10

  • O.o Not trying to hate but he playing againt 6 year olds.

  • @90123acey who cares what you can pitch and what you play

  • 10 year olds should never be taught to throw a curveball. this is what horrible parenting mixed with high aspirations. when his elbow falls off at 15 years old and he cant play sports ever again blame yourself

  • I will see him five years later with tommy john surgery.

  • why would he throw curveballs at tenyears old

  • by highschool his career is fucked. 10 nd throwing curveballs

  • By highschool his baseball career will be done im 13 throwing 70 but i never do a curve ball and i workout alot

  • who cares

  • if thats 55 then i throw at least 90

  • no offense my curve drops 10 inches and thats pretty good for a 13 yr old

  • love that tommy john pitch

  • this kid gonna destroy his arm at age 10 i pitched 62

  • you suck

  • Why the fuck is a kid throwing a curve at 10 years old?? He's going to need tommy john surgery before he's done high school! At that age it will ruin a developing arm, and can cause bad mechanics as well. I mean i'm not trying to be rude or a dick and am not telling you what to do, I'm just saying that so bad for the kids arm at that age.

  • @Burnsy159 i agree

  • @Burnsy159 if he throws it right he wont hurt his arm, but if he throws side arm or a slider then he will hurt his arm

  • @Burnsy159 Not true. A real curveball has no pronation or rotation of the wrist. The dogshit curveballs little league coaches teach do that.

  • whats even more nasty is how he is gonna blow his arm out by freshman year in high school. i hope you are happy about that.

  • who teaches a 10 year old to throw a curve are they fucking out of their minds just flat out terrible parenting

  • @ryanpanthers13 it's not like he throws every play

  • since when can 10 year olds throw almost 60 50 is reality not 60 cuz im 13 and i pitch and throw 60 my brother who just turned 11 can barely throw 50 but pounds the mit

  • I don't understand why this parent is praising this kid so much. I'll admit he has talent, but your gonna give him the idea that he's God's gift to baseball (which no one is) and he won't work hard. Stop pussying your kid

  • OH, and changeups are a much better pitch to learn at this age. Its a somewhat tough pitch to learn so throwing it for all these extra years will give him a very good one when he gets older. Curves will just ruin his arm in a few years. I didn't learn a curveball until my freshman year when I was 15. My changeup had worked as a great alternative since I was 9.

  • Why is the centerfielder playing shortstop?

  • Kids 10 should not be throwing curves. Change up fine, curve, no. I don't care if you think he is throwing it correctly or not. Good idea if you want to have a 16 year old washed up pitcher...

  • thats terrible for his arm. by the time hes in high school he'll need tommy john's

  • Kid on youtube: Yup im 10 throw a 75 mph curve and 80 mph fast ball

Reality: Throws a 50 mph fastball

  • i used to be a pretty good pitcher when i was 12, but shot my arm from curves and it ruined all my chances of pitching. im 16 today and i cant play 100% because my arm is still shot =/

  • your an idiot congrats your 10 year old can throw a curve hes going to ruin his arm hes not going anywhere bad parenting

  • at this age, i would stick to a change up, if you can perfect it, its an effective pitch

  • HES GONNA MESS HIS ARM UP

  • IM 11 YEARS OLD AND I THROW 66 TOP SPEED THATS ALL U GOT

  • @aalapuna11 who cares how fast you can pitch

  • this guy is my best friend and his arm isn't gonna fall off any time soon

  • the curve is a slow fastball and that is so slow fastball

  • @baseball6694 A change up is a slow fast ball -_-

  • he should not be throwin a curveball he is going 2 mess up his arm then lets see if hr can throw 55 miles per hour

  • say byebye to your arm kiddo your not suppost to throw a curve until like 16 it ruins your arm hes going no where

  • Give me proof thats its 55 mph??

  • he is gonna hurt his arm

  • Wow. That kid at first was safe by a mile.

  • id take that curveball over the fence

  • No kid under 14-15 should start throwing a curve ball until they have masters a good fastball and a change up and can locate them consistently

  • Lol bro. DONT THROW A FREAKING CURVE LOL I was 9 years old throwing 60-70 now im 12 throwing 70-75 I still dont throw a curve. I throw a slider. You just throw it like a football.

