Very very good! Reminds me of a song by the Legendary Pink Dots, "the more it changes". I use Orion Platinum myself (besides Reaper and Zynewave Podium, which aren't patternbased, but you can of course use Orion just like any other sequencer.) I always return to Orion, the included effects are outstanding compared to others, and I like the synths and the workflow much.
Great song, thanks for posting! I'd maybe give it a melody on top, like LPD's singer sings over "the more it changes"-your way!
Thanks for your kind comments! I lost the source file for this song after upgrading to Orion Platinum (now just Orion). I've redone it, and it sounds pretty close - just have to add a melody like you said! I'm also going to give it a proper video as well... Any film students/3D artists want to help?!!!
Not bad, the chord changes are nicely done and the choice of pads add a lot of atmosphere. Everything connects and doesn't clash, varying in key. Keep it up, it's good to see others using orion.
Yeah, Orion's workflow is definitely streamlined - and I always return to it. I'll get distracted by Sonar/Psycle/AXS/etc. But when it comes down to actually laying down tracks and efficiently building a song, I turn to Orion. If I was to add one thing, it would be the ability to record directly to the playlist (which is similar to a track view) outside of a pattern. Of course that feature would be completely transparent to though who would not use the feature...
Thanks! From the resulting Orion mixdown I created an AVI, then imported that into a program called Riva FLV encoder(a free utility). FLV is the video format that Youtube uses. Set the export settings to 320x240, audio at 128K/44.1KHz/stereo. These settings bypass Youtube's encoder, which mixes down to mono..
Yes, I'm using Reason for online classes I'm taking at Berklee. Reason is a great piece of software, but I still feel more comfortable in Orion. My music relies on patterns largely, and Orion is very intuitive when it comes to that.

This is really well composed!

I have downloaded almost all the demos available of the available sequencers, even the free ones. None of them comes close to Orion platinum.
I'll never change for another one. The best interface so far, most intuitive and so easy!
Only some effects could have been merged together instead of being separated in dozens of effects which sound more or less the same.

nice man, chillout music :D, a drumbreak alongside with a phasing effect would fit into it, i think.
In my opinion, Orion is more comfortable (intuitive to control) than fruity loop

Cool, I could try that! And yes, Orion is way more intuitive than Fruity - closer in function to my old hardware setup back in the day.

I'm intrigued by that. Have you tried Reason?

Orion is by far the most pleasing program I have ever worked with. Simple yet powerful.
