  • what is this from, a show or somthing?

  • a lot of this stuff is rather out of date or inaccurate...

    -current Brown senior

  • is this an episode from a show? if so what show was it from?

    great vid

  • Brown is my absolute dream school. I'm currently in my junior year of high school and I'm taking 8 extra classes in order to boost my GPA. I'm in SAT and ACT prep 5 days a week and I'm also founding 2 student organizations and working part time. I'm not saying this to brag, I'm saying this to motivate y'all. I slacked off very, very badly my first 2 years but I'm determined to get in. Don't do what I did!

Congrats to all that got in! Hopefully I'll be in that spot one day too! GO BROWN!! :)

  • 17%! This was ages ago... Its about 11% now

  • Any other reviews like this?

  • 1 to 1 guy girl ratio ?! That's scary. University of central Arkansas is probably 7:1 .

  • GAHHH this school is so tight

  • What video series is this? where can I find more reviews for different schools?

  • like omy gosh brown is so interacial... brown is so diverse.... lmao 5:04 it's 51% white ... I've lived in new york city my whole life and visted Syracuse university just a few months ago which has similar stats... WOW that is not diverse.. you can count the number of white people on the tips of your fingers in my school and there are like who knows how many different ethnicities there.

ah but brown you are still in my top 4 lol

  • I'm 17 from England and my ambition is to Attend Brown University.

  • extremely bad resolution

  • brown is the color of poop...

  • Damn it! I can't watch this anymore...I'm about to cry...!

  • @FindingSecretGarden

Hmmm, Many international students I knew at Brown had access to pretty substantial stipends/need-based scholarships. I am sure if money is the only obstacle you can work something out with them or, as is the case with most of us, take on a little debt :)

  • @tinderbox1 thanks! :)

  • I wish I could go to study to Brown University, It would be awsome to study egyptology. My favorite author Jeffrey Eugenides graduated from there, the only problem is that I live in Finland and I dont have the money! really stupid... :(

  • you should attend brown just to see emma watson

  • go to brown it's awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • great video! i'm looking at brown in a whole new light now- and my test scores in that range so i think im gnna apply there. possibly early decision. this just fits me perfectly

  • I can't wait to apply here; it'd be so easy if I got accepted, seeing as my entire family already lives in Rhode Island :{D

  • I'll attend Summer@Brown. :D

  • If it's from Europe it's not important

  • You have to go to Brown because you're smart and you WANT to go to Brown and work hard. You can't spend all that money on tuition, and do all that work, just to go, stalk Emma Watson, and drop out!! I love Emma Watson and am a huge fan, but I respect her privacy, and I'm choose a college because I want to go there.

  • Hahaha ben is introduced 3 times. Hmmm Emma watson=$ love her.. She said she was goin to do history, look at the end, most peeps r goin history! How weird..

  • The figure at 9:02 about 2x too large now :P

  • Just got accepted to here :D

  • @thehakkster I truly congradulate you and wish you the best there one of the finest institutions in the world, I hope that in a years time I too can be accepted there I think the campus is wonderful, the city is wonderful, and the way of life there is also wonderful. You will for sure have a intense 4 years filled with much academic growth and maturity and be on the right track to acomplish whatever you want to in this world. Once again nice job getting in

  • @dduble07 Thanks for the kind wishes! I wish you the best of luck in your (future) admissions process, but just remember that a college doesn't make you - you make the college. Anyway, good luck on getting in (and thanks again)!

  • @thehakkster congratz!!!!

  • @thehakkster HOW COOL>< i'm applying to Brown this year. Any tips? :)

  • @jazziemine1 Be yourself.

  • @thehakkster congradulations for getting accepted

  • I visited Brown over spring break and fell completely in love with it... Really a shame so many people are applying now that Emma Watson is there... So much less of a shot... Dream school right there.

  • has anyone elsed notice that before Emma Watson came to Brown the admissions rate was 13% and right after the admissions dropped to 9% becasue about 10 thousand extra people applied lmao.