  • there was a 12 year old last year who could throw well over 65 mph. of course, he was what everyone called "'roid rager" lol

  • The parents of this kid should be shot for letting the coach fuck up this kids arm. I'm sure his dad is living through his kid because he was a failure as an athlete, just as he is now a failure as a "dad". Hey dad, go fuck yourself...

  • When i was 10 i was pitching 65-67 fastball 59 changeup 63 Curveball and it broke really low

  • 1. he's not throwing 55

    2. that looks more like a lob and he shouldnt throw a curveball when he's 10 anyways

  • not a curve, have u considered maybe it was a LOB LOL NICE TRY

  • lol.. curve... how about ball rainbows because he pitches slow. He was safe at 1st because pitcher fields as slow as he pitches

  • lol.. curve... how about ball rainbows because he pitches slow. He was safe at 1st because pitcher fields as slow as he pitches.....

  • how was he out at first?

  • safe at 1

  • From a former college pitcher....NO CURVE BALLS UNTIL AGE 15!!!

  • teach him to throw a cutter, it can show similarities to a curve without the risk of hurting his arm.

  • @DDuke4165 thats what i throw it funny because the other team starts to yell watch out for his curveball

  • 9 and 10 year olds should not be throwing curveballs, you'll ruin his arm for the rest of his carrer, thats terrible coaching and/or parenting!

  • allowing a 10 yearold to throw a curve is horrible parenting

  • ERROR at 1:57

  • ok if he is ten he isnt throwing a curve is prob. a slip or 12 to 6 which both dont hurt your arm if you throw them right

    ]

  • i hear more rednecks then nascar

  • the coach of this team is obviously worried more about his 10 year old travel team winning a game then this kids future. come on now

  • god i would have hitting practice of this kid. Your son pitches real good for 10 but i would crush is curve and his fastball

  • this kid sucks my balls every night before bed

  • Kids should not be throwing a CB before 14 yrs old. Try learning a knuckle curve as an off speed pitch before then - works great and it same arm action as a fastball! Remember kiddies - fastball is KING! Learn how to throw one before anything other pitch.

  • yeah we dont need a fucking commentary dad!

  • Congrats to the overbearing parents to parade their child on youtube. You realize that a young child throwing this type of pitch will be likely to suffer from terrible injuries as he gets older? But, you don't care, as long as he's doing well in these little league games you can brag to your friends. 6-8 years from now he won't be able to throw, kiss baseball goodbye.

  • Stop throwing curve balls, stick to the fast ball. Your to young for anything else if you want to continue pitching in the future and save your arm for when it matters

  • im 13 and i just started throwing a curve but i dont throw more than 15 a game because i like my arm

  • 10 year old throwing a curve? ur just another dad that didn't have any carrer so u have ur son throw a curveball at 10!? everyone will remember you for hurting your sons carrer! he will never pitch highschool throwing that pitch already!

  • so the stupid is proud a 10 years old is throwing curve at 10?lmao at this uneducated dummy. You dont start throwing curve till you close to 14 unless you want to kill this kids career. His mechanics are good

  • his amazing ! keep it up

  • This kids arm is gone in 3 uears i bet

  • if i were you id stay away from the curveball it would be a shame to see him blow his arm out at that age

  • 55 my ass

  • he really shouldnt be throwing a lot of curves but if your just warming up or throwing with him let him throw like 5 curves which would let him develop it instead of messing up something in his elbow.

  • Im calling it.. Tommy john surgery by the age of 14

  • are you people crazy??? my team went to the Cal Ripken league world series in California when i was ten and i was throwing 65 and so was everybody else we faced and a lot of pitchers along the way in regionals and sectionals so what are you talking about throwing 55 at 10 is AMAZING?

  • @tristan13245 where do you see anyone say that it is AMAZING?

  • @tristan13245 im pretty sure your liening you didnt throw 65 at 10 fat ass

  • @tristan13245 Shut up troll

  • @tristan13245 10 year olds don't pitch 65 sorry.

  • @tristan13245 sorry but no ten year old throws 65mph......

  • @tristan13245 ok get this clear to ur head theres no real world series for kids its just tournaments called world series

  • @tristan13245 You're a dumb ass the Cal Ripken WS is in Maryland.
