I'm gonna go out on a limb here and be the metalhead that I am and suggest that this would be better without the sax (at least I would like it more). That's mainly because I hate sax. Maybe they could just bring the guitars out more.
@jacosmith86 you must be a metalhead ,, [haha] , if you take the sax out , it will be out of balance , this is the best fusion i have ever heard , im so over dream theater and all the other similar bands , they are all so YESTERDAY , this band has the perfect interesting balance of NONTESTERONEMUSICIANS ,, the sax is an awsome addition to fusion , no one here over plays as such , so your ears get a better blend of the interesting !! , the time signature of this song is in what/4 !!! love it

Und die perfekte Symbiose zwischen Jazz und Metal stellen Meshuggah nun wirklich nicht dar (Jazz-Harmoniken und überhaupt nennenswerte Harmoniken fehlen dort fast gänzlich, die Band zeichnet sich lediglich durch vertrakten Rhythm aus)

I'm jazz musician. Jazz = improvization. This music (in the video) is a very very "composed" music from the first note to last. This is why it's not jazz.
of course, you're absolutely right. But this is only one (very short by comparison) song arranged for a german tv-show. Usually all of their songs feature lengthy improvisational parts, so they're still a "Jazz Metal" Band (IF you want to put a label on it at all)
You guys kick ass. This is exactly the sound I've been looking for to incorporate into my sax playing for a long time now. I've already got a synth wah and a DD7 pedal I've been messing with. Next project is the Boss Metalcore pedal
