  • vestal negro :)

  • Virgin Black is the best

  • Whether your Christan or not, beliefs shouldn't stand in the way of listening to this amazing band. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this album (Sombre Romantic) and the whole thing is a masterpiece. Virgin Black really are artists.

  • solonu skm amk şarknıın içine etti

  • Jesus died and rose again for all of us even for those who would put him on the cross again. To know Jesus is to know life everlasting..

  • They should do a cover of Mozarts' Requiem :,-)

  • @Funechrist check out "Requiem Kyrie"

  • Having not heard the song for a few years, after smoking the introduction burst into mind, and having completely forgotten (momentarily, I hope) the band and song, rediscovering this masterpiece is wonderful.

  • 2:08 - 2:23 have you ever feel like this? it's just.. one word.. PAIN

  • Beautiful!!

  • ya estoy podrido de ver la jeta de ese imbecil letania verborragica de un masturbador compulsivo de la hipocresia deificada!!!

  • ya estoy podrido de ver la jeta de ese imbecil

  • I personally take the lyrics as being ashamed of ones personal sins. Every sin ads to Christ's past pain on the cross/in hell. So we beat Him and rape Him every time we sin.

  • @aragorn767

I don't think so - Christ went through what he went through, and ascended to Heaven - we may disappoint Him, but I don't think we inflict pain on Him - strange to consider that every time I have that extra beer I don't need, it's the same as ass-fucking the Son of God - no, I really don't think so - it's our own fulfillment that we deny; God doesn't need us as much as we need Him - wouldn't you think?

  • @aragorn767

    LOL!

    Dear Diary,

Today I beat and raped Jesus Christ by sneaking a second glance at that chick in human resources. And BOY, was it ever worth it! I wonder what I'll do to Jesus once I get her in bed!

  • @jamaicanlager I'm serious. If Jesus died for each of our sins I believe He had to suffer for every single one, past, present, and future. It's like we rape Him frequently.

  • It is a surprise that I don't see Samantha Escarbe on the videos that list the women in metal. It's always Cristina Scabbia, Sharon den Adel, Tarja Turunen, Simone Simons, and many of the other symphonic metal type women even though I do respect and love them as well.

  • I really love that first solo of hers in this song it still sends me chills and expresses melancholy quite well. She is not only an underrated woman in the metal scene but also an underrated guitarist overall.

  • the solo is amazing full on feelings.. Whyskie a Cigarette and your thoughts....

  • this song perfectly expresses the distress you feel when you think or really know what you loved has betrayed what was your north. at least that I see me, so I feel many times. is simply great

  • not my kind of music but i respect you all that like it cause we were born to make our own decisions.

  • @spencersym except listening to bieber... thats brainwashing at its worst lol

  • @spencersym

Good fucking grief, does that even need to be said? Do you have opinions on anything at all, or do you constantly hide behind that weak little safety net of overindulged tolerance?

  • Yet another band to drone off too along with Empyrium, The 3rd and the mortal, and Ashes you leave.

  • grave ...your retarded...internet toughguy like most if its a shit band then why you on here commenting like a ass....attention?.....whatever the case if you dont like it dont be here listening and talking trash you fuckin fuck..lol..love that phrase ''fucking fuck''...sorry people..

  • The sun receives an empty gaze

    it mourns

it knows my life is gone

No more to offer but my flesh to this soil

and a single tear marks my final prayer

a rosebud sits in the palm of your hand as I end

    this flower

    it blossoms

  • But now he is dead and his prophecies with him

I will bury him not as insult to your face

as I stare at his corpse one detail disturbs me

His cold stark finger points where I have not been...

From my house, a cage of rotten wood

I stumble forth to lay beneath the bush

    withered bones groan,

I cultivate as the soil and I grow closer

  • Frequently I rape him as I know nothing else

He curls up like a fetus and paints his face with sadness

Now a fragment of remorse has etched

I bandage his wounds, I kiss the face of Jesus Christ but he is dead

    What can I do?