  • Huh? doh i dunno but i tink u kIds make the case for bring back the Draft; or englkish as a second language for native speakers...lol.

  • Hey. You are oh so lucky. I'm a 9th grade drop out. Lucky to get accepted and graduate S.D.S.U. decades ago. I'm stoked, finally been able to navigate and download all the materials from your Professor Peter Scharf's Sanskrit Library. Working through His Sanskrit Book about Rama. It's a Scorcher; however its getting done- highly Educational. Is Your Library as noisy and generally rude as it is here at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo? Can't believe it- Inmates run the Asylum. It's a Public School.

  • simply awesome :)

  • For about a while I just wanted to apply to Brown University just to see Emma Watson, but upon research about the University itself ... I LOVE IT. I love the idea of how laid back, and chill the school is. And how flexible it is when it comes to choosing and changing your major. Brown University is where I can actually picture myself studying at for the next four years of my life. And plus Emma Watson graduates the year I graduate High School 2013. LOL

  • @DarrenPascua Brown is not really laid back at all.

  • i'm definitely applying to brown next year!!

does anyone know what the weather is like at brown? if i live in california right now, am i gonna not be able to handle the cold??

  • @YouAteMyNachos Plenty of Californians attend Brown, so you will probably be able to handle the weather. For specifics, August/September can be hot, October and November are comfortable, and December can be cool or cold at times. The main cold months are Jan. and Feb. which can be anywhere from the 30's to as low as the 10's or colder. Just buy some warm coats. Once march comes, the weather starts to warm up again. Don't let the cold deter you from applying anywhere! :) (+ there's snow!)

  • @YouAteMyNachos If you should happen to get accepted; I'll know it is the end of America as we know it. You don't need Brown University; you need remedial English- better yet, do something useful join the Army.

  • @39651able ....would you kindly explain why I need remedial english? nice misuse of semi-colons; maybe you should attempt to learn how to use them correctly. also, you are an asshole for implying that stupid people should join the army.

that is all i have to say to you.

  • @ BlacksAreBeautiful , You are not serious , aren't you?!

  • @zeeeezx Of course I'm serious. I have never heard of her.

  • who the hell is Emma Watson?

  • @BlacksAreBeautiful see portrayed the character of Hermione Granger (from J.K Rowling's Harry Potter series) in all 7 movie adaptions.

  • @HeartShapeGlasses007 Ahhh....no wonder I have never heard of her!

  • Emma Watson increased Brown's popularity like 200 hundred times up. The rector will be fucking happy.

  • I really hope I get in!

  • I'm applying Early Decision next year (Class of 2016)! I'm super nervous, but if I get accepted, it will be the happiest day of my life. Lol :) I love Brown.

  • To the dumbasses posting about Emma Watson: If anyone is actually applying to Brown for that reason, theyre too shallow to be thinking of Brown, an Ivy League, or a highly selective school in general. I welcome their applications, because theirs will just make mine look even better. And posting that you shouldn't apply for that sole reason on youtube doesn't justifying the fact that that's why you applied.

  • "Hooking up is fun and it's fairly easy to do if you want to do it." lol wtf.

  • Diversity is off the hook yo!

  • These are retarded videos. Sure it would be freakin' sweet to be friends with Emma Watson and shit, but that shouldn't be your reason for going to this university.

  • @jetfighters20fr accept.

  • liberals = republicans,.. all the same,.. they both never except the one that think different that them self.

  • i really really want to go. it has my major and if i keep my grades up my conselour thinks its possible i might get it. emma watson being there is just a plus.

  • i go here, and the sad thing is, everybody still wants to see emma watson

  • I'd go to brown just for pass/fail system.

  • @mathgeekphysics Most students at Brown only end up taking 1 or 2 classes pass/fail.

  • brown has been my dream.

  • Brown is amazing. I love it here.

  • A friend of the family went to Brown University. I hear only good things about it from him. It´s my dream-school. To bad I dont have the money or the grades... I do have the brain thou... Haha!

