Even when I was a kid watching the Monkees on TV, and buying their albums, I always lliked the ones Mike Nesmith wrote and performed best, After he left the Monkees, "Some of Shelly's Blues" was one of his really good songs written in that country/rock style. A lot of big acts covered this song, lilke Earl Scruggs, Linda Ronstandt, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band which I saw perform this song in a concert. What a simple but powerful tune.
@1UNCOOLMIKE ; I vastly prefer the more ballad-y but haunting version from Live at the Palais. I LOVE that--had a cassette tape of "Palais" & just plain wore it out.
I always like Mike's songs.