You have forsaked me, called yourself messiah, expected me to follow

  • Jesus lies dying in my bed

    Companions since birth...

    in this stagnant dingy haunt

    he never really lived.

Last night I beat him as he would not leave

My insane eyes stare at him as his welted body bleeds

  • @standmanmike this band sings these lyrics? i find the lyrics you write to be somewhat repugnant and not full of light....but tinged with darkness. let the light shine, the light of christ, forgetting all this darkness we walk in and focus on the one and only light. focus on the darkness and lose sight of light eternal. that is my firm belief. In the new testament it says to focus on whatsoever is good. rape is not a concept that is good to focus on. even if only as a metaphor....

  • @watersunsoil yeah lyrics are from the song..life cant be explained in terms of good and bad of light and darkness...anyway im an atheist and believe that god is a smart creation to manipulate masses..

  • @standmanmike You must not have a standard with which to base your morality on if you don't think good and bad do not explain anything in life. I agree with you God is a good concept to use to control masses if used in the wrong way....see what we're doing here? We're making moral judgements. "God a good concept to manipulate society" is a concept itself related to morality, ie what is good and what is bad....what ought to be and what ought not to be.....what are your judgments based on?

  • @watersunsoil What moral compass do you relate your judgements on, where does your morality come from if good and bad do not exist? Why is using anything to manipulate anyone for any reason bad if you don't think life can be explained in terms of good and bad of light and darkness? See what i mean here? you're contradicting yourself by using a moral view in your opinion. if its just an opinion that is meaningless, why should we follow your opinion vs any religious extremist? just opinion?

  • @watersunsoil nop i didnt say that...i never used the word good concept..and manipulate has a negative meaning..what is just and moral is up to the common sense we all have..we dont need laws or god..money corrupt us...

  • @standmanmike "believe that god is a smart creation to manipulate masses.." that is a quote from you.

Smart creation and good creation really a minor difference if you're asking me. religion i agree with you does often manipulate people, i've seen it done. some people who are believers think and others are brainless sheep. some of the christians who follow christ actually think for themselves.

we do need laws. We would have to do a social science experiment to find the truth to this...

  • i love jesus..

  • oh mennnn that solo guitar is soo deep and is a girl ups...

  • I love Virgin Black, this band is perfect

  • LOL goths are people of germany.. ostrogoth and visigoth

other goth is more like sub-fashion of this movement called punk

  • The guitar at the end botches too much... the beginning was pure gothic style like Black Tape for a Blue Girl.

La chitarra alla fine pasticcia troppo... l'inizio era puro gothic come i Black Tape for a Blue Girl

  • NoEoAoRo agree

  • thanks for the video

    images as well

  • grande el doom metal

  • very good for sleeping children : D

  • sorry christians are forbidden to have oral sex. and besides why are you using god's name in vain, i thought you didnt believe in him you stupid idiot. any true athiest would say darwin damn or science damn

  • @benelijah12 who said i was athiest you stupid christian your god said its forbiden to kill yet you still killed thousands of pagans in the past so keep sucking his cock its what you christians are good at.

  • i nevered said i was a christian you Pan's Bitch. God does not have a gender, and plus the killing did not start happening till the catholic church came to power. emperor constantine when baptism change from jesus's only to the trinity. I am not a Catholic i am not stupid because i know my history. if looked at history it was all the catholics who killed not todays christians. so you are the one who is the dumbass you and your fucking whore mother earth.

  • @benelijah12 and how are you going to say that it was the catholics when christianity started and spred through athens and rome they would kill anyone who was not christian so do some research and what the fuck is a pans bitch who the fuck says that

  • since you are a pagan. Christain were forbidden to kill. If they killed they were not true Christians. Catholic came about 325 AD When Christian Started to become popular with some of the Roman Emperor. Christians were persected. up untill that time. Then Emperor constantine order the death of Pagan to cause the spread of Christianity. The catholic Church was formed by Constatine

  • @benelijah12 where can you find the word trinity in the bible? (nothing negative meant)

  • @kodiakanubis16 you cannot find it in the bible, but i reject the trinity doctrine

  • which religion didnt kill people besides buddhism?