  • "Creative open minded liberal type"... "down to earth liberal type"... Kinda lazy basing your political philosophy on what you see on fox news. The presenters didn't do this school justice.

  • Anyone else notice that their racial section didn't add up to 100%..wtf LOL. Probably just took a few off the white category to look more diverse, losers.

  • @NJRocks281 um, rather probably because some people don't report their ethnicity.

  • I love Brown, because brown is the color of poop!

  • i thought it always cost different depending on wich education you choose.

here in sweden you pay for the program, but not to go to the university itself. so everyone who got good grades are allowed to go, no people are rejected for the lack of money. and if you can´t pay for your school there´s this government program you can apply to and they will give you a loan so you can get thrue with school. sweden is cool like that, you can be born poor but study anything if you have good grades.

  • @airasweetie government pays for you to go to school in the USA too, if you cannot pay it yourself. yes people get rejected but there are 1000s of universities around, the better you do, the better school you can go to, and get a better job. But the part that sucks is that you have to pay the same amount no matter what it is that you want to learn, and you have to pay for university health care which for me is like $1,500 a year =[

  • @airasweetie I was born poor and am studying anything i want, USA sure does suck eh.

  • I got accepted to Brown University, Graduate school in Education.

  • @unikiran Congrats! =]

  • I'll be applying there in the fall

  • wow...all schools are pretty much the same. I am at a top public school...went to an undergrad top private school.....just get he degree wherever you are..stop paying inflated prices...i dont i get the free MONIES!!!.....

  • I've never even considered Brown before but after asking my friend who currently goes there, researched their curriculum, history and searched around google and youtube, studying at Brown for 4 years will probably be the greatest learning experience of my life.

I can't wait for the future!

  • Taking every class pass fail is technically possible but youd be hard pressed to find an advisor who would be willing to advise you or a concentration who's dean would allow it (unless you had some sort of demonstrated test anxiety). Also this video is so old,

  • im not sure the every class pass/fail thing is true. they didnt present this well

  • I'm really mad at videos like this. I go to Brown and everyone thinks that we all take our classes pass/fail. The notion that you can graduate with all pass/fail is preposterous. The recommended MAXIMUM number of pass/fail in a given term is 1, and it's not recommended for your major requirements. Guess what? I haven't taken a single class pass/fail and don't plan to.

On another note, I love it here, it is definitely the most fun ivy ;)

  • Cunts.

  • CHECK OUT THE VIDEO RESPONSE!

  • Brown, here I come!!!

  • I wanna go to brown or YALE!!! preferably yale

  • I'd choose Yale. I visited both places and I chose Yale, largely because I couldn't get the smell of pot off my clothes after my Brown visit...

  • Why would anyone ever want to get the smell of pot OFF of their clothes?

  • 1. Pot smells bad.

    2. Job interviews.

    3. Meeting parents.

    4. Going on Date with non-stoner.

    5. High school reunion.

    6. Airport Security.

    7. Don't want to get arrested for DUI.

    8. Going to work.

    etc.

  • 1. I agree pot does smell bad

    2. I was making an attempt at crude humor

    3. I applied to both Brown and Yale and am curious about the intent of what I'm sure must have been an instance of hyperbole, surely Brown does not literally reek of pot.

    4. I believe you would be hard pressed to find a school in America that isn't soaked(pardon my choice of verbal) in pot and worse things.

    5. regarding your ,2, if you are old enough to smoke pot, wouldn't you have already met your parents?

  • 4: True, but Brown is probably one of the highest on that list.

5: I meant other peoples parents.

Don't get me wrong. Brown is a great School. They have a great crew team and very interesting classes. But I know if I went there, I'd never get anything done.

  • Ahh i really wana go uni in America :(

  • ireaally want to go herewhen i get older

  • I think brown looks fantastic- I don't even live in America though so that's NEVER going to happen! :(

  • providence is nice to visit , but living there sucks.

  • wow i like how honest this video is

  • @bjm4idplayer hahahaha i know...i love it!

  • won't a pass fail scheme just de-motivate everyone?

