I first saw Heart in Toronto Canada when Dream Boat Annie came out, I was backstage with my Dad who got us backstage passes cause he was professional football player and the show was at CNE stadium where he played, I remember them walking to the stage and Ann stopped and said "How are you doing little man?" I could`nt speak she just smiled and my Dad was like well she was very nice and I said she`s pretty too...lol
Years later I saw this tour in Tampa, FL and they were awesome.
this song did hit the charts and would have made a bigger impact on the charts if a video was made for this song. the song of this song on the cassette is a killer rocker song but sound like crap ever since it was put onto cd.
You never hear about a male rocker who gained weight and kept on rocking it's always the female. Ann suffers a medical condition from my understanding which caused the weight and what does it matter really?
Female rock singers?....Ann and Nancy, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, Alannah Myles(too bad after her 2nd album she "disappeared but her 1st album rocked!!), Lee Aaron, Darby Mills(Headpins)...that's it for me really....Chrissy Steele had a couple of good songs like "Love Don't Last Forever".....
This is definately one of Heart's best songs!!! I used to play this song all the time when it came out back in '85. I've always liked Ann and Nancy Wilson.
HEY, these gals are official supporters of my TOTALLY MUSIC ARTIST CHANNEL and soon to be supporters of my TOTALLY FEM METAL CHANNEL. Its a shame that there was such a US prejudice against fem rock bands. World wide that genre has exploded and Ive identified almost 300 really good fem metal bands....just check my channel and see for yourself. It was too much for my main channel so I started a dedicated channel just last week.Im here to add some 80s metal to a playlist for it. It fits right in!
@awesomeologyism Thats sad for 2 reasons. 1) I have found some 300 of these bands. 2) Have you seen Simone Simons, Liv Kristen, and Charlotte Wessels? Man are you missing out. Nightwish, Delain, Epica, and Leaves Eyes are very good. Joan Jett went all goofy. Patty Smyth went all McEnroe. Vixen went bye bye, and Heart went all instrumental. Amy Mann retired. The GoGos did too. Suzanna Hoffs walked like an Egyptian into the history books. If you really like this genre, you would support ALL OF IT.
IMPRESSIVE how a fine hippie 70's band as Heart goes an AWESOME BETTER GREAT BAND when they CHANGED THEIR SOUND in that 1985 album and turned absolutely New Wave Heavy Rock, COPYING the sound style from VIXEN all-female heavy metal band. But, that's OK: Heart got better than Vixen. I LOVE TOO MUCH THIS SONG!
@Hacker73 Whats bad is how the American music industry has it in for female rockers. They are really stupid in that regard.....Tarja Tarunen, Simone Simons, Floor Jansen and several others have reached total rock diva icon status world wide and for good reason.....they rock, and they ARE divas.I appreciate HEART and Patty Smythe, and Vixen because they were doing it against the stream of corporate pressure. And YES, THIS WAS A TERRIFFIC HEART ALBUM! Stevie Nicks did a couple good ones too.
@kevingthompson14 Totally agree with you and they try to dominate the ladies and MAKE them mainstream. Its like they don't trust them to write or sing a credible song. ''Barracudas'' as Heart called them.
@AmethystDew I have been involved with the ProgPowerUSA event for 10 years and it totally opened my eyes to a whole new world of music.A world where the females were appreciated and even revered. My 2nd artist support effort (linked here); TOTALLY FEM METAL CHANNEL is a product of all the 300+ fem rock/metal bands/artists that Ive found. Some of these are amazing! I grew up in the big 80s and I still like this new stuff BETTER even, although I still have a large place in my heart 70s/80s bands.
Did they do an actual video for this song? I see this song only hit #54 on the Billboard Charts in August of 1986, where the first 4 songs on this Album (Heart), made the Top 10. 1. What About Love (#10), Never (#4), These Dreams (First #1 song for them), and Nothing At All (#10). Those songs were good, but to me this was there best song on that Album.
@kameronthorne1 The "Bad Animals" Album came out in June of 1987. If they toured in 1986 (which I believe they did), then it was from the "Heart" album, which was released in July of 1985. I never saw them live, but VH1 CLASSIC, had a concert they did from last year, or 09, and they still can kick ass.
i first saw heart live in '85 when they toured to support this album and i know for a fact the tour was extended into 1986 and heart went to the same towns 8 months later because this album took off so well. they were pulling over 14,000 people into arenas in 1986 the same arenas they were at in 1985 when they were still pulling in maybe 10,000 fans. someone decided to extend the tour because the album sold so well.
it was a huge success for heart and the live show was incredible
She makes today vocalists look like such HACKS...The vocal part where she sings 'You'd be lying on the floor" is not easy to pull off, without sounding incredibly weak. Oh yeah I forgot to mention today's vocalists are HACKS,don't be fooled by American idol..
Always was a heart fan in the 70's, but not a wild fan. When I heard this album with All eyes, Never and others, I was big time hooked. This is one of their best songs, along with All eyes. and Nothin at all. This whole album was great. Everyone talks about Dreamboat Annie, but their sound really matured into a bonafide hard rock band with this. I saw them in concert in the late 80's and they were very good. Will se them this summer again.
@HighMomentum1, I agree, my friend. Heart developed so very well in the 80s, and this album really is the proof in the pudding. "The Essential Heart" collection CDs provide such a good balance of the different times in the band's career.
Heart had amazing songs throughout their career, even though I love the hard rocking 70's material I have to admit that Ann's voice was peaking during the 80's!! Not sure if it was Ron nevison or some other producer, but even though the songs were pop, Ann's singing style was the best during the Heart, Bad animals, and Brigade era!!Who do you think told her to sing that way with these new songs? The style was slick and flawless!! s
i think brigade is horrendous and that heart shot themselves in the foot by not having nevison produce that album. they should have waited until 1991 if nevison was not available the 1993 album was good but was not heard. brigade rode on the coat tails of the 2 previous nevison albums. it was a huge mistake even though brigade was able to produce a top 40 hit.
One their best! (In fact, the whole album is awesome!)
To folks comparing to Lady Gaga: WHY!? I can understand comparing Lady Gaga to Madonna or Michael Jackson, but not to Heart! There's no act today deserving of comparison to the Wilson sisters!
@bwreisman I'm a hardcore Gaga fan, but I couldn't agree more with you. I grew up listening to Heart. Every single song is amazing. Like you said, nothing can compare to the Wilson sisters.
Im only 20 years old and I am thankful that I had parents that introduced me to good music like this. The music of my generation really cant compare. Heart was one of the bands I grew up listening to, along with Journey, U2, ACDC, etc. And I love them just as much now as I did back then.