  • @MysticleMonster

Buddhism killed its fair share of people. There are seldom historical heroes.

  • please give a source for your so called "facts" i wanna see that!

when have people killed people in the name of Buddha/Nirvana?

  • @OndskapensHersker go check on india's history, or don't you consider them as "people"? lol :P

  • @lucas118

    is India a buddhist county?

  • @OndskapensHersker

nope, it's a major hindu country

  • @gothgirl16

it's both. buddhism came from india and is actually an older religion.

  • @OndskapensHersker hindu or hindi

  • @OndskapensHersker

The exile of Christianity from Japan under pain of torture.

  • @rocketman987654321: If you want oral, you've come to the wrong place dude. Sounds like someone isn't getting any, and is getting desperate :). Calm down, take a deep breath, and learn how to distinguish between the actions of some people in the past, and Christians in the present. Frankly, you look like a clown at the moment :).

  • @NoEoAoRo i think you under estimated my hate for you faggot christians you queens in the present are exactually the same as in the past

  • nope, they did something in the past... they do nout now tho :P

    PWNED!!!!

  • it knows my life is gone

  • tragic song...

    thank you for upload!

  • @InvincibleRKO why tragic?

  • Beautiful song....(v)(V)(V)....LJUBAV JE PREDIVNA KADA JE IMAŠ S KIM PODIJELITI....LJUBAV JE " BOL " A " BOL " JE NEŠTO PREKRASNO U USPOREDBI SA SAMOCOM...

  • so ...no christian...maybe but ...it is said, it is lovely , it is a reality or maybe not ..how cares..it is a beautiful song

  • this is relli

  • The lyrics identify with the perspective of Judas Iscariot [hence the title of the song], the one [of the twelve] disciples who betrayed Jesus and was lost to eternal perdition. The temporal situation of the lyric is clearly after the betrayal/death of Christ. As to the question of whether or not VB utilizes Christian lyrics, see the Wikipedia article on them [which plainly states that they do indeed]. Also, consider their song Anthem in which they confess Jesus as the risen Christ.

  • Also, the following track Lamenting Kiss may also be understood as being from Iscariot's perspective. Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss and Jesus was clearly wounded by this fact [see Lk 22:48]. The song Lamenting Kiss repeats some conceptual items from the song Museum of Iscariot [e.g., the notion of Christological prophecies failing/coming to nought from Judas' now faithless perspective]. This would strengthen the thesis that the two songs are about Judas [perhaps the whole CD?].

  • MegaMystery, you greatly misunderstand the lyrics. It's about how we all killed Christ through sin, but through his death, we learn that we, too, must die.

  • LoL wtf r u talkin?? Sure the lyrics have no the meaning that you gave.. VB are talkin about them personal ideas (and they have told many many times that they are a PURE PAGANISTIC METAL BAND!) -Sorry for my english-

  • zajebista muza

  • one of the greatest guitar solos i've ever heard...i love this band so much concerning music...and lyrics is of course a matter of opinion, as music too^^, but i like almost all the stuff they do...

  • I have seen this on Youtube for the few months ive listened to these guys, just never bothered to watch. But I have to say an amazing song, and if no-one minds me voiceing my opinion on the meaning.. I think its like 'walking in the shoes' of Judas Iscariot after he betrayed Jesus. I dont know.. just my thought or if its something else, just send me a message.

  • why do you always comment the same thing on every christian goth band video? christians can be goths and goths can be christians. I went to u.u. which is a confrance for christian goths, punks, and hardcores! goth is a lifestyle, not a religion. you should watch the gothic charm school videos!