  • people realize they do pass fail too often they wont be taken seriously in any graduate program application. so it is used but not that often.

  • you shouldn't attend to brown just to see emma watson.

  • @TheSAllme I got into Brown and I am totally hoping to see Emma Watson there. But I'm going to try to pretend like I didn't just look at her so she doesn't think I'm creepy. Then I'm going to dance in place and go to my dorm and watch Harry Potter.

  • Acceptance rate is down to 10%

  • Nice video I have to compile a review like this for my university

  • do u hav the non crappy quality anywhere?

  • Depends on what you mean by "how smart." Having a 200 IQ doesn't matter if you dont' work hard.

  • hey i have a better question how smart do you need to be to go to brown

  • hey guys i have a question? if you graduate from this university then could you have your own channel and make your own cartoons? (oh and gaming development)

  • failquestion

  • shut up and answear the god damn question holms

  • wtf do you mean by "own channel". You don't need to go to an ivy league to make your own cartoons/have a channel. You just need to be a rich billionaire to have your own channel and be a great artist to be a cartoonist. Use your common sense fool.

  • Ccavs is right.

  • I got an question lilguy1171 why are you on universities if your only 13.

  • because i heard it was a really good university why

  • If you have to ask, you won't get in.

  • emma watson go here

    omg!

    dang it !

  • what?? it's more expensive than yale!! ugh, I cannot afford this

  • if you're smart enough you can get a scholarship

  • i dont know if i'm smart enough, but i know i am not willing to give up all my fun just to study hard enough to get into such a school

  • yeah, we'll see if you'll still have the same opinion some years from now. I know that im not smart enough to get in one of these schools, but i wish i was.

  • is that a TV show?? i love it

  • If you guys are going just to see Emma Watson, you guys are idiots. Let the people who want to go there go there.

  • @halachelseaFC dont worry, ppl who wants to go to brown just to see emma watson probably doesnt have a chance to be admitted

  • MAN I LIVE IN NEW JERSEY WOOOT, so close to this university, imma go see emma watson when she gets there OLOLOLOLOLLO. anyone want to join ?

  • Emma Watson from Harry Potter is going to Brown University starting September. Whoever attends this school is SOOOO LUCKY!!!!!!!

  • yup.. ik.. i wish i was old enough to attend collegue now lol.

  • I don't know you, and I am certainly not trying to imply anything about you, but, being excited about some random actress attending a school makes you Sound like a loser. No offense.

  • what is the GPA to get in here.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah Brown does let you do whatever you want...as long as its left wing and liberal. Conservative thought is definetly not tolerated. The first ammendment applies only to politically correct points of view. You think I'm kidding? Try sitting in the Brown university quad with Rush Limbaugh on your radio. A conservative may not agree with what you say but will defend with thier life your right to say it. A liberal may not agree with what you say so shut your damn mouth. Open minded? HA!

  • I just graduated from Brown and am registered republican. I was very vocal about my views on campus, both in classes and in school publications. With the exception of maybe one incident freshman year, I never felt attacked or harassed over my views. Many at Brown, who only hear one perspective, are genuinely interested in reasoned alternative views and don't shut you down. The handful of radical loons, who have nothing better to do, are a different story.

  • If a conservative doesn't agree with you you can count on being called an America hating, communist, bleeding heart hippie. When a liberal doesn't like something about the state of things they devote themselves to changing it, when a conservative doesn't like something they exploit mass ignorance and imagine that things are another way and speak as if it were so. HA!

  • @whathoney73 It sounds like you are being pretty closed-minded about it to me.

  • Can anyone help me out? I just got accepted into Brown and I'm wondering what the grade requirements are in senior year to keep me from getting my acceptance revoked? I don't think I'm going to be able to raise my C in AP Calculus, and I'm hoping that doesn't kill it for me.

  • Depends on your other grades, but if you have a good reason it shouldnt be a problem hopefully

  • Just try to raise your C, and if you can't, Brown will likely send you a letter about it but not at all rescind your acceptance. I'm not sure if many (or any) acceptances are rescinded.

