Ray Price, still gives me goose bumps, I lived In Cleveland, Ohio area for over 20 yrs. went to see Ray anytime he was within a 100 miles, even thru snow storms, have all his albums, He's the best Country Singer there is.
You are right--Ray Price, without question, has the most beautiful voice country music has ever known!! He never has received half the acclaim he deserves! He could sing any kind of music with that voice! Let's al write to the Kennedy Center and get him honored, like they honored Merle last year!
@givingthanks2006 : I'm not that familiar with Country music...I just listened to his song and thought; He has to be among the TOP 10 ...THE TOP! Then I started looking at all the comments :o) :o) :o) Ray Price paid the price of being a silent star maybe? What a soothing voice.
we were in high school in Marlin,Texas and went to Geneva Hall in Waco to hear Ray and his band -he sang this song-it was 1965 or '66.....what lovely memories of Ray and his voice.....and the dancing was what it should be...thanks!
Don't you just love all that vibrato in his voice? Johnny Bush was the only one I ever heard that could even come close to it. Wilma Lee Cooper and Stevie Nicks are two other singers I like, just to name a couple, who have a lot of vibrato in their perforformances.
Ray Price was the "Class of Country".....the Cherokee Cowboy was the Frank Sinatra of country....w/the twin fiddle and steel sounds in his band.......captured the hearts of millions of true country fans.
This is one of the most beautiful things I''ve ever seen. Perfect vocals, perfect instrumentation, songs from the very first country album I ever bought. And this is so sexy. I so want to be that woman he's singing to....
Ray was the sharpest , well dressed of all country performers. You don't see that in today's "country?" performers. Pure class act, and his singing is superb!
Ray's vibrato and fantastic voice first attracted me in 1966. I have seen him in person at least 40 times and hope to see him many more time in the future. He still dresses impeccably and puts on a concert that gives me goose flesh.
Had the honor to sit and visit with Keith's daughters a few years back when they inducted him into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame in San Marcos Texas. Two Super Ladies! Keith was truly one of the BEST at his trade!
What a voice! Magnicicent tone which he retains way up high. He may not have had the best voice in country music history but I'VE never heard a better one.
When I fished Bass tournaments in the 90s. The name of my Bassboat was "the other woman" and others across the nation would always honk as they passed by. Always loved this song and singer. Real Honky Tonk
It is great to see that people still remember Ray Price. As much as I love Haggard and Jones, Ray has the greatest voice country music has ever known (sorry Vince).
If Ray had grown up in a different place, he would have been a great operatic tenor.
@dragknuckle Some like me weren't around the first time around so don't remember. I wouldn't have heard of Ray if not for YouTube as crazy as that sounds. I agree that he's number 1 though George Jones is 1A I think.
Back in 1978-79, my wife(Theresa) and I played in a band with the guitar player that's singing harmony with Ray Price. Many a nite we would sit out in the parking lot sharing a bottle and he would talk about the birds that were singing in trees.
@fitzpjo I agree; the thing was, he got better with age. Such a mellow, pure voice. He sang Kristopherson's incredible songs better than any other male singer. Such great memories of great musicians!
In my opinion Ray Price IS country music. For some that were wondering, that sounds like Buddy Emmons on the steel. The name of the last song is "Last Letter". The most popular version goes to Jack Greene.
What a real great video - the high audio-quality of the music makes me assume that it's a playback (by the way: where is the steel-player??) - Of course "The other woman" is well known ... but the second song, wow! - I've never heard it before ... Ray really knows how to bring a tear to any man's eye! Thanks a lot for sharing, I can't get enough of it!
Ray Price, Faron Young, The Possum,Buck Owens, Wynn Stewert, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Jim Reeves, Charly Pride, Bill Anderson, Connie Smith, Tammy Wynette, Jean Sheppard Loretta Lynn,Patsy Cline, they will carrie the flame for ever, Mac
This is country music at its absolute best - a heavy 4/4 shuffle; pedal steel; fiddle and Ray on the vocals. It just doesn't get any better than this. How sad that this era in county music has passed and given way to the junk that comes out of Nashville today.
you know I travel the by-ways of YouTube almost every night, and i come across a video like this, and im reminded of why Ray Price was and is still the Greatest Country and Western singer out there,Mac
Ray Price is one my favorite Country Music singers from the 60's to Now