  • indeed, gothic is a lifestyle and certain interests and some ideals...not a religion. a goth can be any religion they want, i once knew a hindu goth...

  • are these guys against god?

  • Pure Paganistic!

    Luv it!

    </3

  • for God :)

  • no. everyone in the band is a christian. the song is in perspective of Judas of iscariot. it's a story.

  • Awesome.

  • This song is a mastery and i hope it burns into the minds of all and may save the lives of a few...this band is a poetic artwork in absolute genius when they wrote this....those who fear this fear only truth itself and those who fear the message in their heart feel guilt and fear itself....jesus loves us all and may his grace bless his nay sayers and his power drown those pagans who hear it in truth and bliss....this is sad yet beautiful.....

  • I love his voice and i really love this band and all their songs! And i love the part between 3:35 - 3:46 love the mix with his great voice and the growl. 5:02 - 5:43 is a nice contrast to the song aswell. The intire song is genius! I cant say anything that is bad with this. Guitar and everything! AAAAHHHH this band means so much to me even if im not a cristian

  • (Comment was too long)

In the end, my point is that I am a Pantheistic Pagan (Druidic), yet I really enjoy this song because they music is beautiful. As someone else mentioned, you dont have to share the same beliefs to appreciate the *music* and passion of a song.

  • I'm not religious eighter...but I love their music...and I'm not ashamed to say it:))

  • thats true.. i am a Christian but i dont see anything wrong with this song.. and i have no problem with christian metal, i think that it rocks :)

  • @GannHalon - I totally agree, and btw: i'm orthodox

  • @GannHalon funny...when you listen to their new stuff and remember statements like this one.

  • @GannHalon metal have agressive voice and christianity must not take it , real christian music can be classic songs

  • @vaso442 the Psalms and books of Solomon are filled with sorrow. To be Christian is to know sorrow

  • @GannHalon Christian metal is terrible. Im sorry.

  • @GannHalon I don't get their band name whatsoever! Calling Mary Occultik is way outa line.

    Virgin Black

  • I really dont see why some people (Ive read a few comments) are threatened by this. It isnt like they are going out in front of a large congregation of people and using charismatic, body-language driven preaching in a way to brainwash people in believing something, using fears of divine punishment and so forth.

They are artistic individuals who are expressing their ideals through music. Governments and organized religion are for more harmful than this band is.

  • Piękny kawałek nie ma co chylę czoła...

słowa + muzyka = naprawdę świetny kawałek...

    Pozdro

  • greatings from algeria

  • Great music!!

  • Amazing song, really!!!

3:35 to 3:46 no words for describe this excellent part.

  • Check out, Hades Almighty -Submission Equals suicide..

  • Yeah,I have listened to it and it was cool

  • 5/5

  • wtf!

  • ISCAROIT xD

  • zajebista plyta jak zreszta wszyskie ich plyty kocham ich kocham ta muze pozdo

  • Huh?

  • Gotta admit that's a pretty cool language.

    Niesamowity piosenka swoją drogą

  • Haha....

  • @ThyMortalSin He's typing in Polish. Don't ask me what he is saying; I can only get a couple of the words.

  • @powstanie1234567890 też ich kocham, czekam na ich kolejną płytę Reqiuem Pianissimo, oby wyszła bez opóźnień. Pozdrawiam

  • Oh right, it says it in the video. This is really beautiful. Nice gothic doom.

  • Damn, Samantha Escarbe is an angel, she is a real one. Just listen to her guitar... i feel so calm listening to her.

  • the guitarist is a girl? she's a genius :D

  • best song of the Virgin Black early years' albums in my opinion...

  • Horrible graphicks! Its against the scriptures.

  • ...yeah...which ones, exactly? not that I care, since I don't accept them as authoritative in any way anyhow.

  • they're spiritualist christians. anti-church.

  • Aren't they a christian band?

  • i guess so,, why?