  • whats up with the parties at Brown. Are there dorm parties, beer pong and stuff like that. Im tryn to decide between Brown, Notre Dame, and Boston College. I spent a night at BC and it was crazy. Notre Dame was sick too, got trashed for three nights in a roll lol. Is Brown like the same thing bc ive heard bad rep about Brown concerning partying and shit like that.

  • there's parties every weekend some are dorm parties some are registered on campus parties, some are off campus...it depends which crowd you want to be around! I love it here def, come to Brown!

  • Im pretty sure Iv been rejected and yeah I would have loved to go to Brown it looks like the most amazing place where I could have really explored myself and achieved something substantial. Oh well I'll apply again for my MA, Warwick will have to be my destination for undergrad now.

  • I loved Brown, but wasn't allowed to go. If only Brown was good enough for engineering to justify the pricetag. :o/.

  • that was intelligent, stop trolling

  • The U has this video, but chopped up into several video segments. I'm glad you were able to bring the video in one entire segment. Thanks!

  • I LOVE BROWN! I'm going to go there and I can't wait!!!!! :)

  • Im doing the IB program does anyone know around what average score i would need to get into brown?

  • I'm in the IB program as well... I don't really know what score you need, but I would say at least a predicted 36 along with good extracurriculars and decent volunteering (remember, universities want to see you as a holistic person, so the score alone won't do you much good... also, the essays you write will play a big role as well).

  • 91palmi (4 seconds ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Remove I got accepted this year into Brown, and I had a predicted of a 39, without the bonus points.

But from what I've heard, the predicteds aren't actually that important in the US. its rly more about class grades.

    gd luck!

    PS. IB so IBS =P

  • Congrats!!!!

I had a predicted 38 with bonus points and my SAT Reasoning and SATIIs were just average which is probably why I was rejected lol (I do a ton of ECs and I've won a lot of awards... but I guess everyone applying had similar stats =p)

*sigh* I got into McGill and other top Canadian unis so I can't complain. I wish you the best @ Brown ^_^

  • thx congrats to you too =)

most important thing is to be happy wherever u end up

don't take it too personally. the competition is just insane, and even if ur "good enough" to get in and have a realistic shot, I think it is also down to quite a bit of luck at the end of the day. (I applied to 4 other ivies and didnt get in =P ...though I got into brown. so u see my point)

wish u the best too =)

shame ur not comin tho, mebs we wuda gotten along ;)

  • Did you apply as regular or early?

My predicted grades weren't great, and I am aiming at a 37/38.. but I'm taking a year off so I am about to apply now.. Like how "average" were your grades if I may ask? I'm really uncertain as to how good my chances are..

    :)

  • @EnflamedKamikaze im takin IB too!!

well today even my teacher just told me that altho in the US, the GPA thing curriculum correlates with SAT stuff, but the IB is totally sth different

yah my SAT wont be so high unless i study so hard but hey McGill is SUPER good.

ah I WNA GO TO UNIIIIIII >< XD

  • My Uncle Phil is the head footabll coach there. You have to be really good in football to be on the best team in the Ivy league!! :) My Uncles the best!!

  • I got a 29 on my ACT, and brown has offered me a ride. But, i am thinking about attending because of football..., and in the video they really dont have school spirit. can anyone tell me how they think the spirit is???

  • I have been to tbe Brown games and I think the Spirit is pretty good. They have one of the best football teams in the Ivy league (because of my Uncle of course! ans the football players) This is a great school!

  • football spirit is great here

our team won the ivy league title this year

  • what show is this? can someone please tell me?

  • desperate house wives

  • should i go to this school or nyu i play baseball so

  • do NOT go to nyu..i have had nothing but bad experiences there. the no campus thing=awful, school spirit=non existant, and they have a really strict curriculum. i transfered to brown and love it here. go with brown!

  • I would like to go to this school but the SAT scores are ridiculous. I'm a naturally putrid test taker, so my SAT scores aren't necessarily lighting the world on fire.