@KingLurtz1 understood... but maybe your generation will get fed up enough to see the decadence in music and do something about it. rap, hip hop ? lol i grew up in the baby stages of that era and many ( oh yes including many friends of mine that are black) hated how it turned out... a crappy, low class, and silly music that borrows at times from older music as its back drop. nothing new to say since i saw it from its origins and thought, holy shit this is garbage.

@WoodRatGirl your mother is a dirty whore so stick your dick in her ass mother fucker scum bag.why do you suck your daddy dick when you where a litle girl he would go in your bedroom & you would suck daddy dick & then he woul fuck you
definately my favourite heart song among many great songs. Used to love headbanging to this at sunderland / newcastle mayfair in the mid 80's when it was released
Was there ever an official music video for this song? I read that this was released as a single, so you'd think there would be a video for it...I don't ever remember seeing one though.
Was there ever an official music video for this song? I read that this was released as a single, so you'd think there would be a video for it...I don't ever remember seeing one though.
Love it!!!! I made a mistake back in the HOT summer of 1988 and My red headed girlfriend took this song deadly serious. Still have the scars from her wrath. I didn't relize a girl could hit and bite that hard!!!!
@samboy1288 I think this was one of the songs on this album written by the band, or the usual Ann/Nancy/Sue Ennis collaboration. It's certainly their style.
Thats more the way I am leaning at the moment! :))
Gee, do you think I could make something work with the song "TNT", yea, there just might be a song based on that! :)) "Cause we're W@G, were dynamite.....
Ya think so, I just got the Audacity program , so once I learn how to use it, the YT Bad Boys better really look out >:((
Since they just seem to love to block my uploads. I probably can't win, or get even, but I'm NOT going down without putting up one Heck of a Fight!!! >:((
Tiger Woods should have paid attention... especially that line "If I was you I'd really cool it or risk a night you'll never forget". How prophetic! Could certainly be Elin's theme song.
Such an 80's pop/rock sound! It still jams though.

Not all men cheat, so cut out the feminist hate act against men.

definately my favourite heart song among many great songs. Used to love headbanging to this at sunderland / newcastle mayfair in the mid 80's when it was released

Was there ever an official music video for this song? I read that this was released as a single, so you'd think there would be a video for it...I don't ever remember seeing one though.

They put those 80s keyboards to good use. ;)
It is very complimentary.

Ya think so, I just got the Audacity program , so once I learn how to use it, the YT Bad Boys better really look out >:((
Since they just seem to love to block my uploads. I probably can't win, or get even, but I'm NOT going down without putting up one Heck of a Fight!!! >:((

Great song by Heart :))
I'll have to search your channel, I forgot you have some great songs!
Don't suppose you have just the instrumental for this.
I' m thinking that "If Blocks could kill" might have some potential!!!! HaHaHa LOL :))

Tiger Woods should have paid attention... especially that line "If I was you I'd really cool it or risk a night you'll never forget". How prophetic! Could certainly be Elin's theme song.

1985 was great, no freaks like tiger woods or oprah winfreak to hear about endlessly.
summer 1985 was a great year where looks could kill if you had them which most heart fans did. you'd know this if you went to thier concerts in 1985.
