  • infectious hooks and massive fat grooves, ace band

  • Amazing bass groove by Mark King. My favourite all time group to date since the 80s

  • I was there. The musicianship of this band is just ridiculous. Love these guys.

  • Coool.Dude from that TV show Monk on keyboards.

  • bravo c Top puissant.

  • there isnt anyone much better them then in the day still good now

  • Love the groove at 1:17

  • Great sound on this recording. Thanks

  • I have not left any comment on this video Anthony, senility is becoming you!

  • This is my brother on the percussion, I am impressed!

  • my brother kwaku on percussion i'me so proud of him & he doesent know seen this vid before anyone else & i think he must be black belt at shotokan karate by now go on reggie!

  • If that is your brother, could you tell me if he's playing on this year's tour? He really improved the band dynamic two year's ago.

  • i havent spoke to him for a while so i'me not sure, he does alot of session work but if the works there i'me sure he will do it. he has also played with the stereo mc's on the deep down & dirty tour, sarah jane morris, charles & eddy to name a few check them out

  • Yeah I will, I hope he does come, the band havn't haven't had a percussionist since 1983! Are you a fan of Level 42 then?

  • yeah there ok not really my kind of thing but there is no disputing that mr king is the king of the bass i did actually buy one of their singles back in the 80's looking for linda i think it was called theres loads of stuff on him if you google kwaku dzidzornu

  • Indeed, though I don't think they ever recorded a song called looking for linda lol :D

  • sorry my mistake it was hue & cry easy mistake to make sounds abit like level 42 i'me going senile oh and my sister must have left the last comment under my log in i'me not that senile yet lol

  • that would have no cool style. i like this, it's funk going into disco

  • Imagine a collaboration with Sting, Mark Knopfler and Mark King!

  • For sure....that would be awesome to see!!!!

  • I've been a huge fan for over 20 years, but what dvd is this ? I have Live at Wembley, and Reading 2001. ??? Thanks

  • The absolute best funkers ever without a showman like Mr J. Brown. I wonder why Miles Davis didn't catch up whith Mark in the 80's?

  • The main reason Mark likes the Status Kingbass that he and Rob Green created was because Mark wanted a smaller bass as he felt most basses are just too big. He also liked the string spacing on his Alembics that he copied it to the Kingbass. Mark doesn't have a problem affording one these days but as for the rest of us, Status has always been expensive to have one built and Alembic Mark King Models are extremely expensive....around $7,000 USD!. There's always Ebay I guess.

  • I like the guitar sound. It fits better than the Strat he always plays

  • This is a great performance of the first hit off L42's first full album. A tribute to the musicians that it is so tight. And good to see Mark's longtime partner Mike Lindup back in the fold. Though the band is always first-class (especially brilliant Gary Husband), it is reassuring to see/hear Mr Lindup.

  • just as good as the first time i saw them in 1986 at the hammersmith odeon london, f#####g graet

  • Okay morgan .. i will get around to ordering the DVD i promise ... I personally think he sounds great playing any bass .. but im easy to please as long as its Mark Playing it rofl ! :-)

  • My girlfriend just bought this for me online. I'm soooo excited for it. More excited than I've been for something in a long time. I can't wait. Just a few weeks, hopefully?

  • Yeah, get rid of that bass, I will take it off your hands Mark!! I have this video, love it!!! The only thing I dont really like is the excessive digital delay added to Marks solo. Oh well, how many bass solo's can you do in a lifetime before you just dont want to do it anymore, must feel a little too cliche. I so respect the feel he has for both his singing and playing, what a talent, WOW

  • Great stuff! Mark - you have to get rid of that bass - bring back the JD or the Alembic - so much better!

  • That'll be the day if he ever plays his Jaydee again. I think he just retired from playing them. The only problem with a Jaydee (which I also own one) is that it requires frequent truss rod adjustments. If only John Diggins would have used twin graphite rods on both sides of the truss rod to tighten the neck up and make it stiffer. The Jaydee has it's signature sound all on it's own and that is what makes it special.

  • Oh right, that's makes sense. I had a Jaydee signature model too a few years ago and I was always misitified as to why I could never get that same fantastic tone. Now I think I know why - truss rods adjustments!

  • The truss rod won't effect the tone......just the action.

  • No other way to describe this, yes, AWESOME. So happy in knowing these guys are making a comeback, (not that they were ever gone, in my eyes at least). Great one for sure, thanks for sharing.

  • this is JUST awesome.

  • This is looking much better than the 2001 DVD.

  • which dvd is that pads

  • the 2001 one is the live at reading dvd - those vids on youtube of them playing with a blue background at the venue are from it. :P

  • love it mr king ha ha