  • yes they are i discovered them off a site that has a list of christian bands.

  • Perfect sound for such a song, qar!kathiy iscarot al eretz mispat...

  • Where has this band been all my life?!

  • strange twist of growling and singing, but i really like it.

  • They were really good live when they supported Opeth!

  • an awesome song, they are just amazing!!

  • I adore Virgin Black

  • Though I dont like their older albums as much as the newer ones, i have to say this song is beautiful...

For those curious, Jesus here represents the faith of the speaker, no the literal jesus...

It says so in the liner notes...

  • beautiful lyrics

  • strangely beautiful.

  • Your'e boring!

  • It's still goth metal, though not goth rock or death rock.

  • no, i was told about them, i think the lyrics are beautiful and morbid is what a good gothic song is all about, darkness and mordib beauty, listen to feilds of the nephalim thats old school goth and there slow and dark

  • I'm assuming you did?

  • No I was told to check them out, but it's so obvious that they try to hard to be goth. Call me whatever you like, I personaly don't like their tunes, cause to me the best gothic metal is Theatres Des Vampires.

  • In my point of view, It's not about the category or label we consider them to be. Virgin Black plays for their own pleasure as we listen for our own. Of course, I completely understand our satisfactions are different.

  • @Grave187RIP13 There is no such thing as trying to hard to be goth.So shut up and enjoy this divine song.

  • @Dearbornification Shut you're fuckin face before somebody breaks it. Look at how long ago I posted that comment, and you got the balls to get on here and tell me to shut up? Bitch I haven't even so much as thought of this shit band in an entire fucking year.

  • Theatres des vampires sound more fake than this

  • gricio gay

  • Yet another beautiful and well-crafted song by Rowan and Samantha.

  • One of the best music of this album.

    The best album!

  • Always loved this song strangely, since I saw them live before I'd heard them proper.. <3

"Now a fragment of remorse is etched, I bandaged his wounds, I kissed the face of Jesus Christ.. but he is dead"

  • Love the 5:44 pic! He's voice sounds Gregorian.

  • great song and Samantha's guitar play in this song is just supernatural

  • I never thought i might like something like this...but this band,it's just awsome...

  • nocturnal slayer...i agree i,love my dying bride 's music...but after them i have to say Virgin Black are a pretty fucking close second...definitly 2 of a kind to me.

  • Great song... Makes me want to buy a CD of this band cause it's so inspiring, and the song thereafter (our wings are burning) is great too.

I love the rhythms that flow through each other, starting at 6.10 (I'm listening the song now via WMP)

  • This is so Beauitful, It makes me feel at peace, truly a work of prefection

  • inspiring

  • Buen video

  • I love that Virgin Black can talk about Christian things without being annoying or pushy or close-minded, which is what I usually think of when I hear the term "Christian-based music." But they make me think of old Gothic cathedrals and the poignant things in Christianity. There are certain beautiful qualities surrounding nearly every religion out there that make them unique and recognizable-like architecture, for instance. You don't have be Christian to think this is beautiful music.

  • agreed :) i wonder how many people in this universe think like us.LOL

  • So true! They are a great and honest band. I love "Our Wings Are Burning". That song is incredible, i think I can relate to it somehow. I am a gothic Christian, and I'm judged "Do I look like God? His image?" I want to download the mp3s

  • Ah, who cares what ya look like. Remember, God loves tax collectors and prostitutes!

  • Yes he does! And thats whats so great about him. No other "god" accepts people of all kinds. Thanks and God bless!

  • Hate to burst your bubble, but that's not true. =|

  • you dont even know what you're talking about

  • yea and he also loves women, and in Jesus' time women were considered as animals or objects and Jesus had many women disciples, he preached to women and he wouldnt let anyone be unfair to women.

  • your ignorance makes me laugh

  • exelent

  • wow first song I've ever heard from these guys and I gotta say its pretty cool.

  • powerful
