  • Rich Perry is like Thelonious Monk on the tenor saxophone.

  • Rich Perry 6/4 over 4/4 maybe? I'm a schmuck yes,and he's great!

  • What is Rich Perry doing,is he imposing 7/4 over 4/4?He generates some hip tension slipping between 4/4 and whatever is going through his head, what a cool solo,he is so damn good! Also what piece is he playing an FL?It doesn't look or sound like his normal Selmer SS.

  • Man, that's roastin'. Yikes!!!

  • PLEASE .... more recordings of this Killer Band ... John !!!!

  • fantastic charts and playing

  • Piano is absolutely delightful with block chords of composite nature

  • Terrific big band arrangement and solos !

  • perry makes me giggle : ) he's killin

  • Rich's solo on this tune is probably the coolest, hippest thing I've ever heard.

  • @HateOnYourButt Couldn't agree more, man. The way he sets up the changes at 5:10 kills me every. single. time.

  • rich perry is so fucking good

    just sayin

  • Scott sounds as good to me as anyone playing today or yesterday on trumpet. Lots of history... great time...some very modern moves in a non-affected way. He's not forcing it to happen...i appreciate that!!

  • this is a really sweet piece, i love the chord changes and all the weird interlocking parts. these people are mad talented.

  • GREAT!!! Thanks for posting!

  • Greeat arrangement but, I was so hoping John was going to solo, ahh well, much applauded!

  • Great Chart.I have Woodies band playing this arr. on their album :50th Anniversary Tour.

    Thanks for posting

  • Scott sounded great as a freshman at Indiana University. I had the pleasure of playing in David Baker's band with him and I even helped him get his first apartment in NYC. Some trivia for you, Scott is from Denver, along with Greg Gisbert. They're basically the same age and both amazing players!

  • I LOVE Scott's playing ; ).. The band sounds GREAT ( as usual )

  • great band!

  • wendholdt is killin man!

  • What a great band, best I have heard in a while.

  • Dude Wendholt sounds like Lee at certain moments. Soulful, none the less

  • Damn Scott Wendholt is so killin. I met him at the Vanguard and he was tearin it up there too

  • I don't think he plays rotary anymore. But you are right, he is the man

  • that's a rotary flugel.

  • @kdfan its an rotary flugelhorn ;)

  • @kdfan It looks and sounds more like a rotary valve FLUGEL HORN(Yamaha makes them ,too)

  • @kdfan looks more like a rot flugel, see The Habana NY, thats maybe a rot trumpet

  • John Riley is just incredible

  • Scott Wendholt sounds great too. Is that Charles Pillow?

  • Yes that is Charles Pillow.

  • Am I mistaken or is that Joe Alessi playing bass trombone?

  • No, it is George Flynn.

  • Best big band I've heard.
